I don’t remember Luka EVER being number one on those ladders
He was in first place 4 years ago, on November 18, 2022
Has his own team + being a Laker. If he put up a couple of his seasons that he had in Dallas for the Lakers instead he would‘ve been much more recognized. Spotlight is now on him
Yea this is exactly why he had an insane March last year yet somehow dropped in the MVP race during that same time
Shoutout to my boy Harrison Barnes. Still bringing the hammer at age 72 🔥🔥🔥
The Black Falcon soars again
CAW CAW
For the last time, it’s GREEN FALCON.
Mr. 100%
Senior citizen alert!
It’s crazy that LeBron was already an unc back when Harrison Barnes was a young buck on the Warriors in those first couple of Finals matchups
Now Barnes is a senior citizen and LeBron is still a top 15-20 player in the nba (that can peak as a top 10 or higher)
Honestly if you asked Bron to give you 5 minutes I think he can still be the best player in the world for that stretch. Maybe longer. But then he will be le tired.
LeSciatica
‘I am LeTired.’
I want to see him in the finals one last time so bad (against Curry, of course).
One day someone will cite this as “But he finished as a top 14 MVP candidate two weeks into the NBA season!” the way people pretend finishing 5th in MVP voting is a career accolade.
…No they won’t.
One day I need to sit down and do some serious research into when exactly half the people on the internet collectively forgot what jokes are.
While you’re there go ahead and find out when the bar for what qualifies as a joke disappeared.
Yes, it’s an absurdism or sarcasm poking fun at the stat and the idea of Barnes being here…
Have you not come across this concept before?
Redditors never cease to amaze me with their lack of social cues even in text form. I got the joke.
It’s SCOTTIE Barnes…
I swear some people here think 5 straight Top 5 MVP seasons is better than just one season where you won the MVP.
Actually that sounds like a pretty interesting debate. If you could add a guy to your team and had a choice between a guy who won one MVP but didn’t come close in other years, versus a guy who finished top five for five seasons in a row, who would you choose?
If everything else is equal, clearly, clearly the later. easy. A consistent top 5 player is somebody you build a franchise around. Somebody with a single good season and many that aren’t isn’t going to be consistent enough for that.
This is basically derrick rose Vs jayson tatum
Chris Paul is who I think of for a guy who didn’t win MVP but was always in top tier discussions for a good while. Famously not a champion.
But then you have guys like Derrick Rose who did win MVP and had an amazing peak, but it was short. Also not a champion.
Top 5 and I don’t think it is particularly close.
This is basically asking if you’d rather have 1 year of 2010-2011 Derrick Rose (MVP 1), or 5 years of 2019-2024 Luka Doncic (MVP 4,6,5,8,3) lol
Would you rather have Jerry West or Derrick Rose?
If I’m a player, I’d rather win MVP than not win MVP.
Not that it would have ever happened, but Rose could always say “yeah but you never won MVP” to West.
This feels like bait
never forget him reaching the peak of mt pekovic with a thunderous slam
“Jordan vows to wipe out ISIS”
am I missing a joke? That’s Scottie barnes
I think you mean Scottie “Harrison” Barnes
Yes you are.
None of these players have played 65 games, so actually they should be disqualified
That said…
it’s been less than 10 games, who the fuck cares about “MVP Race” right now lol
Including Tatum?
As someone that hasn’t really gotten into this NBA season yet…
Ty Jerome is All-NBA now?!
He‘s basically the #1 offensive engine on his own team and he‘s doing well.
He‘s basically the #1 offensive engine on his own team
So he’s the point guard? Basically? Boozer is more of an engine imo but you do you
Grizzlies started 6-0 (then 2 loss) and Jerome scored 40 2 times and is having huge games, so hell yeah he’s in pace to become All-NBA
I love when dudes make leaps, good for him
Excellent shooter, has an insanely good floater game, tall enough to get his shot off consistently, and solid passer
Ty Jerome is basically doing Linsanity type shit every game
The headline agrees with you. He’s the only one who got his first and last name in the list.
