Steph Curry updated averages this season
31.3 PPG4.6 APG4.0 RPG50% FG45% 3PT99% FT
a 38 year old should not be able to do this.
warriors are doing great to manage his minutes and a lot of that has to do thanks Yaxel and podz and the great play of the bench so far. Went to OT and normally he’d be at 40+ minutes in a game like this but was able to rest and play a bit less.
We are legitimately playing 10-11 guys a game.
Kerr and the staff is buying Curry the extra few minutes here and there with back of the bench guys throughout the game.
They got lucky on the Yaxel dude, the guy’s a solid. After bust pick after bust pick, right in time for Steph’s probably last hurrah, and Steph’s feeling it. Gonna stan for the warriors this season. And they still have Jimmy waiting to comeback. Oh baby.
Die hard Laker fan from LA. I did a few years in the bay right when Steph and Klay were becoming splash bros. Moved back to LA after they won 2015 title. But I’ve always kinda rooted for them since then, except when they play the Lakers. I hope Steph gets one last hurrah
Bench has been stellar so far hence Steph got more rest time.
He sat start of OT. Wild
50/45/99 is ABSURD 😭
Would like to see his free throw % a bit higher, but other than that I agree
His FT skills have fallen off the cliff.
He’s getting a healthy whistle this year. It’s caught him off guard.
It’s actually 100% if you ignore the two misses.
Edit: one miss! The other was preseason.
One miss
Oh shoot. Yeah. The other miss was preseason. If you ignore the one miss
If you add 17 misses, his % actually goes down (technically).
Magic Johnson?
GOAT PG shit
People talk about LeBron’s longevity but this dude could play until he’s 41-42 if he wants to
Steph is actually so much closer to lebron age than expected, like my impression was always that lebron is so much older, since he went to watch Steph Davidson match, but they r only like 4 years apart?
It’s closer to 3 years. Curry turns 39 only two and a half months after Lebron turns 42.
Ya it’s cuz by the time curry got drafted LeBron was considered the best player in the NBA and the next GOAT upcoming
considered the best player in the NBA and the next GOAT upcoming
This a stretch and borderline BS.
He was put in those convos because media aint know what to do post Jordan retirement and they needed another player, other then Kobe, to help bring viewership to the league.
EVERYONE at that time was saying “NO!” at the thought of him being even remotely close to MJ’s level, especially given that Kobe was the one at that time.
It was not something organic.
It became organic post 2016
That 3-4 years is where the drop off expeditiously happens for most athletes, we’ll see if curry can keep up this production
Absolutely true, but unlike being the perfectly engineered athlete that LeBron is, Steph is doing it as a small guard with insane off ball movement. Even if he can’t keep it up. It’s a 1⁄1 kinda deal already, what he’s doing.
I mean curry’s conditioning will be tested
No. The previous 3-4 years are where the drop off expeditiously happens. Even former stars are usually, at best, decent bench players by 38 and most are absolutely washed.
Curry doesn’t rely on athleticism He lost quickness and still avg 31ppg
He relies on insane cardio/off-ball movement and cardio doesn’t decline as quickly as explosive athleticism
As he gets older, all they have to do is lower his minutes per game a little bit so that he can still go all-out.
I could see Curry doing the same things at 20 min per game deep into his 40’s. And imagine he if he came off the bench and was playing the against opposing team’s bench players. He would destroy them.
Conditioning is the thing that goes the most at that age. Athleticism is mid 30s
Lebron was 18 when he entered the NBA, Steph was 20 or 21
Their longevity is so different. Steph is still handling the ball, running around, and he’s creating space with his handles and crossovers, while scoring so much at a great efficiency. Bron at this age was laboring a lot on the court to conserve energy. And he mostly just settles for a shot or downhill runner. I don’t know how Steph hasn’t burned out yet. How can he sustain this. As with Luka and his hot start, i don’t think they can’t keep this pace up…
38 year old bron was still 29/8/7 on 50% FG bro … and went to the WCF that year too. Are they really that far apart from each other? This was after the solomon hill injury too
58% TS. Better statline but not terribly efficient. Usage rate of 33%.
Steph (albeit ~10 games in) is at 70% TS with a similar 33% usage rate.
