A Cavaliers fan hits a halfcourt shot to get \(10,000. Another Cavs fan takes a half-court shot after him, and he makes it too, for \)10K!
This is crazy, lol.
The guy after them was not too far off, too (hit the front of the rim), btw.
The next one bricked it
Edit: Forgot to add the video - via Streamable
Was gonna say must have sucked to be the 3rd guy
Even more so the 4th guy, who air balled it sideways
The girl took her shot while the first dude was celebrating. I wonder how close she got considering the lights dimmed and the strobes were going crazy. Sounds like the announcer even tried to stop her
Cavs fan can shoot because even in the OKC game the misses weren’t terrible lol
Okay
^ this guy can’t shoot
^ this guy is clearly good at drawing fouls from the promotional line during halftime
Hey why’d you delete the Free Palestine post
We all know why
Reminds me of Semi Pro when they can’t afford to pay out the corn dogs
“Jackie I tried to cash the check”
😂😂😂
Can’t you know just cut me one of those regular sized checks lol
We’ll have you tried bringing it to a really big bank? One with a really big checking department?
And the dude he went from the chill, stoner, big-check guy to Rorschach for his next role
😂😂😂 he was dead serious too!!
The check has glitter on it mannn
Dukes!
“And Jackie Moon gives us a victory lap….right out the door!”
“Corn dogs, Jackie. Corn dogs… For all these people.” - Father Pat
He just won a cheque that says 10,000 dollars on it

Aahh, good times
we used to be a proper country
😭😭😭 truer words may have never been spoken
Well, we’ve got an especially dirty hippie here…
If a 3rd guy would’ve made it the corporate sponsors would’ve sent a hitman
First is they review if they stepped on the line… If not then that lol
Imagine them being that petty and measuring to make sure he ain’t’ do like KD
I mean the hornets took an Xbox away from a kid that he had fairly won
Seriously?
What’s the story there? I understand being an ass about 10k, but an xbox is like 500. Was this during the MJ era?
Tropics level of pettiness
Corporate sponsors don’t care, insurance pays out all the winnings. Matter of fact, the sponsors probably love the publicity from this.
Fair to point out multiple companies have gone to embarrassing lengths to try and avoid a payout
Its the insurance companies. Insurance companies will go to any length to not pay claims they’re supposed to pay.
A guy hit this a few games ago, when Crump said you can’t touch the halfcourt line I promise that came from the insurance company.
idk man. search in this sub history. there’s a history of someone who win it and they tried to not pay him because he played in D1 or some team. almost needed to take to the court, but when the news started to do the damage they accept to pay him.
They would phase this shit out so quick 😂😂
Dan Gilbert on the phone “shut it down…. NOW!!!”
Dan Gilbert is a lot of things, but he ain’t cheap when it comes to his basketball team
He’s giving Harden 100 mil, this is at least worthwhile.
I’m sure they would’ve dug deeper to see if they played ball growing up and excluded them after the fact
Send in Jackie Moon to dispute it.
Think it was a girl
Yeah it was
Even the fans have extended their range. Thanks a lot Chef.
The guy from the spaghettio can? What he got to do with this
Boy are dees fans getting good.
“Fuck. We really got to pay 20k?” - sponsors
Recently watched a YouTube video about a Bulls fan in the 90’s who hit a full-court shot for $1 Million. But the insurance company wouldn’t pay him, because he had played basketball before.
He eventually got paid, rumor was Bulls players got involved. The guy saw Jordan later on and Jordan said “We made them give it to you”
EDIT: Contract dispute was because a participant could not have played organized basketball (college, high school, or competitive leagues) within a specific timeframe, which was 5 years. Calhoun (the fan) had played college basketball for a small community college a few years prior.
The contract dispute was about playing college basketball within 5 years, not just playing basketball.
I should have put that, I’ll edit.
The first thing I thought of when reading the title.
Oh man yeah like pros hit full-court shots all the time lol. Good on the Bulls players for doing that
Peak LeBron would have jumped on both of them
Scroll way to far down for this. I was waiting for him to tackle the kids.
Never forget when a Pacers fan made a half court shot in 2023 and only won $500.
Still better than nothing, but pretty weak.