He’s a fine offensive player who attacks from two points on the court and if you have aggressive on-ball defenders, he’s going to miss more than he makes, sometimes badly.
Yes, catch up
All I see is a bunch of bums and Ty “Michael Jordan” Jerome
MIP+MVP season ez
Putting him behind Jokic is pure disrespect to Ty
Preach
Can’t believe we let another perennial MVP candidate slip again.
Ty so good they made him #1 twice
4 first names is a scary sight
How is Flagg ahead of him
Honestly Cade’s been great but his counting stats just aren’t there yet. Partially because he’s not having to drag the team to wins by himself lol. Can’t be mad at it
Paul Reed has impressed the hell out of me. I knew he was a very solid backup last year but I questioned them moving Stew because I didn’t know if he was good enough to be the full time backup and he’s just stepped in as a starter with Duren out and they have barely missed a stride. Ausar also looks like he’s taken a playmaking step
I won’t lie, I hate the MVP discourse and it’s the worst part about this sub.
Especially when we are not even 10 games into the season. I remember when this was not even a topic of discussion till around all star break
On the bright side, we have a chance to set new records
“LeBron vs Rose was the most toxic MVP race in history”
“Harden vs Russ was the most toxic MVP race in history”
“Harden vs Giannis was the most toxic MVP race in history”
“Jokic vs Embiid was the most toxic MVP race in history”
“Shai vs Jokic was was the most toxic MVP race in history”
“Luka vs Wemby was the most toxic MVP race in history”
Na Jokic vs Embiid still holds the crown
Especially since it occurred three seasons in a row.
Embiid’s camp making it a race thing is still the messiest, most unnecessary turn in award history
The hatred that LeBron got in 2010-11 is unmatched.
Hsrden vs. Giannis was barely memorable for me, I dont think it should be mentioned with the others, which you have nailed.
I dunno, Giannis rifling the ball into Harden’s face was pretty memorable!
Harden vs Giannis is definitely memorable. That was when the Giannis no bag narrative started. Also unlike other mvp race, its not just the fans but also the players beefing with each other
Must be nice for you then lol…
Giannis won like 95% of 1st place votes despite voters swearing up and down it’s neck and neck in their mind, but whenever push came to shove all of them on pods said Giannis weeks to months out meaning it was never neck and neck for them. No hate, Giannis deserved it but it spawned Harden saying Giannis game has no skill and he’s just tall and crashes the rim. Morey had some crazy post about Harden hypotheticals that really made people scratch their head and basically said “Harden is our MVP not Giannis” lol
It also quietly changed how I viewed MVP and made me realize that voters DO lean waaaaay more towards players they like and not really who the most valuable to their team is. Bucks were the #1 team in the NBA but suddenly 4th place Rockers with Harden carrying G league players and having that historic month didn’t even get anyone to value him more than Giannis.
It was definitely a hot topic at the time. I still see people bring it up in this sub
I felt that one more than Shai vs Jokic, but maybe outside of the US is different
Harden vs Westbrook was the most toxic lol, that 1st round series was something u just had to be here for
Honestly after the last 2 years and how stupid this conversation has been, I’m just going to disagree with everybody and troll. See even if it’s thunder fans.
No, it should be “WEMBY vs Luka” /s
Jokic and Embiid was borderline vitriol hate speech by the third year
Agreed. Unlike some vocal people here, I enjoy MVP discussions (long as they aren’t toxic) but not THIS early. The sample size is way too small and any new teams are especially working out the kinks.
I’m all for giving guys kudos but I have no interest in deep MVP talks before January at minimum.
Kia disagrees.
Who would be MVP if the season ended right now isn’t even that horrible of a discussion sure there’s a lot of games left but you have to start from the beginning too, it’s not fair starting at the all star break and just looking who is good right then when all of the games should matter
That is a fair point and highlights how the MVP is more of a narrative driven award, even though highly important.
