That’s so nasty. I can’t imagine trying to guard him
his handle is disgusting. probably the most underrated part of his game
Best handle of anyone taller than Kyrie in NBA history imo
Especially when he’s kicking his feet out to foul bait
Actually one of the coolest things I’ve seen an NBA player do. Great awareness
Takes zero effort for him in that moment but those kids are going to remember that for the rest of their lives.
And on the other hand you have Shedeur Sanders who wouldn’t autograph things for kids during practice because it’s bad for optics lmao
The anti-Iverson
Just want to add in, Shai is notorious for signing tons of stuff for fans before games. He’s legitimately an awesome guy
Signed 408 things (bananas/posters/shoes/jerseys etc) before game 7
I have not been the biggest SGA fan, but it’s never been about him as a person.
Either way, this just shot him up in my book.
He seems like genuinely such a good person. I really do think if he just didn’t jump and fall when shooting so much he’d be an absolute fan favorite.
I think it’s a perfect storm of OKC being contenders and winning it all, as well as his rise as a premier player in the league. There wasn’t must time between the two, and the way the team acted last year in the playoffs when things weren’t going their way was also a big turnoff for a lot of people.
But the falling on every single midrange jumper he takes is obnoxious to watch at this point IMO. Its like his natural follow through this season to kick his legs out from under himself after the release.
So that’s why he falls over all the time
Always cool when an athlete realizes he can make a lifetime memory for someone else
If those kids got courtside seats, then chances are they loaded lol
Yeah but it’s still a fun memory
no only poor kids deserve fun
They’re literally sitting Courtside at an nba game lmao
I feel like one of their parents is loaded and bought the friend group court side tickets
That’s fair
Okay? I think kids with wealthy parents also deserve cool childhood memories…
They are is my point.
I’m sure you agree with that, but I don’t think that was the point in that comment lol
Who gives af
Anyone who has more money than I do isn’t permitted to experience joy, only guilt and shame.
you forgot the corollary: anyone who has less money than I do is broke and lazy and needs to get their bread up
The Menéndez Kids
lmao
Shut up
Courtside…in Memphis?
Yes. Court side is expensive at every arena. Knicks fans are so weird
Lmao like, the kids themselves aren’t rich. Let em have a good time!
I didn’t say they were cheap, but I don’t think being able to afford a $400 ticket makes someone loaded. Go throw batteries at Santa, and shut the fuck up.
What’s that got to do with anything
They likely to have tons of lifetime memories.
Could be some kind of make a wish thing
So wholesome, those kids are so happy
bro on the right is BEAMING
“Guys I’m never washing my hand again”
At the end of the day, he just like me. I threw that hand in the trash.
Elite ball knowledge
At least one of those kids is a future league MVP, mark my words. This video will be on Reddit again in about 15 years.
À la Messi/Yamal
NBA is a rich kids’ league now after all, so you may be right
They will never forget that moment. That was so cool to see
Sure, but when Ron Artest interacts with the crowd he gets criticized.
I love that this not only using interact lightly but the term criticize is being used almost more lightly lmao
Shai Worldpeace
lol
Tinsley from the top rope!!!!
this is an all timer lmaooo
truly a lifetime memory for those fans.
SGA is incredibly gracious with fans. When many NBA players will duck and dodge fans, he will spend more time than most signing autographs at every game including away games. There’s a video of him signing autographs by the team bus in NY whilst a heckler is hurling insults at him the whole time. He just ignores that one jerk and makes the day of the fans that have waited for him.
Took my 8-year-old son to an NBA game last season. I had heard that SGA was generous about signing autographs, especially at home games, so we made a plan to get there early and wait in line for the doors to open. We get in and bolt it to the section by the tunnel he always stops and signs in after his pre-game routine. My son and I both were pretty dejected at first, though, because we could only get down to about the 12th row of that section, and there were 4-5 other dads with their kids “in front” of us closer to the railing…and it was like that in every row below us as well as the section on the other side of the tunnel.
