Stephen Curry on the clutch win vs. Magic 41/6/6 on 69/50/100 shooting. Warriors win 7th straight!
Stephen Curry scores 41 points on 13⁄19 including going 10⁄10 on FTs. Should Steph be on the MVP conversation on his age 38 season?
All it took was a 40 year old rookie to give him a 2nd prime š
Listen, he may be 53 but for a 66 year old rookie he’s playing amazingly. If this is 74, bring on 75.
This 15 year retirement tour is gonna be wild
I’ve actually just received word that Yaxel Lendeborg has died in his home of natural causes, surrounded by loved ones. He leaves behind 4 children and 11 grandchildren.
RIP Yax - Warrior Legend
nursing home synergy
Cashing nba checks and social security at the same time, what a guy
crazy that yaxel reaching 100yo this year
Someone get that man a prune juice
Last year we saw what Curry can do with a 20 ppg scorer that can create. Stat muse has it as 20-13 in the games JB and Curry played last year
Imagine if they gave him this earlier. Weāre robbed of more steph in the playoffs
yaxel the first mf to age by day instead of by year
I had no idea he was that old. How is a 24 year old rookie averaging 23.6/8/4.5 on 63%TS and not get drafted earlier, even if it’s early days? Someone gave bad career advice to this kid elder gentleman. Those are insane numbers for a rookie.
Michigan gave him a bag to transfer instead of going to the NBA
Any idea how much he was paid?
Warriors had plenty of chance to get players like Anunoby, etc but prioritized their picks and the future. The theory is that Joe Lacob didnt necessarily believe that Steph will go back to his prime self post 2022 chip.
So he just went with the two timelines BS lmao
He was like, “steph cannot definitely do this again (for the nth time)”
Yax just turned 45
Lmao
This might be the best 38 year old we’ve ever seen lol
People will say Bron at 38 but I think it’s a real debate seeing what Steph is doing right now, wtf
Rn it’s fs Steph, just a question of how well he sustains it
LeBron averaged 29/8/7 in 55 games played. I’d take Steph rn bc his efficiency is absurd tho we’ll see
for reference bronās best game in his age 38 season is 48/8/9 on 62/50/92 shooting with 0 TO in 35.5 minutes. In fact, the entire month following his 38th birthday he was putting up some ridiculous numbers with AD out (9 30+ pt games, 5 of those above 40)
I agree tho if steph can sustain this heat for even another month or two he probably goes down as the best age 38 season ever
This season by Steph he will turn 39 however
71 TS atm, previous best was 68 in 2018, probably gonna mean revert as the season goes on but still a career best. Just gonna assume neither of them play defense at 38.
Luca’s currently at 68, so was SGA’s MVP seasons.
this might be one of Stephās better defensive seasons so far, some fucking how
He’s doing a great job getting to the line too, by far a career-high in FTAs. Glad he finally has a good whistle for once.
Except for that Steph actually plays good defense rn.
wrong season….Steph turns 39 this season, the following season for LeBron, from the one you quoted, is the season he turned 39 and therefore should be the comparison.
When does butler, moody whoever else thatās injured lol come back?
Februaryish
I know guard defense is kind of a meme, but Curryās defense > Brons at 38. LeBron James had all but given up on D at that point
bro never watched any playoff series with bron in the past 4 yearsš bron was the defensive coordinator/general for the lakers for YEARS under Ham, and even redick. Steph has gotten stronger which helps but he was getting subbed out for defensive stop possessions
Warriors legit subbed Steph out when they had to play defense in this game. Like on the clutch possessions they specifically subbed out Steph. They’ve been doing this for years btw. Meanwhile 39-year-old LeBron was guarding Jokic in the 4th quarter of the Olympics semifinals against Serbia. Let’s be a little fucking serious here lol.
I cannot fucking stand these comments lol. Lebron played great D when healthy last year and while he did have a stretch of years where he took a lot of possessions off he was still a very good defender when locked in definitely better than Curry. This is coming from like Currys greatest defense defender too I argue with people that for a guard his defense is solid all the time.
