Tatum (24) and White (18) outscore Charlotte (39) in the first half
24 FGM, nineteen of them being assisted. They closed the half with 8 straight assisted baskets; constant cuts, DHOs, guard screens, give and gos—this is a well, well, well coached team
No idea how or why anyone thought they wouldn’t still be great
They are still elite against shitty teams and will get a ton of regular season wins just due to effort. You’re right that they are very well coached.
That would require fans to watch and think critically about the game rather than just regurgitate box score stats and spew hot takes based purely on makes/misses.
Nobody thought they wouldnt be great
For now theyve been great against bad teams
They’ve been great regardless vs anybody for years and will continue to be with Tatum on the team
Calm down the rockets just smoked us and we should’ve lost to the nets
On a back to back
7-2 with the best point differential in the East, wait until there’s a reason to cry please.
Should’ve lost isn’t a loss though. I should’ve fucked the prom queen cheerleader captain.
Why would that change the fact that the Celtics are always good and don’t have that much to prove in terms of “can they compete at the top?”
We have no been great against good teams this year.
We have not been great against good teams this year.
Great teams aren’t the only teams in the league
They are a very good team but I still think our bigs will get destroyed by real contenders in the playoffs. Mitch does not look like the same player and Queta gets bullied. I’m guessing 50+ wins and then a second round bounce.
Tatum is so smooth
This really sucks
Sorry man y’all deserve better. Injuries suck. Lee is a good coach so hopefully things improve
The injured guys wouldn’t fix this.
This team is utter dogshit.
I mean with Miller going down, Naz is the only one in the starting lineup who’s healthy
Yeah having 3⁄5 starters back won’t fix this!
It’ll make it prettier losses but clearly bigger issues here
Yes it does.
Losing is one thing. Losing with depression inducing boring ass basketball night in and might out is so much worse.
Wasn’t this sub calling white washed like 3 games ago
The sub (both this one and the Celtics one) was calling white washed all last season
This is karma for our front office blowing up our most exciting team in 20 years.
Sure the play-in went poorly, but blowing up the core for a 2033 draft pick and Naz Reid (who very obviously does not want to be here) was such a gross overreaction. Truly a franchise killing mistake. Our fanbase is 100% out on the current leadership.
Yea they out smarted themselves with the trade. I understand the LaMelo ankle concerns but it’s funny how we now need a true playmaming guard to keep the ball handling away from miller and Kon.
How can you lump Kon in that sentence when he’s played a total of 5 minutes this season? Not fair to him
Naz looks like he’s checking in for his shift at Walmart out there
25 mins of lamelo a night gonna suddenly make this team with no bmill or kon competitive. Gonna give myself a concussion rolling my eyes at fans who think the 25’ hornets roster had any staying power as a competitive team.
I have no dog in this fight even though I’m from NC, but yeah you’re right. I understand fans being upset because for once it was fun to watch the Hornets but they were not going to do shit. I think the real mistake was not trying to milk Minny for more in that trade.
I don’t think they were going to get more. It was the first season in years LaMelo was mostly healthy and that was on a minutes restriction. They thought they were selling high and until I see a couple injury free seasons from LaMelo it’s hard to blame them.
With the Hornets luck I could see LaMelo having a lot of healthy years in a row now lol. I think if fans stay patient they can come around but I understand that trade being a huge mood killer.
We’ve lost some close games that we probably win with Melo though, and Miller didn’t get injured until this game.
Sure but you know what the worse thing in American sports is? Being mediocre. There’s no way out of it. LaMelo is obviously a better offensive engine than anything on the roster and has potential with his length to be a plus defender one day if he can stay healthy. But he wasn’t developing the traits needed to be a focal point of the team here and it’s likely he won’t. He has injury issues, can’t make physical buckets, and is a weak defender. He is much more suited to play with someone like Anthony Edwards than being the guy himself.
The team as constructed now isn’t built to win which sucks to hear as a fan but the FO isn’t trying to be a perennial 6-10 seed with play in or rd1 exits. Free agents aren’t going to come to charlotte so they have to accumulate assets to maybe one day be an actual competitive team. Talent acquisition isn’t exactly fair in the nba they gotta play the hand they’re dealt.
Oh, good, we can just be fucking terrible for 25 more years instead of mediocre! God knows we certainly wouldn’t want to accidentally ever make the playoffs.
Are you aware of the lottery changes? What you said doesn’t apply anymore because the worst thing you can be now is really bad. Mediocre gets you the best chance at a top draft pick
Sometimes it’s just about those 41 games. LaMelo filled the seats, no idea wtf they were thinking here.
Is there another Bmill on the hornets or what? Brandon Miller been playing all the games no?
He got hurt tonight, Kon has played 8 minutes, Coby White missed more then half our games. None of these injury issues is even digging into the run we went on in the second half of last season not being sustainable.
Ball would not have saved this team this year. He’s good, but he’s not Superman. This is a mediocre to bad basketball team that has had extensive injuries. Moose, Kon, White, Grant Williams, Dennis, etc. have all missed games and three of those players have missed multiple games.
Has any team lost more juice since spring than Hornets. Damn they fun to watch.
A mix of injuries and our FO trading away our best player and blowing that team up has killed any hope for this team.
Even at the time, I genuinely just don’t get the logic behind the Lamelo trade. What the hell made them think it would be even a slightly good idea?
Almost the entire fanbase was pissed as soon as the trade was announced. I feel like our GM fucked himself and will be out of the job pretty soon, especially with us looking this bad.
The problem too is we’re missing a player exactly like Melo, so trading him just makes our GM look even dumber. Apparently he wanted to trade him as soon as he got hired too, makes no sense.
Everyone is hurt again, which is no surprise
I have a feeling this is gonna be a “fuck you” year for Jayson Tatum
These courts are horrendous
It really isn’t.
Agreed, I think it’s a nice blue.
The blue courts are def less eye searing than the red, yellow, and green courts.
The red courts are so bad man. They always kill it with the grey courts because the contrast with trophy and logo always pops out. They should just make that the standard for all of them
It looks great in person
It really is
Abomination for sure
Well, you know, LaMelo Ball wasn’t a good enough Christian for Jeff Petterson’s sensibilities, so they just HAD to trade him.
Always been a big fan of Derrick white since he was a spur
Can someone please turn that court down?
Great PR team and gravy……….
Whenever i say i’m out, they pull me right back in
Jayson Tatum is the best basketball player on planet earth
No Kon, Moussa, Grant Williams. Miller left the game early and Coby is playing hurt
I don’t know how they can survive without Grant Williams
He’s not as important as the starters missing but he’s a huge piece of the veteran depth of this team. Great second unit scorer. It hurts not having him when other guys are out
The other 4 guys you mentioned are starters, and if Coby is not he’s a great 6th man. On a decent team, Reid starts, Salaun plays the backup minutes and Grant only plays in garbage time. He’s a dumbass who is slow and short - Dallas and Boston both figured this out.
Coby does start. You’re right about the other guys. But Grant is a big piece of this Charlotte team and that hasn’t been our experience with him. He sets the tone defensively, good shooter, coach in the floor and important second unit veteran. Hornets may always have taken a small step back this year for long term growth but they have been a shell of themselves because of injury.
But that game 7 against Milwaukee…
Can’t believe they got rid of lamelo before grant williams
Tabum
Or maybe it’s early in the season and Tatum is finding his rhythm. He was just missing shots in the pistons game and was double teamed in the rockets game, the Thompson twins did not lock him down.