I got to go out on the court at a Mavs game for a layup, free throw, 3 pointer and half court shot contest.
The half court shot was for a TV.
I made the layup and free throw and got a blue ray player and a \(100 gift card at a store that the cheapest item was like \)300
It’s almost insulting. I’m a (long-suffering) Mets fan, and they always have people running bases or kids hitting HRs with a wiffle ball and bat, the usual nonsense, and the grand prize is… a $100 gift card. To Delta. Or Toyota. Delta, sure, I could see if you’re flying 75 miles, but Toyota? Does that even get you a full set of replacement wiper blades?
Honestly would rather have missed that shot, knowing i made one to get like the worst prize possible is something I’d never forget
We present to you this giant check that says $10,000!
Remember when this used to be $250k?! Recession indicator
I remember when it was a milly
If I remember correctly, the million dollar shot used to be from the opposite free throw line which is a MUCH harder shot to make.
First dude was way too chill about that lol
I mean, is 10k, with the current economy and inflation of the last years, he can’t pay with that a shitty second hand car or even a semester of college.
or completely revamp his lifestyle to live simply on an intentional community or off a bicycle/van life and sell all his stuff her currently has….
I’ve lived mostly moneyless since 2014 and I was averaging about \(2,000 a year in Portland....an outlier to be sure...but \)10k to someone like me is YEARS worth of just existing on the planet….
10k is not enough to pay only the rent in a garbage studio in a medium crime, low cost of living - that runs easily over 12k. Now add utilities and food no chance you are surviving on less than 15k without some government assistance. Families cant live in cars and vans so what works for you may not be easily applied to 99.9% of the population. Plus 10k is really 7-8k in taxes - enough to cover food for one person for the year if you meal prep and buy the cheapest shit possible. what a tone deaf comment
Nothing like just existing ….
probably a courtside fan whose daddy earns $2m a year…
I…I don’t know how that correlates
Mfs can’t even be introverted or laidback anymore without someone trying to accuse them of being a piece of shit in some form or fashion
Ikr. People are so odd. Maybe he just doesn’t show a lot of emotion for things especially in public lol what’s the problem
Cause 10k to him might not mean as much to the guy from the upper deck who can only afford 4 games a year?
These two kids made more field goals the Bron and embiid combined
I wonder if that glowing hoop improves peoples shooting %
Was at this game. So fucking loud.
Dakota you bum
The Steph Curry effect
Sucks for Dakota
She has two states to call her own. She’ll be fine.
What do you mean?
What do YOU mean?
the cavaliers had installed the bigger baskets since LeBron was coming to town.
I watched this video AND DIDNT GET SHIT
Start to finish, and I didn’t win shit. Wtf?
Damn, we got half-court shot inflation.Still before GTA 6…
Cavs and their fans all shooting lights out from the field smdh
Poor Dakota!
Nba forgot to turn off the magnets lmao
Tax free?
Hahaha after taxes they probably got like $7300 or somewhere around there.
Someone is getting fired
That shot should be worth more than $10k
why? I’ve done it for free dozens of times.
It would make a funny gofundme, though. So maybe these fans should start one to get properly compensated.
Shit, our mascot hits it while facing the wrong way on a regular basis.
How many fans do you think make it? How rarely do we see videos like this.
my guess would be about 1 or 2%. If the contest is pre-qualified (i.e. only competitors who have made a three pointer get a chance at the half-court distance) maybe 4%. If the entrant is selected from a pool of local high school varsity players, maybe 6%. Lots of variables are in play and these are just my guesses off the top of my head. I’d love a source with actual data.
For a \(10k payout, I'd absolutely pay a \)100 entry fee with zero hesitation. That’s 100-to-1. I’d probably even consider paying at 25:1, which seems like a pretty fair bet. (24:1 if I get a t-shirt too).
But when the entry is free? Who is to say what that should be worth?
It’s certainly not something we see every week, but I’d say it happens least a few times per year. Of course, at many games, there’s zero attempts because they are doing different contests. And at this game, there were multiple people given a shot.
Usually they require contestants to not have any organized BBall experience – which would trim that percentage a lot.
craziest shit ive seen on an nba game live, deadass the chances of this are so low
Too bad Lebron didn’t hug any of them
Sponsor in absolute shambles 😂
