At this point a 30/7/7 game is a “stinker” lol.

Crazy to even say that but it’s true😭

23 but didnt even play the 4th Q

Yep, i check be box scores in the morning (the games happen at night time for us here in Europe) and see Luka had like 42, 9, 8 or something similar and just glance over it like, meh, just an average Luka game… Even a Luka 50 piece does not feel special anymore the way it did even for Wemby or any other player.

Imagine dropping 28 points and watching your scoring average go down.

for reference jokic is averaging 23 lol

Just based on that you’re as good as the best NBA defenders

I believe you cause i remember our national media reporting on that tournament and its where i first made a mental note about him. Lazio, was it?

You held him to 54? Motherfucker color me impressed

Still better than Collin Sexton

that’s quite good considering he is averaging 40 at fucking nba. gianlu_world is doncic’s father.

Wait. Wasn’t this the tournament he got the media expousure & scouts saw him? Shortly after he went to Madrid. Basicaly, you are the reason he is now in the NBA, it all started with that 54. Thanks!

Shit, he’d score 200 on me. Good for you

that’s really cool

That’s the first time most of us in Slovenia heard about him. Didn’t he have a 50 point triple double?

Did he talk trash? No shame in getting scored on, some players can only be contained temporarily.

Yeah, I feel you bro, I played against Sabonis when I was 15 and they won by 50 points. That’s when you learn that there are level to this game.

Any other Luka stories?

Lakers in 5 - Shannon probably

Hey Nico your fat boy isn’t quite washed yet it would seem

Stephen A voice

It’s genuinely insane that he increased his FT% by 10 points over the summer

Not just solid, he’s actually been good.

He doesn’t play just solid defence bro. By any metric he is playing excellent defence

He does get lazy on rotations and very often leaves his man open still tho, but if he keeps scoring like this who cares 😂

Nico, secret Lakers fan, actually cooked

If Luka can keep this team close to the top of the west and is able to keep this level of play then he has to be the MVP.

It’s the inverse. Now he is 4th.

It’s really close between Luka and Wemby at the moment. Wemby’s 29/12/3/1/5 with league best defense is crazy as well. They’re also top 2 in +- with 3rd place miles behind already.

Could be a historic MVP race if they both keep it up.

Even the biggest hater can’t deny what we’re witnessing

Averaging 40.1 ppg on 68 TS%

The last person to average 40 through the first 10 games was Wilt in the 60s, Luka is crazy.

absolutely ridiculous🤣

If he had his usual shooting night from 3 he would easily get at least 60 this game

If he wasn’t throwing some bullshit all game he’d have even better efficiency, he tries like 3 heat checks a game

Yeah he had a terrible 1st quarter

Was thinking that watching yesterday’s game. He makes it look so easy.

“if Luka did that his averages would go down”.jpg

No he’ll get tired, average 36, lose the MVP. Just wait, 2 bad games in a row and the media and this place will be like “you can’t win with this guy”

It won’t be sustained but truly impressive

Honestly give me that Embiid stretch. Was playing nuts on defense too.

Harden 29 and 33 games lol like come on

Copy and pasting my comment from another thread: But that 2013 ~ 2020 stretch from Harden was unbelievable. One of the greatest and most dominant offensive peaks in the history of the NBA. Harden’s combination of high usage, hyper efficiency, and playmaking might never be seen again in the NBA.

I know Luka is the closest, but Rockets Harden was an iron man and supremely athletic, you had to foul him in transition otherwise he’s tomahawking or yamming it on fast breaks.

MJ scored 40 in 9 games straight (with no threes) and Triple Doubled in 10 games straight.

People need to realise that Kobe doing that in 2005-2007 is the equivalent of someone averaging 50+ across 10 games today.

prime harden was on another planet.I think Luka can surpass prime Harden but it is gonna be a tough ask

harden averaging 42 on 44% from the field is diabolical lol

he was getting the whistle of a fucking generation. i remember he had 20 points on 0-10 shooting or something ridiculous like that

Out of curiosity, can you add the average FTA on each run here?