Wait I thought steph plays terrible defense /s
This is heinous lol. The commenter below you nailed it, steph has been hunted on defense his whole career and we are not gonna pretend at 38 he’s ascended to another level on that end. He doesn’t need people to make shit up just to cape for him online, what he’s doing right now is impressive all on its own.
nah, lmao. Bron at 38 was better than steph at 38. And it isn’t even particularly close.
Absolutely crazy take
How this has 13 upvotes is truly baffling. Do you guys seriously watch basketball or just live in the moment? Lmao
Lebron at 38 was 2018 lebron, right? I think I got the numbers confused in my head for a second lmfao š¤£
I’m a Bron stan, he was good as ever at 38 and carrying the team but his cast was better than this current GSW team, and honestly he didn’t have to go supernova, curry feels like he’s been going supernova every game.
Did you even watch the 2022ā23 season? The Lakers were atrocious and plagued by injuries. In December and January LeBron was averaging 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists while missing three starters: AD, Reaves, and Lonnie Walker. And he was a top-five player in the 2023ā24 season.
Yes, i am a fan bro. It was a real carry job by Bron, but I guess we have been super spoiled by him, a 32-8-8 performance seems normal whereas for curry these performance are abnormally good if you know what I mean?…
It probably is Steph bc the minutes gap
38 y/o Bron has significantly more minutes and mileage than 38 y/o Steph
I mean if itās how heās played so far Steph has clearly been better. Heās been doing all this while playing like 29 minutes a game.
Heās literally leading the league in multiple box score advanced metrics and is even 4th in EPM(though itās the expected not actual data).
39-year-old LeBron was top four in the league in EPM and top five in RAPM during his age-38 and age-39 seasons. Steph is benefiting from a favorable whistle, averaging 13.6 free-throw attempts per 100 possessions, which is higher than LeBron averaged during his MVP seasons. By the way, LeBron averaged just 8 FTA per 100 possessions during his age-38 and age-39 seasons. Curry always starts the season hot and then goes back to his usual self.
What was Bron doing at 38 thatās better?
Pretty sure he was averaging 28/8/7, both were doing unprecedented things.
Curry doing this playing like 5 minutes a game or some shit.
Curry’s better.
Playmaking
Not a damn thing. Curry’s doing this on a minutes restriction
Shooting
Balding?
Curry is better.
Nah there’s no debate, Bron at 38 already fell off a cliff in the metrics. Counting stats were there but he wasn’t a top 10 guy anymore in impact
LeBron James made no impact on a team that went to the wcf??
The only reason we went to the WCF that year was because all the top seeds choked and the 2nd round matchup was an even lower seeded Warriors team.
Bron played like a superstar in that round but sure as fuck didn’t in the RS or against the Nuggets.
Yep, Steph getting a regular season win against the Magic is more impressive than LeBron going to the Western Conference Finals.
Or maybe we should wait and see more, rather than rushing to conclusions after 10 games?
Yeah letās see if he even plays a whole season.
LeBron going to the Western Conference Finals
You do realize we had a 29yo Anthony Davis right? Basketball team sport yes or no?
The biggest difference to me and why I think Steph is more impressive is the amount he is moving. He is unquestionably the goat of stamina in the NBA. LeBron took a lot of plays off on both ends that season. Steph is still moving around more than guys over 10 years younger than him. Itās honestly unbelievable. And then on top of that doing what heās doing at his size is just a lot more impressive to me.
Steph is by far the best over 30 and over 35 player of all time. More 35 point games than anyone over 30 and more 40 point games over 35 with LeBron second in twice as many games.
You can still argue that LeBron is better all time but I donāt think you can argue that heās better in the second half of his career than steph.
LeBron has 11 all nba seasons since he turned 30, including 5 1st teams. He has two titles since then. After 35, he has 6 all NBAās and one title.
Since turning 30, Steph has 6 all NBAās, with 2 1st teams, and one title. After 35, he has 2 all NBAās and no titles.
This isnāt a definitive argument, but Iād take this gauge over your number of 30 and 40 games one.
I was born a month after Steph. Watching him still be doing this at my age helps me feel young. Bron too.
