Ironic given how much rain and flooding we’ve had in soflo lately lol

And sand

Bill Simmons said it. And everyone clowned him.

I think Kenny called it in some video, like he wouldn’t be surprised if Heat sucks and their defense also sucks,.but he said they would figure it out sometime in the season.

Fam they said Jimmy wasn’t competitive and just wanted to go to the beach and fuck girls when he went there. He immediately made the finals, then an ECF 2 years later, and the finals again a year later. People talking with finality don’t know shit, especially 10 games into the season

maybe im scarred from finals Wiggins but I thought for sure Wiggins/Giannis/Bam would at least be good defensively

I didn’t think they’d be bottom tier defense exactly but I did think there was a very strong chance they miss the play-in entirely. I had them in the 9-11 range

Kind of giving them too much slack. These are the best of the best and should know what it takes to build a good team and play well with different types of players

There were also some pretty smart people presumably in favor of the trade like Riley and Spo. I don’t really get dunking on Giannis/former players here when those guys, who we generally consider great at their job, thought they could make this work. I think we can assume they figured Giannis a great player and were a great organization so let’s just get him in, but Giannis may well have thought similarly about just getting there.

I always laugh when fans go after coaches who actually played and coached the game. Doc the coach, inconsistent and terrible at adjustments. Doc the analyst likely spot on

I think G and Bam can play in the half court (both can screen, pass, finish, and exploit mismatches) but they have to embrace it.

He’s right that Giannis has a terribly low IQ, makes it hard for anyone to coach him up, even Spoelstra.

right. My point is that they have the number 2 pace but it’s not resulting in wins, so they need to have some slower possessions, too. It seemed to me last night that the Warriors found the Heat predictable in the second half and locked their defense in. The Heat didn’t adjust.

have the personnel to play out of the half court

I somewhat disagree. I think they can make a decent half court with this roster (but not a great one). Giannis and Bam give the Heat two excellent interior players who can screen, pass, finish, and exploit mismatches. That’s a strong foundation.

Since neither G or Bam can’t shoot outside that well, then the question becomes whether Miami has enough shooting, ball handling, and off-ball movement around those two to make a deliberate offense work. I think they do and, mixed with some good transition, can make a solid offense.

Miami blew their load to get him, idk if GS had a comparable package.

Im so happy the Warriors didnt trade for him. We would be in roughly the same boat, no picks, no depth. Funny enough though the warriors do have Cap space next offseason.

What did the Warrior offer at the time? The Bucks wanted to maximize their returns and if I recall no other team wanted to give up as much as the Heat.

exactly. if he said GSW or nothing, bucks would’ve had no choice but to grant his wish even if bucks fans think gsw’s package was ass. But he didn’t even put them on his list.

Imagine refusing to play with Chef 🤦‍♂️

he bet the under with his kalshi boys

Nah, he should have tried anything and everything possible to land on the Spurs/OKC, especially the Spurs. There’s no chance that if he made it public those were the teams he wanted to play for that those organizations wouldnt try to trade for him. So much bullshit talk about not giving up young pieces. Giannis goes there, plays with the younger guys and helps them grow, doesnt have to tax himself as much carrying the burden of the offense/defense. I just cant get my brain around why someone with hundreds of millions would want to go to Miami when he can go there in the offseason esp with only a few years left in the league. Seemed like he went only for the nightlife because even a college player would look at Miami’s roster and see even with Giannis a trip to the ECF would be considered a success.

The Bucks were never going to just give away Giannis for free though, if he went to the Wolves or Sixers it would have meant gutting the roster and leaving that team in the same spot the Heat are in.

He also pushed the Bucks to make moves that ended up shortening their window. Hes mostly why they had a window at all, but almost every move after they won the title was a net negative.

Giannis pushed for a lot of them. Didny help that Horst and ownership are a bit of a mess.

Yea but that would’ve ruined the Kalshi sponsorship!

LeBron is smart enough to move during free agency.  If you demand a trade somewhere then you might get there but that team will give up the talent needed to compete to get you there.

Lebron was also at the peak of his powers teaming up with 2 other All NBA guys. Giannis’ prime may be at/near its end, and even though he regressed in the time Lebron was there, Wade was still a much better second banana than Bam

At least Bargnani could shoot lol

Up there with the fabled “what’s shooting?” Drummond, Monroe and Josh Smith front court.

Big Greg Monroe - Andre Drummond- Josh Smith vibes lol

After this past summer, I thought I was PTSD-proof… I thought wrong.

Fucking bagnani

100%. Hot take but Wiggins is the most important piece Heat need to replace ASAP and while we can talk about the Giannis/Bam fit issue, poor shooting, lack of hustle getting back on d, etc. they’re never going anywhere without a viable 3rd option playmaker/scorer. Ironically, a player like Herro is exactly what they need with this roster.

