Aaron Gordon addresses the local crowd in Mexico City in Spanish.
Speak a little Spanish for em Aaron
Blow these people’s mentalitiesss
Read the shit from the menu that we were talking about
Shit… You killed a motherfucker on camera
Waiting for that first nba game in china for this joke to really hit
You dunk on a mfer on camera and you won’t speak a little Spanish?
Egregious, outrageous, ridiculous, ludacris!!!!
Cumtown and NBA crossover? I did not have that on my 2026 bingo card!
If you read enough comments you’ll see cumtown references here daily. It’s probably all 15 of Adam’s alts.
Lol what Ep is this?! I also go back to some oldies when I’m high. My favorite is Jeff Goldblum on Jeopardy and Michael Douglass or when they do the Sopranos bit but they’re Indian
The one about Dereck Chauvins trial
Oh lord. Clutch, thank you
Someone animated it
Perfect lmao
Brings a tear to my gay, small dick eye 🥲
This wins the internet today!
Viva Mexico weyyy. Where is Gilberto Arenas
Alejandro Gordo
Have we ever confirmed his ethnicity? He’s got that classic ambiguous beige skin where he could be anything.
Dad black mom white, great grandfather apparently Native American according to Wikipedia. His dad tried playing for a year in Mexico apparently
God forbid a half white boy get a little Spanish motion
Mocíon
I’ve mentioned it before on this sub, but my sister and I grew up around his family / I played youth ball with Aaron (who played up an age group) and did track and field with his older sister Liz. His older brother and sister were definitely a touch darker, but nobody thought that any of them weren’t black lol
Yeah this sub is odd sometimes.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he picked up some Spanish growing up too. SJ is like 48% asian 48% Mexican and 4% everything else
Somehow I know less than before
We beige ambiguous bros are chameleons. Everyone trying to figure out what we are lol
In high school they called me Chico. I’m part Japanese
I can see it.
A lot of Mexicans look southeast Asian so they might’ve assumed some physical similarities
Are you part guy? Chico just means guy or boy (not insulting)
Beige boys, rise up!! I’m part Japanese, Mexican, and white (among others). When I’m in Hawaii people think I’m Hawaiian. It’s funny to pass for most brown ethnicities
Everyone in Hawaii thinks im local….until i start talking
When I first started at my restaurant job all of my Spanish speaking coworkers kept looking at me and talking to each other. Started getting self conscious. After a couple days one of them looked at me and just ask “Cubano?”, then someone else “Brazil?”
Apparently they had a bet about my race (I’m just black + white)
I’ve also had people ask if I’m Persian, Puertro Rican, Egyptian, etc. it’s fun tbh.
Idk of any Black person who wouldn’t know what Aaron Gordon was.
Phenotypic expression can lead to some unexpected outcomes. My wife is pretty much the same complexion as AG and has green eyes but also has 4C dark black hair styled in sister locs.
Both of her parents are black (about the complexion of Stephon Castle) so people will see them and assume she’s adopted except she’s damn near is her father’s female twin.
Then you see a picture of her grandfather and it all clicks. He was black but was absolutely white passing. Whatever gene for his skin tone and eye color 100% was passed on to her.
Learn basic phrases in every language
It’s a fun party game, but the downside is that we get racially profiled no matter what race they’re looking for. I get “random” extra screening literally all across the world. Security staff going, “do you think he could be … yeah, I think he could. Grab him out of line”
White mom black dad, most Cali kids learn/speak decent Spanish bc it’s taught in school and it’s kind of everywhere around you growing up
His father is black and his mother is white.
Yes he is the very ambiguous combination that around 80% of the current NBA is. link
Don’t let Stephen Jackson see this
And wasn’t it KD who said he thought Steph was white when they first met? lol
Ambiguous means you don’t know what someone is. Lol
Yes they were being sarcastic
“Confirmed his ethnicity?”
Part Black/Black American? Or you think he could be part Black from somewhere else? Nope, Dad is Ed Gordon, from Black Amer community- he grew up in San Jose, CA (hence the spanish, probably) in a predominantly white neighborhood. Has a sister and a brother, who tragically passed about a year ago. 😔
Damn that is sad
San Jose is Spanish in name only, at least currently. Not sure what it was like when his dad grew up but as of the past 20 years at least it’s like 75% Asian lol.
I just realized it’s probably because his Dad, Ed Gordon played 🏀 briefly in Mexico City, where the game was played tonight. Scratch the San Jose rationale. 😆
Probably just the time he spent in Arizona at school
I buy the conspiracy theory he’s Aaron Judge’s brother.
Not really lol Hes clearly just black American(which means some degree of white ancestry even if one of the parents isn’t white like Gordon’s mom is). It’s very different to how the global Latino belt looks.
Did you say he’s clearly just black? His momma is white.
He’s not black
I actually remember some “Gordo’s” from school, least that’s what I called them
Eddie Gordo!
a perfectly balanced tekken character! (don’t ask me who my main was)
I think they call them “Tortas” nowadays
Fat Alex with the nuggies
Alex el gordo
Andres Gordo. Andres was right there
LMAOO 😂
Not bad, no doubt he has been practicing
Definitely you could tell he was nervous
It’s funny how a guy playing at the highest level to a global audience on live TV can still get nervous public speaking
Kawhi: hey hey hey
Blake Griffin mentioned that doing stand up in front of like a 100 people was one of the most nerve wrecking things he’s done, or something along those lines
-it’s quite reassuring to me.
