Pick between Wagner or Banchero should be the first step then move Suggs and extend Anthony Black. Feels like they have the talent but there’s log jams at positions and too many overlapping skillsets.

I’m going to give them the same advice I give every team: trade your backup center to the Sixers.

They should trade Wendall Carter Jr. to a certain team with an expiring and several first round picks

Here’s the list of roster problems that will inhibit our ability to do anything of the note:

Vanquished draft capital - Bane drained our resources, but even then, we’re about ⁵⁰⁄₅₀ in the actual draft, one decent player, one awful one.

Too many injuries, self-explanatory.

One of the league’s weakest benches. Only TDS & Black are consistently serviceable, everyone else a spore.

Actual cap hit. 4 players make up 91.7% of the cap, and they’re rarely on the floor together.

So what to do? You either:

A) Stay complacent (a favorite option), pray things somehow turn outB) Deliberately tank, but oh wait you don’t have a pick, so back to A!C) Trade one of those big contracts, which is a problem because ³⁄₄ of those guys (PB, Franz, Suggs) are always injured and the fourth you blew up your future for.D) Blow it all up and have fire sale, back to the basement, where no one cares to watch 30 minutes of Jamal Cain & tickets are still $40.

I firmly believe the only team who has it worse in the league as a fanbase is Sacramento, and even then, they at least can stay in the basement and have trade bait come February.

From an actual operations standpoint, I’d argue we are the worst positioned team in the league. It’ll be another year of mediocrity with nothing done about it. And Johnathan Isaac gets paid.

Replace Jeff Weltman with somebody competent

Try to trade off one of Wagner or Paolo for something because it’s clear to everybody but the magic GM that the two of them have negative synergy on the court

Trade with the Blazers. They’ve got 3 serviceable point guards. You need someone to organize that offense.

It’s tricky because you want to wait to see them healthy but they’re never healthy

Franz had a decent game today but it’s kinda tough to watch him. I don’t think anything he shoots outside of 15 feet is going in. Kinda same with Paolo and Wendell but when they have the jumpshot going they look amazing. Problem is it’s about 50% of the time. I thought bane would be better for them too.

On paper its a decent a big 3 they have. Then the game starts and it’s like what the fuck is this? Clunky offense. I think black is the only player I really like on Orlando at this point lol

It’s time for a major shakeup on that team. That roster clearly isn’t working and Jamal Moseley was a scapegoat. They need to either trade Franz or Paolo cuz they don’t work together

If you’re 2-7 and you’ve always been mediocre in the playoffs the conversation is usually almost one thing. The players you pay the most aren’t delivering enough value for their contract. Plain and simple

In the last decade of the NBA how many elite role players have we seen be able to transform a bad team to being a good one? Almost none and that’s by design (as players with great VORP should be paid handsomely, disqualifying them from being paid like a role player). The closest comp I can think was that Lonzo Ball year before he got injured mid season, and Bulls collapsed and were never good again afterward, and he was having one of the most crazy swiss army knife seasons (while shooting like 40% from 3) I had ever seen from a player. If Lonzo finished that season out at his pace of play, he would have an argument for the highest value provided per capita ever, outside of LBJ and MVPs providing MVP level play on rookie contracts. He was THAT good

But yeah Panchero and Wagner are not good enough combined. One of them needs to be traded. It’s not clear to me which is the better player to bet the franchise on, but that may not be relevant if the return for one is much higher than the other. Usually organizations give up too quick, but in the case, the Magic did these guys solid in giving PBFW time to try to grow with each other. It just hasn’t worked. Capitulating now is prudent and simply not being anchored to sunk cost, and getting value before stuff like trade rumors and declining play show up. play

I’d probably keep Paolo and sell off everything else for parts. I was a believer last season, but this core won’t go anywhere.

Ironically, they went for the wrong Grizzly. Ja would’ve been a nice piece for their roster to solve some of their playmaking woes. They could’ve gotten shooting for cheaper, maybe Klay or Huerter to provide some spacing. Bane just isn’t a good enough player to break the bank for.

Trade one of franz or paolo. Keep one because the new lottery rules are terrible

IMO trade Suggs and wagner, try to get a decent ball handler and a catch and shoot wing (easier said than done)

Suggs will be hard to trade but wagner should have a market. If Suggs had that 3pt% in 2024 this team would be decent

Kinda has to be Franz or Paolo, suggs won’t be super valuable

Trade Banchero or pull a rabbit from a hat like what all magicians do