We talking about Steph or Yaxel here?
This is his age 38⁄39 season, his birthday is during the season, same as LeBron. Lots of people are comparing Lebron’s age 38 season (as they see it in BBREF) but this is not a good comparison, he turned 38 during that season. The more accurate comparison is the next one where he turned 39, just like Steph does this season.
It’s a long season though. We should not be answering this question after so few games
He will slow as the season goes. Just like last year.
This is why they are going to try to minutes restrict him just like they’ve been doing, rely on Yax for scoring most games. Then Butler comes back and hopefully that lowers his minutes more.
last year steph had no hope. This year is different.
Not too sure about that. He looked really dialed in this year
The Warriors start well every season and end up below .500 at the deadline, it seems. Think the roster is just too old
Itās been like that since 2022. We start hot, then injuries pile up. Steph isnāt usually this hot to start though. When he does, we are usually on a finals clinching season (2022, 2016 come to mind)
How sad will i be when he retires, he is a big reason why i fell in love with the sport
In 2020 I decided I would not miss any more Steph games because it was close to the end. 6 years and a chip later and I still get to see this. Bro, I don’t even have words for this other than STEPHEN CURRY.
The sky-fuckery will continue
So inspirational
Shooting skill doesnāt age. Itās just everything else that wears down a player. If any playstyle has the best chance for longevity, itās his.
I’m always amazed that Vince Carter had such a long career considering his high flying play style
He did dial back hard drives later on his career.
His best skill is his off ball movement and stamina
When he first fucked the sky he fucked his way into my heart too
Every game he plays is a blessing to the basketball world
I started watching basketball with the 2019 Raptors.
To me Steph has always been the scariest player with the ball in his hands.
He and Klay are THE reason why I first started following the NBA. Will be a sad day when they both retire
He and inside the nba are the only reason I watch anymore.
Modern warriors fans will finally learn what it was like to be a warriors fan pre-curry
I hope this man never retires
The only knock on Steph used to be that his longevity didn’t stack up to some of the other all time greats. MJ, Magic, Bird, Kobe, Duncan, Shaq etc were either retired or washed at age 38. Steph? He’s a top 10 player in the league. Dude is incredible
He’s always been like this. He’s unlucky that the highest profile series of his career (2016 Finals) was also his 2011 LeBron Heat Finals performance. Nobody thinks 2011 proved Dirk > LeBron, but you got that kind of a reaction in 2016 even though Steph played like ass and might have still had a nagging injury. That series was an outlier on the negative side. 2022 run and the Olympics give you a pretty accurate idea of what he’s like on a nightly basis. Honestly reminds me of Messi in terms of making the unthinkable seem routine.
Not really sure what the point of the comparison you made is. People dont consider lebron>curry because of the 2016 finals, public consensus has never had curry above lebron, the comparison isnt even fair because curry is a mount Rushmore level player in his own right.
If 2016 ended in a 4-1 like it looked like, it would have been so difficult to really say Lebron > Steph when Steph would have won back to back over Lebron while having a 5 on men defense the whole time with respect a single coverage, while also changing the sport… at the end of the day could have been also that Steph had 4 rings and Lebron 3.
What you are missing is that June 2016 is when the narrative could have changed and would have been really difficult to say Lebron was the best player ever when another one won as much or more than him in the same years, with less help.
“what if” analysis is silly. What if Love and Kyrie don’t get hurt and LeBron wins 2015, and CP3 doesn’t get hurt so Steph doesn’t get 2018? Oh, then it’s different!
Who cares?
The consensus was actually split before the 2016 Finals. And many people did think Curry had surpassed LeBron during the 2016 season.
This is ridiculous glaze to Steph lmao
Children on Reddit and Warriors fans thought that. No one else thought he was better, even if he had a better regular season.
2022 run and the Olympics give you a pretty accurate idea of what he’s like on a nightly basis.
This is what cemented Steph as co-GOAT for his generation right next to LeBron, imo. And what Steph did in that Olympics really cemented him as a global icon forever as well
“co-GOAT” is pretty crazy
Ultimately here’s the deal. Suppose you asked somebody at the end of every Finals series who they thought was the best player in the world. Not who had the best season or series, just, ‘hey, who’s the BITW rn? who has the crown?’