So, SGA starts making his way off the court after his pre-game, works his way down the front row more under the basket and slowly up the railing in the section opposite my son and I. I still encouraged my son to push through and go to the railing with the other boys whose dads graciously let my son through to stand with their kids. But I felt pessimistic because by the time he would possibly make it up to the row my son and I were in, he would have spent 10ish minutes signing who knows how many autographs. I couldn’t even see my son, so I was just waiting and hoping. Eventually, my son pushed his way past the dads in our row beaming as he held up his freshly autographed SGA jersey. It’s now authenticated, framed, and hanging in his room.
I guess I say all that to say, one, I couldn’t believe how many autographs he stopped to sign; and two, he created not only an unforgettable memory for my son, but for me as well for getting to share that with my son.
I remember that one video that the NBA released before Game 1 of the Finals (I think?) that showed him signing 400+ autographs. He does this every… game and then goes out and shoots 55% from midrange. This dude has wrists of steel.
The coolest part is when he runs all the way past everyone that has good positioning for autographs, and goes allllllll the way to the other side of the bowl to start signing before coming back. Literally makes a horseshoe around the lower bowl. We’re so incredibly lucky to not only have the talents on this team that we do, but the people as well.
What a lovely story! Thanks for sharing. I’ve been collecting autographed jerseys for a couple of seasons now and have a list of the most gracious players and the ones who are nearly impossible to nab. SGA is in my top 3 and I got my jersey signed in an MVP year when he was at the peak of his popularity. Really nice guy.
Pretty sure there was a clip from our playoff run where he signs like 200+ autographs
I remember reading that he spent an hour or so signing autographs before a finals game started.
I think it was 400+… Now I gotta go find the video again brb
Found it, he signed 429
Wasn’t this specific video during the Finals? I can’t remember which game it was.
Game 2 but he signed a ton before every home game
Those kids all had the biggest smiles on their faces 😂
Single handedly converted those kids from Griz fans to Thunder fans. All with the touch of his hand he saved those kids from a lifetime of misery
Lmfao
Aura
Even as a dedicated SGA hater, I gotta give it up. That was cool as hell. Made those kids’ night.
I’m more dedicated than you, he’s getting fouled in this clip and that’s all I care about lol
Those kids will remember this moment when they have kids. It’s the little things
Nah Spurs fan here. That’s cool as shit can’t even hate, I still have memories of Jason Giambi falling onto me and my brother in the stands this is a lifetime memory
I coerced my way into running cable for the video crew under the net for a regional broadcast back in the KD and Russ days vs. the Phoenix Suns. One play KD took a fall under the basket and landed on me and my cameraman. It was awesome lol. I was so in awe I forgot to help the camera guy up, he was pissed.
Never did that shit again though, it was so stressful.
My dad took me to a Royals game in 1994. I was seven. We were down behind the Royals dugout during warmups hoping to get an autograph from…anyone. Anyway, I was standing in the front row right behind the dugout, and 1994 AL ROY Bob Hamelin starts walking off the field and to his dugout; as he’s about to enter the dugout he takes out a ball, signs it, and flips it up on top of the dugout right in front of me. Several other kids lunged for it, but it was right in front of me and I nabbed in.
Have no clue where the ball is now, not that it’d be worth much as 1994 was Bob Hamelin’s lone good season. But that created a memory still ingrained in my head 32 years later.
I’m a die-hard Vladimir Guerrero supporter because he threw me a baseball in pre-game warmups when I was like 6
Only superstar I can rely on to put on a performance every night
Ironic that you didn’t think of KD
Hes not gonna be chucking anymore
SGA’s game is just so smooth
Travel
Should’ve been, but gather rules make travels non-existent nowadays.
wait, there’s uncalled traveling happening in the NBA?
Yeah so smooth while he’s on the floor
On the floor cause he got fouled btw
Over here being miserable on a clip of a guy going out of his way to make some kids night
ain’t my kids why do I give a fuck
Miserable mentality
Shai Gorgeous Alexander
They will remember that for the rest of their life. Awesome
Those kids just became lifelong SGA fans, so cool
This is prolly my new favorite highlight, missed it live. Something went right with Shai, he really seems like an instinctively good natured guy. Very blessed to have him on my fav team.