Griffin is obviously great at comedic acting and being in front of the cameras now that he’s done playing. Stand-up was still intimidating. That means we can all exceed our expectations of ourselves! Courage isn’t the absence of fear, it requires it.
Not really, it takes practice to get comfortable with public speaking in front of like 20-50 people and it’s a step up to 20k-50k people.
Then do it in multiple languages.
It be like that
Thinking excellence in one skill means someone must good at everything is classic halo effect. People shouldn’t be listening to actors or athletes about finance or politics. Then again, AG is probably an exception
No one said anything about finance and politics (and I 100% agree with you there, I’m totally against celebs in politics)
What the commenter meant was that these NBA players already have such a huge platform and constant interaction with public (fans, endorsements, appearances) along with pre and post game interviews. You would think they would be amazing at public speaking. But I suppose it’s a different skill like you said, and obviously for Aaron Gordon it’s a different language which will always be hard. I’ve spoken to professors who are fluent in English who still admit they get nervous on occasion when teaching a new subject.
playing basketball in front of a crowd is much different than speaking in front of a crowd, especially in a language you’re still learning
Public speaking is one of the most widespread fears among us nervous nelly humans.
Public speaking is a top 5 fear bro.
Ehh not as good as Blake Griffin.
Hola Mexico
How does one learn so much Spanish?
I think he practiced a lot
If you’re not being ironic (idk how much Spanish BG knows ), I have a Spanish tutor and try to immerse myself through music, video games, and movies
Think of it this way.
You have beginner, intermediate, advanced, fluent, and native (although fluent speakers like a public speaker or professor can be better than a native if that makes sense).
I would say he’s like low to mid intermediate. If he dedicated himself through study and like immersion he could easily get to advanced and possibly fluent.
Hola*
Hola.
He should listen to goalkicks during Mexican soccer games
the bar for americans is so low if this is “not bad”
Bruh, dude speaking Spanish and they put him a translator saying the same thing behind lol
That’s actually cracking me up
Like Don Vito getting English subtitles
Yeah but we needed those for Vito
The rent stays like-a before
we needed them subs. don vito was speaking harry kane level english fluency
bro I was tilted. I thought op had a second stream going on or maybe there was lag. And the translator is literally translating for no reason lmao. felt like he was ad libbing live
Translator wasn’t about to lose his game check
I honestly don’t even care how good he is, I love this guy. Keep him on my team forever
mr nugget for a reason
Should have been something like this iconic Blake and Luka moment
This will never get old. In hindsight it should’ve been obvious Blake would make a great pundit.
I love this clip. But seriously, Blake, you can’t even try to pronounce Mexico correctly?! Also funny is right off the rip you can tell Luka learned in Spain 🤣
the fact that he pronounced it like a gringo was the joke lol
thanks for linking that ngl never seen it before lol
Im gonna watch that every single time it pops up
First time I’ve seen a translator having to translate the same language lol
He is from San Jose California for sure he knows some spanish
dude was born for this moment, literally- his birthday is on Mexico’s independence day
Speak a little Spanish for em, Aaron! Blow these people’s mentalities!
I grew up near there. Can confirm. Lots of amazing Mexican food too lol
He also went to Bellarmine Archbishop Mitty, prep school there with a foreign language requirement
He went to Mitty, not Bell
Fixed - thanks!
And then to the u of a which has a huge Mexican influence
His Spanish was so impressive they changed the name from Saint Josephs to San Jose
Aye infront of thousands of strangers I would be nervous af doing something I’m not comfortable with yet
What is going on with the audio? Did they have his mic quiet and his Spanish is being translated to Spanish…?
Translator said he’s being paid to translate so that’s what he’s gonna do
He should have translated to English
Indeed lol
there’s a skill to projecting your voice like these arena announcers so the whole crowd can hear clearly, even if it’s going through the speakers.
I think that’s why people are confused. AG probably nervous so isn’t projecting like he would in english, the other guy is using arena voice
“Vamos Nuggies”
I didn’t realise Aaron Gordon is related to Antonio Gordo from Barcelona
aarons invited to the carne asada
I appreciated the Spanish to Mexican live translation
AG is the man of the people.
What a beautiful man
Now let’s hear Blake Griffin
Hola MeXico
I believe it’s spelled Mecksico
Oacksacka in shambles
Let’s see Blake griffins card
The tasteful thiccness of it, oh my god 😰
Get a team in Mexico City already. Jeez. These leagues need to focus on expanding outside of the US.
No sabo kids better step it up
Very formal Spanish
Anthony Gordon could never
speak a little spanish for ‘em, derek
Dude is from San Jose, California. If you go outside, you will learn a good amount of Spanish. Great food, diverse population, and good weather.
Aaron el gordo-” gracias por su pollo 🐔 y su polla 🍆” he did a fine job tho
Vamos nuggies!
Buenas dias noches muchachos
This guy is so naturally cool
Mind if a white boy speaks a lil español
Props to you for not seeing color. Because you are definitely not seeing color
Soy daltónico
Hes black pal
He’s white too.
He’s Latino
Lmao
Good accent.
Aaron Gordon may be about to do Yao Ming numbers in the 2027 All-star voting. He’s got China with his shoe brand and maybe Mexico by speaking Spanish and ethnic ambiguity.