Here would be the public’s answers:
2012: LeBron
2013: LeBron
2014: LeBron
2015: LeBron
2016: LeBron
2017: LeBron
2018: LeBron
2019: Contested… Kawhi, KD among the top picks
2020: LeBron or Giannis
2021: Jokic or Giannis
2022: Contested… Steph, Giannis, Jokic among the top picks
2023: Jokic
How do we look at this and say “oh yeah, Steph and LeBron are co-GOATs!”
This year is probably the closest KD got to being considered the best
This is a fair way to look at it, I think the point the above person is making is less that Steph held the belt in the moment in an individual year for as much time as LeBron but more that if in 2022⁄4 you asked someone “who has had the best last 10 years?” or “who is the best/defining player of this era” then for a lot of the public Steph’s late career period would recontextualize that whole stretch of time.
Also what the public says matters but that comment did literally say “in my opinion”
The majority opinion, in all walks of life and society, are often egregiously wrong. Sometimes we heavily revise them as we gain deeper understanding over time.
Its a lot easier when you realize that this is entirely your opinion on what the public might have said
This is so skewed. No Kobe or Duncan?
didn’t hear any Jokic shouts after 2022 Finals, it was all Steph or Giannis but ok sure buddy
I do not get the criticism matters there, because unlike LeBron, Steph was legitimately hurt. It was the same injury that we have seen Achilles pulled by guys playing through, and Steph fortunately avoided that.
Steph had a grade 1 MCL sprain, we know the timetable for them. It was healed up by the time of his return.
The entire “he was injured!” narrative is speculation that he tweaked it. Has never been confirmed. He was not on the injury report.
It was definitely not healed up lol. After he returned in the Portland series…. he looked worse every series and almost every game.
Steph just did not put the narrative into it other players did. He was not about excuses or giving a reason why the Cavs did not deserve to win.
Might have had an injury? He literally had to drop out of the Olympics due to that injury lmao, donāt let the lebron glazer propaganda fool you
What? Your comparing 2016 Curry with 2011 LeBron? That’s asinine. LeBron was a deer in the headlights who was afraid to shoot or do anything by the end of it. That was an all time choke job for a legit GOAT contender in his absolute physical prime. He got outscored by 4 or 5 other dudes in a very winnable series.
Steph was also playing blind
top3
Injuries are part of sports and nobody gives a fuck for excuses. Lebron was already LeBron before 2016. But that 2016 finals put a stamp on LeBron. Nobody has ever done that, and it becomes a crazy outlier for the future.
His comp, Magic, had a really good team throughout his career. He literally had 4 FRPs in his team from the moment he was drafted there. Not to take away from him.
But Steph had to be drafted by a bottom tier franchise and it took 7 years from 07 to 14 for him to have a considerable team. During those years, the team dont even relegate to him but mostly Monta, so he had a mate who doesnt really want him to take over. And a team that almost traded him. Even his 2015 is worse than most of Magic’s roster.
Despite that, he won 4 rings which is just 1 ring short of Magic. My headcanon as well is that the NBA had to prolong that Lakers/Celtics rivalry meanwhile the league caught up quite fast to the Warriors so much so that they designed the NBPA contracts specifically targetted to the Warriors and any derivatives.
The league prioritizes parity nowadays which is why since 2018, there hasnt been a repeat champion. The 80s and 90s arent exactly that. Dynasties sell.
Didn’t Curry get drafted in 2009?
Heās a top 10 player all time. Heās been there for a while but itās still gonna take people some time to fully realize. The guy is just built different one of one and warps the game in a way no player ever has or ever will
id sayd top 3, 5 at the very least
Duncan was third team all NBA when he was 38
I don’t know if that’s accurate. Plenty of people have praised Curry for his longevity.
Steph is the unicorn. Because he has a self generated PPS (points per shot) from the perimeter that forces defenses to guard him as #1 priority off ball and on ball. They have to give him priority over layups because his PPS is so high.