Changing a narrative is always more difficult than forming a new one so this makes more sense
I agree all games matter but when you start talking about major awards you need a larger sample size, remember Bubble TJ Warren was a top 3 nba player with a small sample size
It doesn’t have to be taken as something that has serious ramifications for how things eventually wind up. It’s obvious that it’s still early in the season and things can and will change. It can be both reasonable and fun to ask “if things kept going like this, where might we end up?” while still not taking it too seriously. It’s only toxic if you make it toxic.
No, it’s pretty dumb. Not only are we only 10% of the way into the season, but with the 65 game rule, you can safely bet at least 1⁄3 of these names won’t even be eligible.
At the All-Star break we aren’t just looking at the recent games, we’re looking at a cumulative season that is more than half over.
Luka’s usage right now has me skeptical that he will play 65 games
I just checked for the MVP ladder 10 games into last season (25’-26’) and it accurately predicted the top 3 lol
Wild 😂
Luka looking pretty damn top-shelf this year & have zero team bias
I don’t know what’s going on this season, but it feels like people are are making conclusions too quick about teams so early this season. It’s been kind of annoying seeing teams being declared as contenders, and other teams in big trouble already.
I’ve noticed that too. Usually people are talking about “small sample size” around now, but most of the podcasts I listen to are discussing playoff ceilings. Very odd.
MVP is already decided this early. It goes to whoever gets the narrative going strongest. It’s never just about players performance.
they saw SGA not leading and they don’t want to talk about it anymore.
I never barked about SGA being MVP the past two years till later in the season, damn sure not 8 or 9 games in
IMO this early is even more fun because of small sample size. If anything, I’m sad that there’s not a weirder top 5.
The Lakers have played one game outside of California.. They’re B2B games have been at Crypto and down the street at Intuit
Yeah no shiite Luka is having a great start
Luka is off to a nuclear start no doubt but like you said they have not traveled much, only played 2 teams with winning records so far and the teams they have played currently have a combined record of 22-35. I would like to see how they fair on a long road trip out east or against some upper tier teams
They’ve also played LAC twice, UTA, and SAC. Only teams they’ve played with winning records are the Warriors and Portland who people projected to be play-in teams. They always seems to start out with an insanely soft schedule.
It’s just luck of the draw. Utah was supposed to be good this season too
I enjoy it because it incentivizes me to watch a variety of games and form my own opinion.
Amateur. You don’t need to watch games to form an opinion.
We don’t do that here
My bad. Who should I apologize to?
I also prefer the MVP discourse waaay more than the GOAT debates.
I’m not casting judgement, but there are a lot of people who enjoy being an active fan for their favorite player more than they enjoy the sport of basketball. You see this same streak across culture from sports to music to politics. I think the NBA is probably the best American sport for this type of person because the players are very recognizable, play a ton over many years, and it is a very clippable sport, for lack of a better term.
And, perhaps more than anything, ten guys on the court simply means that star players have an immensely lopsided impact on the game. Can’t win a championship without other bananas to tag along but you can get prettyyyy damn far as the lone guy if you’re good enough (re: LBJ). I think this is what really makes basketball unique as a team sport.
What does Lyndon B. Johnson have to do with what you are saying
It’s also because most of the elite are internationals. Literally all of Serbs/Greeks/Slovenians/French watching the league will be Jokic/Giannis/Luka/Wemby stans without giving a single fuck about Denver/Miami/LA/SA
I’m not casting judgement, but there are a lot of people who enjoy being an active fan for their favorite player more than they enjoy the sport of basketball.
I think thats because the regular season in basketball sort of sucks. There is more interesting stuff to talk about because no one is really affected abotu whether the Grizzlies are for real 10 games in.
man my favorite team traded luka randomly, & its owners became basically nazi-adjacent right wing presidential influencers
yea, fuck supporting a team anymore. players all the way
My point isn’t about supporting a player versus supporting a team: that’s totally valid. In individual sports like golf it’s pretty much the only way to be a fan. I consider myself a Trae Young fan.