Shai skill wise is the best player in the league right now. Just pure finesse and a buttery smooth middy. Reminds me of Kobe skill and footwork-wise. Love to watch him play.
I don’t care how much this sub cries about him he’s in my top 4 favorite players right now and he ain’t leaving it anytime soon lol
Wholesome merchant
dope af
It doesn’t seem legal that you can jump that far backwards and then jump again to shoot
Been saying that since Harden started doing it like a decade ago.
My goat
My Captain
My flopper
ruined the quote ugh
Absolutely beautiful. Best player itl.
I wouldn’t call that dancing, that’s pretty good defense
honestly good defence better offense
Yeah he forced a tough shot which he missed. Got bailed out by the lame ass kick out foul where somehow you’re allowed to jump backwards and kick your legs forward creating like 3 feet of space where a defender isn’t allowed to close out. If you step out to play defense you’re gonna be in the area where he’s extending his legs and inevitably get some contact.
SGA gets a lot of flack for foul baiting but outside of the free throws his game is genuinely so beautiful sometimes
And he does seem like a genuinely cool guy
There are some nights where it gets maddening to watch him in the midrange because it just looks so stupidly effortless for him. Just 20+ points on shots you don’t even question if they’re going in.
OKC, unlike the tiktok highlight reels have you believe, rank 23rd in free throw attempts. SGA need to foulbait to equalize that disadvantage.
Yep. 31 to 16 free throws tonight in favor of MEM
This year
Dude, we were 29th in free throw differential the year we won the championship lol
So
and in previous years 🤦♂️ meanwhile lakers lead every single year without failure
No no, it’s because they have AD that causes mismatches and also they just don’t foul on D /s
What does that prove
last several years they have always been mediocre to bad in generating fouls. outside of shai, there’s really no one that consistently generates fouls for them.
the free throw narrative is so forced
He does embellish, but he also is just tough to guard because he is so fast and nimble.
He’s literally getting a free throw IN THIS CLIP
The defender literally runs through him as he is landing from a step back shot. Any player in the league would get a free throw for that.
No it’s not lol. Other NBA players say he foul baits.
And other NBA players have no reason to perpetuate the narrative?
You realize Luka and AR combine for more FTA than 2 SGA’s. This season so far and last season.
Shai is black so he’ll get a disproportionate amount of hate for doing the same thing
Yeah they foul bait
Funny as fuck coming from a fan of Mr FT himself
Did I say Luka doesn’t?
other nba players also say he doesn’t, meanwhile quite famously luka and reaves are known for flopping and whining so what’s your point?
Who is whining, they do too
Peyton Watson who was the primary defender for the Nuggets after the game the other night against the Cavs said “keep doin your thing” to Shai so maybe those narratives are just a figment of your imagination and not actually based in reality
Peyton Watson never really guarded SGA it was Brauns primary job.
What does “keep doing your thang” even mean? 🤣 SGA is obviously numerous levels above Peyton and he enjoys his game.
Doesn’t mean it’s not helpful
Lmao well if we just get to pick and choose 1 player who says something that we supports a player we lime and establish it as 100% fact…
I’ve always said this. Shai is a foul baiter, not a free throw merchant. They’re different. He’s still incredible without FTs, but his game can be painful to watch sometimes
It’s not man that’s what makes it so fucked up. Like dude is a damn mvp. He doesn’t need the ridiculous fouls.
I really shouldn’t be annoyed cause it’s rare for any rival fan to say anything half positive about Shai for some reason, but “outside of the free throws” is annoying as hell when it’s been proven time and time again that his FT numbers and fouls drawn rate numbers are about average at best for his caliber of player. It’s completely made up and if social media didn’t exist none of this would be a talking point
Same with Luka. Both are actually some of the nicest superstars
I give flak all the time. But yes, his actual game is awesome
And he’s obviously a good dude
This is a flop. And a travel. Honestly a travesty. His game is amazingly beautiful sometimes. This ain’t it.
It was a clear foul.
Some people can’t see hits below the waist.
They can’t be calling something “Sissy’s Log Cabin”