If defenses didnt respect his outlandish gravity and his PPS the way they do, and guarded him like the second most dangerous perimeter player in the NBA, heād easily shoot 50-60% from three.
Nobody is guarded like Steph. Analytically the defenses are forced to play this way.
In his prime he was at 48% on wide open threes
Wide open threes just means he had that distance. Itās after running full blast changing direction multiple times, and still with probably around a 1 second window to shoot. That is āwide openā.
But he didnāt really peak as a player till way later. MJ, Lebron, Kobe and Shaq were out the gate one of the top players in the NBA.
Part of that is also because people forget how good he was pre 2015.
He upset a 57 win Nuggets team in the first round with David Lee their all star missing the whole series in 2013. He then drops 44 against one of the best playoff defenses in the 2013 Spurs.
He was already one of the best players in the league by the end of 2013-2014 season. And a clear top 10 guy in 2012-2013.
When Steph got healthy and when they finally traded Monta Ellis(who was a bad fit with Steph and lead the league in shot attempts in that span) itās no surprise that he had his breakout season.
Donāt forget how bad a coach mark jackson was. He was so full of Jesus he didnāt understand how to shoot a three
Mark Jackson calling a timeout just to have Jarrett Jack go one on one to end the game with Steph and Klay both just standing on the three point line was the straw that broke the Camelās back for me with Jackson. I was completely fed up with his rah rah, completely non-tactical bullshit.
Kobe didn’t even average 20 PPG until his fourth season. What are you talking about
lol this proves you werenāt watching ball back then. Curry took the 2013 spurs to the brink
Depends how you define peak. He had his MVP seasons around the same time as most do, which is their age 27⁄28 seasons.
What? They were all hyped players ou the gate, took years for them to become top players. MJ got injured early and Detroit and Isaiah Thomas had hid number early in his career, Bron didnt win anything till Miami, his 7th season. Steph had the same arc. He just wasnt quite as hyped out the gate. Heres another way to look at it. MJ won his first title in his 7th season. Bron also 7th. Shaq was in his 8th. Steph won it his 6th season. Kobe was the baby winning it in his 4th.
Rookie Lebron was top ten in MVP voting and was 2nd in MVP voting by year 3.
Rookie Jordan was top ten in MVP voting and was 2nd in MVP voting by year 3.
Rookie Shaq was top ten in MVP voting and was 2nd in MVP voting by year 3.
Steph wasn’t top ten until year 4 and 5.
Titles are a bad metric for individual ability, titles measure team success.
They absolutely were top players out of the gate, and Steph absolutely had a (comparatively) late start.
Okay but re: the Pistons, they infamously had a protocol for dealing with Jordan before he beat them. You donāt do that for a non-top player.
They had to go through the Lakers and the Celtics multiple times in their runs. Iāve never heard of a āBird Rulesā or āMagic Rules,ā but Iāve heard of the Jordan Rules.
When did Steph get drafted? And when did he become one of the best players in the league?
Those guys but year 2-3 were already top 10 players. What is this nonsense that I’m reading
Steph won his first MVP season 5. Kobe won Season 11. Shaq season 8. Lebron season 6. MJ got it his 4th so MJ was ahead of steph, there you go.
Kobe was not great out of the gate
Top 5!
Timmy got ring #5 not too long after turning 38 and was still solid during the next season, but other than that your point stands
Steph being a top 10 player in a stacked league at age 38 (about to be 39) as a 6ā3ā guard is even crazier than LeBron still being a beast at 41-42
Heās ahead of everyone not named MJ
Steph fans don’t even think he’s better than LeBron deep down lmao
He is
People were really trying to convince me Steph is washed. His game is perfect for longevity
This coming from a Celtics or Lakes fan is probably one of the highest praise you can hear from other fans.
Da fuck? LMFAOOO Youre talking like those guys are popovich and Phil jackson. Two days ago I had a lakers fan tell me that Wiggins was more important to the 2022 championship than Steph. What makes these bums the authority on anything? They didnāt win their team any damn rings, they just turned the tv on one day when they were 12 and picked the team that was winning.
I was confused by how weird this comment is until I saw the top 1% commenter, I get it.