Put another way, the only time Wiggins ever looked like a winning player was when he had Steph/Dray/Klay/Kerr propping him up and that kind of ideal situation ain’t gonna happen in Miami.

I’m a bigger fan of B.Wiggins.

Acting like Aaron Wiggins didn’t save basketball…

I’ll take Reaves for Bam tbh

Austin Reaves is worth one of Giannis’s toes, maybe.

Nah bro giannis doesn’t fit with Lakers at all. I thought he would be awesome, like an AD, but giannis is bad off ball, he doesn’t set screens and doesn’t run pick and roll well.

Come on don’t be ridiculous

Bam for Luka

People think Giannis is this elite defender and he’s some mythical free safety defender that can do anything, like AD in his prime, but he is not that guy. His BBIQ is average and he looks completely lost without a system tailored to him covering his shortcomings on the defensive end. If you replaced him with AD right now, the heat would legitimately be a good defensive team, bordering on great.

At the end of the day though, this is all on the Heat FO. Bam should’ve got his ass shipped out. This team would actually be nice if that had happened.

No, he meant they don’t say nice things about each other

how is it that so many people mess this up? Absolutely mind-boggling

Reddit buzzword comment, no way you were downvoted for that unless you are talking about the Heat sub ahahah

This entire sub has been making fun of Heat and their optimistic fans since LeBron announced to philly

“Face to foot style… how’d you like it?”

“Now try MY NUTS TO YOUR FIST STYLE!!”

How is it Docs fault lol

The irony that a Doc quote came out saying Giannis is hard to coach because he wants to brute force everything and yet we are blaming Doc when that has been Giannis’ brand of basketball since he came out as a star. It got him a ring but if you’re trying to pin it on a coach how about Bud who was his longest tenured coach that people wanted to axe for years prior to the ring lol

Just tells me you haven’t watched him lol but it’s Reddit you can say what you want and get upvoted for it.

What???

What’s Luka got to do with anything? 🤣

I don’t think that comment proved anything. It’s a good general comment for understanding defense, but I do think Giannis was supposed to get through that screen and I do think he was unaware of where he was supposed to be. At the very least, I’m confident Spo isn’t asking him to handle screens like that regardless of whether it would have been a switch.

You guys didn’t know POTS was an acronym? Peace Out, Thanks Sir

Kalshi got him covered

annual value hardly any different though

it’s just an extra year, which yes maybe would be hard for a 35/36/37 giannis to recoup completely, but it’s not totally lost

I bet he signs the 5 years then demands a trade halfway into the season if nothing changes

If he does I hope he’s prepared for a ton of blowback considering he preached to hell and high water he wanted to stay in milwaukee but “winning was more important”

It’s funny people think he won’t re-sign. Miami wouldn’t trade for him unless he’s re-signing. He can’t sign until January.

They were a pain in the ass for years against the bucks and bam was a giannis stopper. Pretty lame leaving to one of our biggest rivals so this is awesome to watch

Did you not follow the whole trade saga? Seems like he wanted the Knicks then they won, then he wanted Celtics and they wouldn’t give up the assets.

I mean there’s plenty of time to turn it around, and I’m not counting out an org like the Heat building a contender by next year if this one’s a wash

This is the same fanbase that said Jimmy went there to sunbathe on the beach though so

the Heat were always set up to contend in year 2 instead of year 1 anyway

i love how we’re like 9 games in and everybody thinks it’s over. Heatles started like .500 after 20 games

if they don’t have it together by like New Year’s I’d worry more but this shit just started and they clearly havent figure shit out on D

He could live in Miami in the offseason and fly there on a private jet whenever he wants. He can live there when he retires. What does living there during the season, when you’re on the road a lot anyway, really do for him?  I think he’s kind of just a dumb guy who didn’t realize the team would be bad.

That’s hardly a hot take when everyone has Shai, Wemby, Luka, Jokic as top 4 and very easy to argue a 5th guy

Why would Spoelstra be in trouble?

As long as Pat Riley is alive and kicking, Spoelstra (rightfully) has the best job security in the league

He won’t be in trouble he’s the longest tenured coach in pro sports and he didn’t build this flawed roster.

I feel like last few seasons Ive seen a lot of Heat fans not be nearly as positive on Spo as everyone else is.

No he wouldn’t, why you talking nonsense?

Wouldn’t Riley be in trouble instead? He is the one responsible for building this roster. There is only so much Spoelstra can do when the core pieces don’t fit together, most of your depth got traded away, and some of your key contributors are old/washed.