Pace-adjusted to the 2026–27 NBA:

Kobe (06–07, 7 games): 53/7/3 Kobe (05–06, 13 games): 47/7/6 Luka (26–27, 7 games): 44/8/8 Harden (18–19, 29 games): 42/8/7 SGA (24–25, 7 games): 41/5/5 Embiid (23–24, 17 games): 40/12/5 Luka (25–26, 13 games): 40/8/7 Harden (19–20, 33 games): 39/6/8

How many of these are MVP years?

Their TS%:

Harden (29 games 18-19): 42/8/7 on 44/38/89 (FG/3P/FT) | 61.1% TS

Embiid (17 games 23-24): 40/12/5 on 57/42/89 (FG/3P/FT) | 68.9% TS

Harden (33 games 19-20): 39/6/8 on 47/39/86 (FG/3P/FT) | 64.9% TS

Luka (13 games 25-26): 40/8/7 on 49/40/82 (FG/3P/FT) | 63.5% TS

Luka (7 games 26-27): 44/8/8 on 52/43/87 (FG/3P/FT) | 70.5% TS

SGA (7 games 24-25): 41/5/5 on 55/36/90 (FG/3P/FT) | 67.2% TS

Kobe (13 games 05-06): 43/6/5 on 47/40/90 (FG/3P/FT) | 60.8% TS

Kobe (7 games 06-07): 49/6/3 on 48/45/88 (FG/3P/FT) | 60.7% TS

FINALLY some context..I remember that Kobe stretch vividly

Kobe’s stretch during the sexual assault fallout was god mode.

Also Kobe, 16 games in 2003: 40.⁴⁄₄.⁹⁄₃.7 on 47.⁵⁄₄₂.⁹⁄₈₅ splits. Lakers went 13-3.

Or if you just use the 13 games straight of 35+ in that stretch, he averaged 42.⁴⁄₅.²⁄₃.5 on 48.⁷⁄₄₅.⁵⁄₈₅.6 splits. Lakers went 11-2.

That was when Phil Jackson said to dial it back so Shaq doesn’t lose interest as they approach the Playoffs.

Also, pure biased mention but deserves recognition:

Brunson (7 games 23-24): 38/4/9 on 51/44/88 splits

and 5 playoff games, 42/4/9 on 50/34/82

Kobe with 49/6/3 over 7 games? Bruh! 😭

I remember he had a stretch of 40 point games, but it was near 50 PPG is something else!

Embiid is the pick imo considering he was also a dominant prim rim protector while most of these other runs were poor defenders

The funny thing is Luka has been playing great defense since the start of the season to those that are watching games

I thought he played good D tonight again. Obviously he ain’t kawhi but he’s looks very engaged and like he’s working his ass off to make a difference on that end of the floor

They can keep crying while Luka plays defense just fine and gives you 40 bomb every night

10 games

I’d love to see it but idk how sustainable this is. His team needs to help him out. Every single time he sits they just throw the lead.

Stephen A Smith “HES AVERAGING 40!”

Triple teams sooner or later.

Dude people have had stretches on par with this for way longer time periods

You’re way over your skis with this take

We’re like 10 games in bro 😆

And yet the team is still buns. 2nd easiest schedule in the league and he has to drop 40-50 for yall to sniff wins???

The transition to the Lakers being Luka’s team is complete. Luka is putting it all on the table and making a statement this season.

Reminds me of Kobe when he was the only thing the lakers had. Except Luca can do it all and js

Good defence is an overstatement

They must not be from Dallas, wish the team would’ve relocated after the trade.

Forgive some of us…tge trauma response is real lol

Even a title wouldn’t make up for me not being able to watch prime Luka on a nightly basis play for my team. I get that it’s probably a hot take, but i genuinely looked forward to every game.

Luka proved WITH THE MAVS that he can carry a team by himself. Why would they not want somebody like that? I never understood it. They went to the fucking finals bro

We’re the victims. I was promised prime Luka, win or lose it would have been cinema to watch.

We do daydream of Luka coming back.

And shouting Nicoooo as if the ghost of Nico is in their house

Or maybe just happy from afar

Luka is scoring more points per 36 minutes than Wilt did in his 50-ppg season by a healthy margin.

The difference is even more impressive when you realize that teams scored more points per game then than they do now. (But unfortunately per possession stats were not available back then).

It’s insane anyone would even consider trading him , let alone for one pick. Shoulda of been vetoed harder than Chris Paul.