No other 38yo PG avg more than 15, Steph is avg 30
30
I believe it was 12 ppg or something crazy.
The 12 ppg one was wrong, Nash had 12.5 at 38
and then there’s a Stockton age 39 season with 13.4ppg
point totally stands that nobody’s put up heaps of ppg though
30 on his back too
Heās averaging 31.3 right now.
88% TS too
If he keeps this up, heās easily gonna have the best 38 yo player season. Even better than Bron
Dude’s playing out of this world at 38
Enough with the nostalgia act, this is the greatest PG to ever play the game.
Facts. We’ve never seen Magic play at this level. And Curry has more difficult competition
The only reasonable argument for Magic at this point is that he averaged more assists which is what Point Guards are āsupposed to doā (also ignoring he played with Kareem and James Worthy)
If that sounds like a shit argument to you, thatās because it is. Steph is twice the basketball player Magic was.
I disagree. The job of a point guard imo is to facilitate the offense. If they facilitate it through themselves, that still makes them a point guard in my opinion. People like Westbrook are still a point guard, even though they are ball dominant.
And Steph does facilitate the offense. He just does it running around off ball like a psycho and creating chaos and opportunity for the rest of his teammates.
Steph is twice the basketball player Magic
settle down child, seriously kids nowadays….
Dudes want to come in here and exclaim why the player they watched is inarguably better than the player they didn’t
You guys live in the moment Jesus. I wish I could paste images
No he isnt and Steph isnt a Point Guard.
His main skill is shooting so he is a shooting guard but because hes short his position is point guard.
A forward that passes really well is called a point forward. One that shoots really well is called a forward.
Passing, handling the ball upcourt and setting up the half court set is what a Point Guard does and thats what it means to play the point.
Now you can instead argue if Steph was the greatest guard or shooting guard if you like vs Kobe or MJ but guessing thats not a debate Steph stans wanna start eh
those position definitions have changed, thus the apples to oranges/different eras issue
Shut up with that āSteph isnāt a point guardā shit bruh respectfully š so fucking boneheaded
Anyone that doesnāt average 8+ assists a game or is capable of creating their own shot is a shooting guard, I guess. Screw the whole āposition they play on the basketball courtā thing.
And logically this would lead one to assume that the PG of the 2010s Warriors was⦠Klay Thompson? Draymond Green? Nobody? What are we talking about lmao
P.S. Steph does handle the ball, like, ALOT.
Stockton or Paul is the best point guard if you argue Steph isn’t one. If Steph is too shooty, Magic is too forward sized to not be a point forward, like LeBron.
Curry is way, way better than Kobe lol.
Top 5 all time
No doubt
Not a pg
7th in MVP lmao
should be top 3
Should be second only behind Doncic
I mean, behind Wemby and Doncic is fair. Wemby is a monster in his own right
Feels interchangeable. Wouldn’t mind either ranking
Canāt even hate what heās doing. Absurd.
How does he stay so good at this age. It’s actually insane.
Craziest thing is that his game is dependent on all that movement. He is outrunning and outlasting folks. Contender for best conditioned NBA player of all time.
Its Wilt and him for second, for sure.
Basketball gods decided taking away most of his early career was unfair, so they gave him a little bit more time after his career peak to be even more peak
there will never be another him
Imagine if Steph had a fair whistle like this in his prime he mightāve averaged 45
this is easily the most whistles he had so far in a season then he walks into averaging 30 a night at 38 yrs old.
He has had a good whistle this year atleast
LeBron having a weird whistle in his younger days I can kinda get, they gave him that Shaq treatment sometimes where they just expect him to finish. But I never truly understood why neither LBJ or Steph eventually got the ‘star’ whistle, they reached the all time great status and still got screwed out of a lot of calls.
38 YEARS OLD
LeBronās longevity is unmatched but no 38 year old has ever played this well as the #1 option. This efficiency doesnāt make sense.
LeBron at ages 38 and 39 was a better player and a legitimate first option. We’re only 10 games into the season, and Curry is attempting more free throws than he did in his prime, even more than prime LeBron.