It is about enjoying “Stan” behavior. I think that has a negative connotation but I don’t mean it that way, I’m talking about making/consuming edits, fighting on their behalf on the internet, getting their merch, etc. And that isn’t wrong, but it’s a certain type of way to engage that is different than simply liking the sport. Certain people follow musicians in this way, some follow politicians this way. And for people who do follow the nba this way, Reddit is the perfect place to “ride” for their fav(s). But there are a lot of fans who don’t follow the NBA for that reason and they are the ones who get annoyed having trash slinging MVP arguments 2 weeks into the season.
oh, hey, don’t say that
there are so many worse things about this sub
It was a week into the season and there were toxic MVP arguments it’s wayyyyy too early
It’s just another way to keep people invested in gambling prediction markets.
This is the time to store up on ammo for later. Don’t waste it now!
It’ll make it hilarious when they get packed up in the first or second round
Even Adam Silver wants Luka to win mvp. He gave the Lakers a cupcake schedule to start the season. It’s like they play the Kings and Jazz everyday.
how would that help the mvp case? you would want to look good close to the vote not way before
Even the spurs schedule is weak like the lakers. Later on both teams will face stiff competition. I try to imagine them playing teams with elite defense like Detroit, Sixers, Celtics, Rockets, and healthy Wolves.
To be fair, Spurs/Wemby have shown they are a great regular season team who can take down any team any given night. They have the defense to match any team. Lakers? I don’t think so. They already lost to a good perimeter defense team in Portland, and a decent defense team in GSW.
That’s why I think Wemby is more likely to win this MVP thing. SGA too only if OKC wasn’t injury-plagued. Team success is important.
The only thing I hate more about the MVP discourse is the discourse about the MVP discourse.
The discourse about the discourse about the MVP discourse is pretty chill though.
Remember last year when someone would always post this list up to where Luka got mentioned. They would say “Kia top 2 MVP trackers Shai, Jokic and that’s it”
Professional haters
Guess they can’t do that bit now
“Kia struggling to identify clear MVP candidates”
The amout of hate Luka gets is becoming just as annoying as Luka complaining to the refs.
Luka fans are by far the worst part of this subreddit. Like even before 2022 they were so obnoxious about everything that it made me hate Luka so much more
LOL THAT is the worst part of this sub? Not the constant overreacting to every game? The constant hating on certain players? The talk about who might win the biggest individual award in the sport is the worst part? That’s a crazy take
Why do you think people do that?
MVP/legacy discussion is a big reason of why people are so hyperfixated on individual performances and shitting on other players
tbf, most of that is (sometimes) just apart of the overall MVP agenda pushed by certain fanbases
Don’t you know that Giannias is the most overrated player of all time, can’t play defense, and is uncoachable?
There shouldn’t be an MVP discourse until the allstar break at least. This is beyond silly
I mean yeah but it is never going to stop being toxic
Brother you’re in the thread interacting with it and commenting. If you hate the discourse then don’t read it and don’t give the Reddit algorithm reason to push the posts to you
Agreed. There shouldn’t even be a ladder til at least halfway through the season. About 10% of the way into the season with an MVP ladder is insanely pointless
Yup really only comes down to the top 2 players listed its luka or wemby this year
MVP and “which player is better” get old fast
It’s because FMVP and MVP are both Media’s Valuable Player.
They should have given those awards to the actual most valuable players and then it might mean something.
You’re not going to convince me that a player that created a 4v3 crossing half court was not the most valuable player in a 5v5 sport.
2015 FMVP was the nail in the coffin.
who defines what is “actually most valuable”?
Guys who say that usually mean the MVP vandidates that dont win cuz their team is trash and would be Kings level bad if they werent on the team
Whatever i think is most valuable is actually most valuable, if the media chooses someone else it’s a fraud award.