The heat could lose every game for the rest of the season and Spo’s seat would be hot as ice

This is hitting like crack

I mean, they just rejoiced together with a Klay game winner. Check our last ten years of west coast trips. Idk why you’re a Heat fan spreading the hate fuel for other teams.

Im glad

The Heats offense hasn’t been terrible. It’s their D that’s been beyond bad. Pretty much everyone looks lost out there.

Wiggins been playing like ass. shit is half the problem

A guy that is a shareholder in Kalshi might be a locker room cancer? Color me shocked.

Bucks fans for years were saying they were getting this kind of attention because Milwaukee is a small market but I think they were selling themselves short, it’s Giannis.

predicted*

George Santos style

And then he’ll hide behind the “aw shucks I’m just a humble basketball player” facade when pressed on it

Remember he is a father first, then a NBA player.

The ol’ Giannis special.

remember the ladder lmao

you don’t think that impacts why people criticize him for acting like a child

we know ginnias is an amazing player and won a chip. so he gets more flak cause he should know better

Oh yeah the one time giannis ever had playoff success was that time he barely scraped by in 7 games against a team missing two superstars. I almost forgot

Everyone beats the Nets bruh

Geniuenly one of the dumbest decisions of all time by him tbh. He could have signed the deal without the player option, hit FA in 2010 with Bron and Wade and he could have convinced them to go the Knicks when they were already considering the Knicks 😂

I’d be very curious to see how LeGM operates without Lebron to help him

This has been a discussion point since melo went to new york (at least as far back as i can remember). All these guys know this its just hubris to think they are the one that can fix everything.

I mean, part of it is he can’t and could never get a supermax. It only started becoming an option in 2017, and by then he had long lost the eligibility for it. His move to Miami might’ve looked a lot different had he been eligible for 35% of the cap instead of only 25%, especially considering how early into his career it was

The super-max should come with a non-waiveable no trade clause; that way both player and team are committed to each other for the duration of the deal. Make maybe the NTC expire in the last year of the deal so if it’s really not working out there’s some flexibility.

Glazing aside he’s right though. Signing the supermax and demanding a trade is not going to work in this era where things like depth and fit matter so much more. You will gut the team of the depth that made it good in the first place.

this has to be bait lol

Nothing to do with sticking it out. Demanding a trade on a supermax just means teams gotta send out other sizable contracts for you, depleting the teams you want to contend with.

Bron strongarms teams to acquire talent around him, Giannis did the same by threatening to leave over and over again over the years

Did LBJ not win a ring with a homegrown star named Kyrie Irving with his hometown team?

Really reminds me of the first year with KAT. Miscommunications everywhere, could never be on the same page defensively, constant finger pointing after a defensive lapse. Miami is worse though because they have a worse team.

Klay and Wiggs are not the defenders they used to be either.

yeah but even good not great should be yielding them a better defense with bam, wiggins and davion in the lineup, is the Bam + Giannis pairing redundant defensively?

I wouldn’t say it’s diminished a lot, but damn near every year since his dpoy his teams have been horrible defensively outside of him and with his play style there’s no way he can do it on both ends and carry every night. You can watch the end of close games to see how good his defense is still.

Most notable thing to ever happen on January 6th

Giannis gonna storm into kaseya center and demand a trade

Enes Kanter and Meyers Leonard Day 🥹

It would be very funny if Bucks ended up with Giannis in basically the same way that the Blazers ended up with Dame.

I don’t think they could say no if he did wanna go there, but man would that absolutely destroy the vibes of the end of Steph’s career if Giannis is there and it goes poorly. He kinda is starting to feel like a black cloud when things aren’t good anymore.

When Kerr has players who can play his system it’s insanely good. There’s a reason it’s like 22-2 in the playoffs. It’s just hard to find role players that can do it and you don’t know until after they’re on the team. For every Wiggins, bjelica, and Niang, there’s an oubre, Dlo, and Kuminga. Downside is, it looks like shit when then can’t run it and you prob missing the playoffs. The system never changes tho.

If they hit, all of a sudden it looks like random guys are starter level nba players and the whole “strength in numbers” thing happens.

It does look solid but I don’t really believe it for some reason. Wanna see how it looks in January. The only team I kinda have faith will be contending is OKC.

They do seem solid. I’m loving it. But waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak. Not trying to be pessimistic.

Let’s give credit to Dray, BP, and the rest of the squad too

Steph can’t do everything himself in a team sport. If teammates can’t hit a corner three when they double Steph, there’s really not much you can do. It’s actually how the Warriors beat Lakers a few days ago. They doubled Luka and no one else could hit the broad side of a barn.

Is Steph plying good again? If he is I might start watching highlights at least.
