My “coming of age” moment when it came to realizing mainstream sports journalism was complete nonsense that I shouldn’t pay heed to was spending basically the entire year before the 2018 draft feeling like it was basically a universally forgone conclusion that the kid who was sonning grown men in the second most competitive pro basketball league in the world would be the first pick, only for the talking heads to try and drum up drama for ratings during the NCAA tournament and leading up to the draft with “but does Europe really count tho”. I can’t believe they deadass gaslit not 1 but 2 NBA front offices into committing that kind of basketball malpractice.

Yea my guys good at bully ball and post footwork and he’s an oversized guard that shoots like steph with hardens step back and he has the playmaking of magic he’s very unique and not at all unrealistic

Glad I can say that unironically watching what I’m watching with luka

I knew it was turning around when after he dropped a couple, he hit that 1’000 foot bomb 3-Pointer to end the half. Trailblazers were still leading by 7, but it felt like they were in trouble. And I swear you could see it on Portland’s faces, too.

Reaves and Co are playing very well offensively. They are the best offense in the league right now and its not in spite of the rest of their roster.

No.1 offense in the league…. stop your bullshit.

Kessler stepped up in a way tonight we haven’t seen all season. Luka and Reaves were struggling, but he still managed to get his points.

No easy lobs unguarded. Even made at least 1 shot that wasn’t a dunk. Not trying to disrespect Kessler on offensive, but I was surprised he was able to put a few in all by himself and help keep it close until the Dynamic Duo got back to normal.

You missed your shot. You could have been a scout/talent evaluator for Nico before he got axed.

offensively he’s pretty much the best to ever do it, real ball knowers not afraid to say it fr

Yeah wtf. I only saw the first half and had to get to work afterwards. They were clamping his shit down in the first, legit some of the best defence I’ve seen played on Luka.

They were hacking af

Yeah, defense was super tight.

yeah bc they grabbing and pushing him out of his path the whole game, if they actually call all the fouls they commited on him he would shoot 35 FTS. LMAO

This is sad bc of how many times it’s basically happened

Imagine if you didn’t get Flagg too… Nico is a criminal

Mine too, brother…Mine too.

Generations bro. Your grandkids’ grandkids will hear about this trade.

YOU COULDA HAD FLAGG AND LUKA

…and we could’ve had Luka too I know. JJ is alleviating that pain rn.

So every night?

I was at a bar with the boys and other random guys all kept saying shams got hacked,

Then when he tweeted “im not hacked”, the bar went nuts

How can the NBA rig the draft if they only missed the playoffs cause AD got hurt in the play ins. Sometimes people are just terrible at their jobs

“Makes sense” is strong wording.

Kyrie got hurt, as well as AD and they missed the playoffs by 14 points. What are you talking about?

This conspiracy is honestly dumber than moon landing denial.

“The only thing that makes sense is this massive conspiracy theory”

Can people stop being so fucking conspiracy brained.

Here comes Kuminga with his high IQ takes

Because stars often pass their primes before hitting 27.

People need to realize that if they have the same take as Nico on Luka, there’s something terribly wrong with them.

A Lakers legend.

I think he should be fired again from whatever he is doing.

By Lakers fans, lol.

Dallas should issue a warrant for him.

Rehired, Promoted, Demoted, then fired

Yall fucking believe that a GM which a year earlier built a finals roster around Luka suddenly lost all his brain capabilities? No wonder guys like Trump become president in america when the population is that fucking easy to manipulate…

You’d have to put him in protective custody.

He’d get shanked in General Pop.

He could’ve done it even more if reaves didnt get 4 of the intentional foul fts lol

He would’ve stayed in anyway. NBA cup is also decided by point differential.

Yeah but it’s the cup so we’re still underwater in point differential.

You are so welcome. And also for us completely giving you that game. Gg

I actually don’t mind him sitting out.

Luka is playing so hard my main worry is he will wear himself out by the time the playoffs begin. I’d rather have Luka for ~60 in the regular season, and in decent shape for the entire playoff run.

Only Wilt and Jordan have 3000 point seasons. It would be the 1st time someone’s done it in a generation.

No way. Even if he plays 70 games and averages 40, that’s 2800, both of those numbers are probably optimistic as he never plays that much and its impossible to reach those 75-82 games these days especially with this usage, and well we are talking about averaging 40.

Some of this supporting cast in the Finals run can really help the Lakers out. PJ Washington and Gafford in particular.

Sexton is struggling pretty badly, but Grimes was pretty decent tonight.

Also, Sexton & Grimes are Guards. The Wings would be Williams, Thybulle, LaRavia, Mamukashvili, and Vanderbilt. Also, Theiro is pretty much an unknown at this point.

Stfu and move on. It’s been quite a while already.

Besides, he’s winning with Sexton and Grimes, no?

Kobe would have killed for this supporting cast in 2006

LukAngeles Lakers

Exactly

Many people had already decided Luka sucked somehow despite being bonafide top 5 since the start of his 2nd year

They hate that he’s playing at simply an undeniable level currently

absolute cope to pretend he’s not the greatest scorer of all time. It’s LITERALLY 40pts any time he wants it. If he gets ONE ring without a superstar #2 he’s #3 behind MJ and Kobe in my book. Three rings but never had an all star center = #2. Minimum, he ends up ahead of Bird on any goat list.

They think its an anomaly. They think they nearly got it. Its only a matter of time. Let Luka do this for 50 games, the one game he doesnt, theyll be back in full force. Its what happened to Wemby and Sga last year lol

The divorce and custody made him strong

Dunno if this helps but here

the short answer to your question is, “nobody knows”

His usage rate is insane and he’s averaging big minutes. He’s assuredly going to get hurt at this pace.

He can’t, you are underestimating fatigue, injuries, and the Lakers playing better teams later down the line. One 20 point game where he is like ⁷⁄₂₀, and he goes back to 38 for example

Luka is averaging more points per 36 minutes than Wilt did in his 50-point season.

They said averaging 40, not 50

still hasn’t been done since the 60s

Your mom is an easy game

That’s still 40 points on FGs

Damn impressive

watch the games ya dog

Lakers and Blazers shot an identical number of free throws tonight.

Thunder fans glazing Wemby who eliminated them last year just to discredit Luka is an absolutely shameless behaviour

Dang it

It will come down to stats if the team record is close enough.

Luka will get it if it’s close because voters will assume Wemby will have more chances in the future and Luka needs a major NBA award at this point in his career.

Can’t wait to see Castle try to lock him up.

lol I just don’t think we need to rely on Wemby as much as Lakers rely on Luka. But then again Wemby really does want it, so can’t write him off.

It’s first to get 35-5-5 with five threes in seven straight.

Wilt averaged 50 there’s no way

First player with 35+ points, and 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists, and 5+ made 3s

Maybe to start the season?