Curry 2026ā27: 13.6 FTA/100
Curry 2017ā18: 8.4 FTA/100
LeBron 2023ā24 (age 39): 7.8 FTA/100
LeBron 2022ā23 (age 38): 8.0 FTA/100
LeBron 2008ā09: 13.4 FTA/100
Steph doesnāt have multiple options in Reeves and Davis. Youāre right itās only been 10 games but Bron only had to play 55 games and let his team carry from there. So far Stephās been better.
Steph 31.3 ppg 70.8% TS
Bron 28.9ppg 58.1% TS
10-game sample size. Reaves was injured during the 2022-23 season, and so was Davis. In December and January, LBJ averaged 32/8/8 while playing alongside Westbrick and Wenyen Gabriel missing 3 starters. This 10-game stretch, during which Curry is getting carried by the refs, doesn’t make him better than a healthy 38-year-old LBJ.
Reaves wasn’t that guy yet; he averaged only 13 PPG in 2022-23, while Yaxel is currently averaging 22 PPG. Curry also always plays alongside perennial All-Defensive Team member Draymond Green
39-year-old LBJ was also a lot better than Curry, averaging 26/8/7 over 71 games while shooting 54/41/75, despite getting an atrocious whistle and being a better defender
Skyfucker never die
Just the greatest ever.
Love this energy.
No way lol. I can’t believe people actually think this. What is the argument for Steph over Jordan, genuinely?
Jordan didnāt drop 40 against the Orlando Magic a week after Halloween
I wouldn’t be surprised if he did tbh
Excuse me my dear commenter, this is a Steph Curry warranted glaze thread, I’m not here to actually debate MJ vs. Steph lol
I guess if I was to list one obvious point, you could go with the fact MJ has about 3-4 inches on him in height, 8 inches more wingspan, and an immeasurable amount more in athleticism all naturally in a game where those factors are immensely important.
It would be more of a “relative” argument or “what if…?” As Kerr said, I do think he is the most skilled player of all time, which means a lot.
I donāt think you could argue anyone is more skilled than him all time. Anyone trying is being ridiculous. Greatest shooter by a long shot, a better passer than he gets credit for, top 3 handles ever, better finisher around the rim than anyone his size (Kyrie may be flashier but steph is more efficient), heās lead the league in steals, a legitimately good rebounder at his position for his size and the dude at 6ā3ā can barely dunk.
Whenever you ask somebody to justify Steph as the GOAT they immediately say ‘well if you completely warp the definition..’ it’s kinda funny
Yeah bro this isn’t boxing. It’s not pound for pound.
Dude below even says ‘if you ignore defense..’ LMAO
It’s greatest, that DOES have a different definition to different people. Why do you think people still argue for Russell and Wilt. Accolades? Stats? For example, the discussion is best, that’s also included but can be its own debate as well.
Yes it’s a very unique angle - and I myself have admitted this.
Iāve seen people say similar things when Jokic was doing his thing in the regular season from 23-26.
Like yeah if you stack up things career wise nobody but Bron or MJ(maybe Kareem) have a realistic goat case. But some players have had peaks or stretches, where itās like yeah maybe they are the best.
Thinking Basketball actually had an entire podcast series on this topic.
they’re a Warriors fan. They’re allowed to be delusional about their franchise GOAT
For real, idk why people see the Warriors flair and are even the slightest bit surprised
Steph >>>>> LeBron Jordan anyone I don’t care if I’m bias
Offensive argument mainly - defense is just limited due to size. Also, he changed the game. Not even Jordan can say that. Do you like Rembrandt? Then you like Jordan. Basically, taking basketball to its ultimate limit in terms of execution and midrange brilliance in the same way Rembrandt perfected chiaroscuro with beautiful brush strokes.
Do you like Picasso? Then you like Curry. Cubist perspective literally changed the way art was perceived. Painting was never the same after him. If you look at basketball before 2015 and basketball ten years later in 2025, they’re almost not the same sport.