It’s way worse in football. At least the NBA is slightly more objective. My least favorite discourse in all 4 major sports is QB comparison. Cus a QB can lead the league in touchdowns, passer rating and wins and fans will just say they’re mid still.
I think it’s fun but comes up toooo much
Why isn’t Bronny top 10?
Like clockwork yearly. So boring, vapid, repetitive and reactionary.
MVP discussions before Christmas are completely pointless.
It gets the ragebait/engagementbait clucks
So many worst parts of this sub how did you land on #1?
I will say, it’s cool that 4 out of the top 5 haven’t won before. That’s neat at least!
Is it the worst because you find it reductive, because people tear players down in order to present their preferred winner as the better option, or something else?
I love MVP discussion and even enjoy some variations of toxicity but what’s your personal take?
Downvote it when you see it and encourage others to do the same
Worst part of this sub is def the “Le…” “jokes”
MVP, GOAT rankings, hatewatching
It’s all trash
All the raige bait posts with out of context quotes and the edited clips of ‘dirty’ plays is actually more annoying
My kid keeps asking who I think will be MVP this year and I keep telling him it doesn’t make any sense to try and decide that this early into the season. ESPN and other talking heads apparently don’t agree.
I will lie, I love the discourse, I think this sub should only be about MVP discussions
What’s the best part of this sub?
I dig the community aspect for the most part, but most threads are just upvote farmers and funny anecdotes. I suppose I get most of my news from here as well. Just curious from your perspective.
I really have no opinion on the MVP / Awards discourse up until it matters.
Yeah I hate the MVP discourse too because obviously Wemby should be #1 and it ain’t even close.
Thanks for not lying. We were really worried that you wouldn’t be telling the truth about an extremely common opinion on this sub.
I have had similar feelings more so about reddit in general. Some what recently it clicked I should just block this kind of content. Toxic MVP threads, blocked. Dumb spam highlight threads buckbuck blocked. Never see them anymore.
Then don’t click the MVP threads dumbass
The NBA needs its sweet narratives
Yea yea, anyway: -Doncic: He’s due for an MVP so he most likely gets this one. -Wemby: Probably the actual MVP but won’t get it because Luka needs his first. -Shai: Already has one and isn’t super popular so definitely not getting another one. -Maxey: Too much star power on his team and he’ll have to share credit for any success with Lebron. - Tatum: Weak storyline potential, media is trying to push the Brown drama but nobody really cares.
Lmao what a karma farming comment, the fanbase loves MVP discourse and it’s the content that gets by far the most attention, regardless of the form
I like how everyone has their last name but we have to put ‘Ty Jerome’ and op probably considered adding his SSN just so people know who he is….
I don’t really understand Brunson at 15 right now. It took an incredible shooting performance last game to get his season average to up to 41% shooting and the Knicks are currently 4-4, tied for the 14th best record in the league. I think he’ll get better as the season goes, but he hasn’t been amazing to start the year.
Giannis is at 8 with a losing record (3-6). These rankings don’t mean much lol
Only 1-3⁄1-5 matters tbh
Have u seen his stats? He’s one of the few good performers for their team
There’s a player averaging 40 points per game right now and their team is winning games. What has Giannis done in years besides ‘stats?’ How do those compare to a player averaging 40 points? What has he done to prove he is a winner recently?
Stats are one side of the story, anyone who watches that Heat team and understands basketball sees they are awful. Like how does their half court offense function in a deep playoff series?
Not like Giannis is #1 though, you think he should be below Flagg, Jokic etc.?
It’s purely the reigning champs and FMVP bump
Love Brunson to death but he has no business being on the list right now, the Knicks understandably have had a very mid start to the season
All you gotta see is Giannis on the ladder at all to know this is nonsense.
15th place in the actual MVP vote at the end of the year is, like, 1 or 2 votes. I think that makes sense. There’s always someone like that every year.