Lakers were for sale and needed a superstar to increase the value for them, and essentially all owners. Nba gifted him to Luka for the 1st overall pick.

Raw talent basically. He just doesn’t miss.

Watched him from rookie season and his whole career basically.

He’s deceptively big, thick and strong with elite deceleration.

He’s copied a lot from prime Harden since that was when Harden was basically unstoppable and they both have elite deceleration. It was crazy to see Luka switch up his play style on the fly and just succeed. Crazy talented. He’s experimented a lot, sometimes he even decided to be a big and bully smaller defenders with good old center moves during his fat era.

Luka also got elite vision, handle, fundamentals and loves pressure. We joke that he would should better with a hand in his face than when he’s wide open. Often joke that his FT% would go up with a defender lol. So that ability to make tough shots is inherent with him.

Harden would be my best comparison with better passing but worse FT shooting and better mental.

Breaks. Luka’s ability to hit the breaks and then go again is out of this world. If you’re a gamer, he’s like a dark souls or elden ring boss. Long wind-ups, dealyed hits, sudden explosive movement, insane strength and stagger break, and a deceptive distance of attack. That’s Luka Doncic

He’s elite at slowing down which is far more important than being really fast.

I think also goes to mention how well he plays absorbing contact. He foul baits but a lot of time they are and ones which allows him to score even if the whistle doesnt blow in his favour.

I remember hearing about how Paul Pierce had the best footwork of any player in the league and that’s how he could score close to 30 a game while looking slow and unathletic. Luka has INSANE footwork. Just knows exactly where and how to step to find space.

He’s just really really really good that speed is irrelevant. That’s it

I think it’s more of reading defenders. For example in isolation plays he reads how his defender’s foot is planted, possible help defense, etc. more than just trying to be quick. Ball handling is still there of course.

But I’m also just a casual trying to give my opinion so I can feel a bit like an analyst

Yeah but that one rookie on the Warriors told the media he didn’t have any respect for Luka!

He’s huge, strong, very shifty, and very good at creating separation.

It’s a style that focuses on precision over brute force. And his timing is weird. You’re not practice against many Lukas out there.

He’s bigger than most guards. Thats why he drinks cappuccino while shooting 3s all in one motion.

It’s pretty amazing. He clearly wants to make a case for MVP.

My question is whether this is sustainable, wand I think it is NOT. He is still only 27 years old, but 36 minutes a game is a lot at 2026 NBA pace, especially if he decides to get serious about defense and wanting to be fresh for playoffs.

He is chucking 13.8 three point attempts per game (which would be highest in history if sustained. Harden holds record with 13.18 attempts pee game in 2018-19) AND shooting >.400 from there. If he could keep it up, he’d break Curry’s single season three pointers made.

Bird wasn’t fast like those others. To me thats the closest comparison in terms of speed

Watch Jeremy Lin on how he break down Luka play style https://youtu.be/CTDqJNnoq54?si=x8kRo0nexwTjQqLU

Summary : Luka has the deepest bags of offense , his crossover is multilayer and the only way to stop it is to double team him or pray his shot doesn’t fall

He’s James Harden.

With Harden it took till December to do so, with Kobe in 2006 it was later in January really… in this specific case I think Luka has better teammates than both, particularly AR is the guy you want to play 4vs3.

The thing is they arent. Every laker that plays in the rotation can hit the three, well besides obviously kessler.

They’ve been doing that in spots, but you can’t do it the whole game. The warriors doubled him every time he crossed half court it felt like.

They did that to start the season and it didn’t work either. I was thinking they’re better off just playing him man and nope lol.

Every time that’s what we did and look what happened

Nick Nurse did this to Harden during his peak, curious to see if he does it to Luka when they play Phily

They’ll do it in the playoffs and the Lakers will be out the first round

Two words. Luka doncic and ausar thompson must see tv

Ausar 4 fouls at halftime

Ausar can lock down 85% of NBA players but great offense beats great defense.

Kawhi dropped 55/11/2 on us last year and Ausar was on him like glue lol

Sure if you assume there won’t be any flailing or flopping. But we both know that’s not going to happen and Ausar will have to sit 3 minutes into the game because Luka fell.

Lakers fans act so persecuted as if Luka isn’t on top of the MVP ladder rn LOL 😂

it’s actually 40.1ppg after tonight