Greatest PG ever. No argument for GOAT sadly (though he is in my heart)
The argument is- game is about putting ball in hoop- Steph is best at putting ball in hoop
There a number of points against it (what about winning? Total points? Longevity?). But thatās the argument.
who dis
Luka is the MVP but this guy is the clear cut #2 right now at 39… Crazy
Wemby up there too
Shai is going insane too. Those top 3 are likely to be more sustainable in their run.
x
The efficiency puts Curry well above Shai so far this year. 71% TS vs 57% (which is league average).
It’s a pretty clear top 3 tier at the moment.
Thereās a huge thing Steph has over the other candidates right now. Heās going nuclear on efficiency, which I expect to hold, but itās not even that.
The argument for Steph is the same argument that won him the 2014 MVP: the sheer efficiency and impact in the amount of time he spends on the court is unmatched
LeBron can’t keep doing this forever.
Steph, KD: ?
Sorry, force of habit.
KD aināt doing much this year
I mean, Luka is shooting ~30% more(24.6⁄18.4 fga, 13.8⁄10.6 3pa, 11.3⁄8.4 fta) with similar efficiency(68⁄70 ts%), while doing a lot more than shooting which wears him out.
Did Wemby die?
RIP
Steph been better
Curry doesnāt anchor a entire defense while averaging 28 PPG. Matter of fact, Wemby isnāt just anchoring, heās having one of the best defensive seasons in league history right now
Steph has a 71 TS percentage on the season right now. 71.
You can argue this, sure. But clear cut?
Steph has been more efficient and consistent for sure.
Wemby?
3rd
Luka is not the MVP 10 games in
We’re talking so far bro, obviously whole season left
the MVP is awarded at the end of the regular season, that is correct!
Jokic
jokic isn’t even top 5 right now
nah
You donāt watch games if you still think this
They both play defense, actually. They’re both pretty solid at that end. The no defense thing is a myth
Chef is still Curry
He is the single most dangerous offensive player in the history of the NBA, someone should count how long heās been double- and triple-teamed in his entire career.
MVP
bro once Jimmy gets back I hope Steph gets that help
Wdym. Aside from todays game steph s playing 28 mins per. Hes getting a lot of help
Averaging 30 on 28 minutes game look at my goat go
Warriors bench depth is great. But at the same time he plays 28 mins because he can score 1 point per sec so he doesnāt need to be out there for 35 or more mins.
I hear the 4 day work week is more productive than the 5 so when Jimmy and Moody come back he would be able to average 45 in 20 minutes without trying very hard.
One point per second, Curry is The Flash.
When Steph Curry is healthy and playing with that kind of confidence, there’s really no one quite like him. He’s just on another level. Reminds me of watching Jordan in his prime.
Unreal
dude HAD 24 points with 3 minutes left in the 4th. Finished the game with 41..
Yes heās playing like an mvp.
Heās even doing this on a minutes restriction, he didnāt even start OT š
If hes not in the top 3 mvp polls we riot
Absolutely I think heās the best player in the league. And the dude I would want to build around at least for this season. Greatest shooter of the ball ever.
THEY SAID WE WERE GOING 0-10 (i was unfortunately one of them)
THEY SAID WE WEREN’T GOING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS (i also overreacted and believed this from the 3rd loss)
THEY SAID OUR ROSTER IS TRASH (to be fair, we barely made changes early in the off season)
WELL, GUESS WHAT, WE’RE ON A 7 FUCKING WIN STREAK, BABY AND IT’S THANKS TO STEPH THE CHEF LOOK AT WARDELL CURRY MAN (oh and also Yax and Podz for stepping up)
Is he averaging 30+ now? Might need to update that post
It’s crazy that LeBron is pretty much downplaying the crazy longevity Curry and KD has had. Curry had negative ankles early in his career and a lot of people thought that it was curtains for him, look at him now.
If who keeps up the pace for the whole season but if warriors finish higher seed and Luka fall off from historic rate then curry definitely has a chance
Games played in the big problem for Curry. He’s sitting out back-to-backs this season to protect his knees, and the Warriors have 15 of them. That puts him at a max of 67 games played. Even 1 tiny injury could put him out of the MVP race.
AND HE’S BEEN ON A MINUTES RESTRICTION