Yeah Bron was shooting 7 3s a game (for some reason) on 32%. Really tanked his shit. Still hit 58% from 2 though which was okay
At the same time though, Steph’s only played 8 games so far and the last time he averaged 29 was in that same season (2022-2023). Gotta slow it down a bit
Different body types and playstyles. Lugging 230-260 lbs around vs. ~200lbs is a huge difference, even with Lebron’s GOAT tier athleticism. And the difference in minutes played is astounding.
This is so accurate
Should be top 3 in MVP ladder imo
Luka Wemby steph
He should be top 4 in mvp im ngl
Id have him ahead of Shai at this point. Both players are playing with depleted rosters but Stephs numbers are much better.
Curry is better than Magic
Already was 10 years ago
10 years ago he blew 3-1 lead so not exactly. maybe 2 years after that
not even a debate
Let’s see when Curry gets three finals MVPs
I guess Iguodala is better than Harden+Oscar+Dr. J+KG+Barkley+Westbrook+AI+Nash+Embiid+Malone+Stockton+Pippen+David Robinson combined, cause he has more fmvps than all of them combined. What a stupid logic.
Magic Johnson has more accolades (MVP’s , FMVPs, titles) than Curry at the end of the day and is more accomplished than him. Curry without KD ain’t getting the 2018 title anyway
Stop 🛑 bro got one on before and after KD. And the last one was against the same team that SWEPT 🧹 KD
Magic played with the GOAT of his time. Steph didn’t.
Getting to play with Kareem, Worthy, Cooper, Jamaal Wilkes, Bob McAdoo, AC Green, Byron Scott, Mychal Thompson in a weak west is crazy.
Kareem is a top 3 all time player. 6 mvps. 2 fmvps. Held the record for most points scored for a long ass time. He was the goat before Jordan.
James Worthy is a 7 time all star, fmvp, all nba level player.
Bob McAdoo is an MVP, 3 time scoring champion, 5 time all star, all nba level player. Rookie of the year as well.
Jamaal Wilkes is a 3 time all star, made all defensive teams. Rookie of the year.
Michael Cooper made the all defensive teams 8 times, including winning the dpoy in 1987.
AC Green was also an all star, made an all defensive team as well.
Name another team in the west during his time with as much talent.
Magic has never won without Kareem. Steph has won with Wiggins as the second best player. Steph has been playing in the NBA for 18 years, played with KD for only 3 of those years.
Steph clears.
Magic without Kareem isn’t getting any of those titles
Am I high or does that shit say 99% FT.
Pretty sure he didn’t miss his first FT until a few days ago. Almost had 50 in a row to the start the season and is working on his next streak now lol
IIRC he was 51⁄51 and then missed one to go 51⁄52 the other day, so he did in fact have >50 in a row to start the season
In not even 30 mpg
P4P greatest player of all time, at least since Monta Ellis
Greatest relatively short nba player ever fs
I dunno, Muggsey Bogues weighed like 4lbs I heard
Close. He weighed 4.2 lbs
Bogues had legs like tree trunks he definitely was heavier. But man could he jump!!
Unless monta weighed 12 pounds this is a crazy take
A joke brotha
Step play good
Fantastic start to the season. It won’t last to this level but he’s going to put another good season on the resume.
The GOAT PG debate has to take his longevity into consideration.
99% free throw percentage? That means he has 100 free throw attempts already. He’s ridiculous. Especially if you remember his first couple of injury prone years. Everyone knew he was a great shooter early on but his longevity and consistency are truly unparalleled. You can easily make the argument that he’s the greatest offensive weapon to ever have played the game. Considering 3 points is worth more than 2.
Not necessarily. 74⁄75 would be 99% since OP rounded.
He’s 48⁄49 which is 97.9%. Not sure why this conversation needs to be in hypotheticals.
Curry is 66⁄67 on free throws this season which is 98.507 which just barely rounds to 99%
Got em
He’s legit better than Magic Johnson.
Someones finally averaging 30
It feels like everyone is balling out right now. Let’s wait till the all-star break to see who can keep it up.
Yes mr warriors fan we know he’s having a good season
Let us be happy, it’s been a while
once Butler comes back, yall can seriously do some damage if Yaxel continues being the beast he is
I feel you, enjoy ❤️