Brunson’s PR is better than any player in the league
??? Literally reigning championship MVP btw 8 games into the following season what are you on
Yeah, it’s safe to say it’s just some leak over from how they ended last season.
This is not a meaningful vote, it’s basically as useless as power rankings at this point in the season.
Anyone talking about an MVP award less than 10% into a season is a moron. Even more if they don’t consider past accomplishments.
Winning a championship helps, you wouldn’t get it
My team has won a championship before. Do you think the Knicks are the only team to ever win a championship?
Yes
I swear it’s only fans of teams Brunson has cooked that says shit like this
Has anyone from 1-14 been in law and order svu
He’s been heating up a bit recently, but it should definitely be KAT and not Brunson so far
Everybody’s better than him until it’s time to something something
lmaoooo
Giannis at 8 is nasty. The Heat suck right now.
Look I know Avdija has zero chance at MVP but how the fuck would Gianni’s be above him on current ladder? Heat have been ass.
Giannis reputation and PR
unfortunately for Luka, being ranked #1 on the MVP ladder actually moves him several places down the MVP ladder.
Yeah, he’s gonna get voter’s fatigue by the end of the season.
Luka plays well -> #1 MVP Ladder -> “a #1 MVP ranked player should be acting better/winning more” -> drops a rung or two -> repeat
Stop it you miserable fool. The reason Luka move down in rankings last season is because other MVP candidates teams are winning more than Lakers. Lakers were 10 games behind OKC and Spurs, you nuts. Now, Luka is at 1 because the lakers are winning. What’s hard to understand?
Doesn’t matter if you average 38 if your team is losing left and right. We don’t reward studio gangsters here. What you need to watch out for is the Lakers easy schedule will be over
Y’all want Luka to be oppressed so bad lmao. Biggest babies on the sub
I mean when Luka was on the Mavs and scored 73 in his 34/10/9 year i’m pretty sure he did actually go down in the rankings after which is where the meme spawned
Not necessarily a Lakers thing
That’s because the Mavs were in 10th place in the west.
We were 8th and tied for 6th lol. With a bazillion injuries.
It is pretty toxic in the lakers sub tbh. But I guess it’s the same for any other team rooting for their favorite players
Unfortunately Lakers fans are indeed especially toxic lol
Literally every Luka thread has multiple comments about how Luka is about to be disrespected or straw man comments that nobody has ever said before “Where are all the people who thought Luka isn’t good?” type of stuff. Like if it isn’t 100% unfiltered glaze it’s disrespectful
Every time he scores 40 or just plays amazing generally, there’s always comments on how this will make him slip in the rankings. It’s so tiring lool, people are too invested.
The guy (the one guy who makes this list) dropped him in the list for pure engagement bait anyway and it couldn’t have been more successful people will still be talking about it in 2030.
it’s just a joke guys you can all relax
Ok buddy
Well, luka is a big baby, whining all the time and of course people who are bug babies are also gonna get attracted to that type of character.
They act like there’s a year he should have won mvp lol
Yes, 2024
That year he was 5th in the west? Cool
2024
like you guys actually knows anything about mvps.
sigh
I’ll go get the burn salve.
I request the mods ban every mention of the word MVP until game 35 or something
“I think player X is the clear emveepee and it’s not even close”
moist valu personbeing
Ma Voiture Préférée
Game 60
Game 82 I hate this shit
It becomes a constant competition between fans where they constantly try to shit on fantastic players
I think it’s easily the worst part of basketball discourse. It’s hardly even a conversation jn the baseball and football subs
Yup, I got downvoted for saying that both Wemby and Luka were having insane starts to the season on the lakers sub.
That’s the fun. This is all entertainment.
this shi should be a Ty Jerome sweep
50 point 30 rebound game incoming
50 turnover 30 bricks game incoming
How tf you a Ty Jerome hater
Just trolling he’s cooking
hes got to prove it first i think. anyone can go on a hot streak.
Bro has been killing it
He’s kinda a regular season merchant, we’ll see if that holds true
Good thing MVP is a regular season award.
Well, yeah, but it kinda rings hollow if you fall apart during the postseason like he has and may continue to do
Duncan Robinson slander smdh
Is Maxey seen as the 76ers’ best player at the moment? Genuine question
Definitely the best scorer and his 4th Quarter numbers are insane. Maxey has 99 4th Quarter points averaging 11 points per game. No other player in the league is close to that. He’s been super clutch all year.
His stamina is unreal
Curry is averaging 11.9 in the third quarter! :D
Maxey on the floor is like watching a tiger running through a flock of zebras. He’s absolutely the best player on that team.
Do tigers hunt zebras? Do zebras come in flocks? What an interesting simile.
No, they live on different continents. And a group of zebras is called a herd, sometimes a dazzle, maybe a zeal, sometimes even a harem, but not flock.
Embiid is the guy who can take over a game like nothing, he is the best pure scorer in the league when he is healthy. Maxey is consistently the best player though
That was years ago.
It was what, 2 years ago he gave wemby 70 points?
Embiid isnt that guy anymore. Luka’s the best scorer in the league.
Embiid is not a better scorer than Luka. Never has been
Embiid has never been a better pure scorer than Jokic
Maxey is playing the best, Embiid is by far the most important/valuable to the team
I’ve tried to explain this sort of thing to so many people. Like Fred might be the most important player on the rockets because he fills a very specific role that they need.
I’m not disagreeing at all, but I am really starting to think VJ is up there in value. Does so much dirty work at clutch times on both ends, with a ton of strength and energy.
He’s huge for crashing the boards but something during that pistons game unlocked Embiids rebounding. He looked incredible at rebounding for once so hopefully that continues
That’s only due to having no depth at center. Bona is a terrorist
Our defense is something like 15 points better per 100 possessions with Joel on the court and our rebound rate is dramatically higher, while the rating with him off the floor is pretty much identical to what it was last year. This isn’t just Joel >>>>> Bona, it’s that Joel allows the team to do a lot of stuff defensively that they wouldn’t be able to get away with otherwise.
Bona definitely emphasizes it but I’m not entirely sold it’s just that. I believe if you replace any of the starters with a league average player at their position, losing Embiid would hurt the most. His in the paint determent has been great this year, his two man with LeBron 9 games in is fantastic and he’s the best at slowing the game down when the fast pace game isn’t clicking. He unlocks something out of each of the starters and the bench that isn’t there without him, except for maybe Jaylen Brown they need more time to brew together in my opinion. I think overall though he adds the most nuance to the offense and defense. That’s not to discredit everyone else, the starting line up is an embarrassment of riches
As a Celtics fan, Maxey gives me nightmares. That man literally wills the ball into the net every single time he drives. Fortunately for me, even despite being a sixer, he’s a very likable player.
I’m a Kentucky fan, so I’m happy for him but damn does he torch us sometimes.
Maxey gotta be the least hated superstar in the league, just exudes good dude vibes
28.0 ppg on 48.6% FG pct….”wills the ball into the net every single time he drives”??
The man is elite, but let’s pump our brakes on the hyperbole
? I think most would agree nearly 30 ppg on near 50% from the field is more than a little impressive.
I said “elite”!! He is
As a Sixer fan, yes. It is his team.
EZ
Yeah and like by far and away too.
Always has been.
Even when he was playing 15.3 mpg and averaging 8 ppg in 2020-21?
Don’t play stupid now
I was kidding.
Maxey is and has been my favorite guy on the team for years. The hustle, the heart, he’s great. He absolutely deserves more attention and respect around the league as that dude.
However, this Sixers team is wild. There have been games where JB looks like our best guy, quarters where Embiid takes over, heck, even VJ has made some killer clutch 3s coupled with great defense, and Bron is still Bronning. So I don’t know if he’s the best player on the team when the season is said and done, which is more about how great this team is right now.
Easily
Embiid is the highest peak, Maxey brings consistent and almost never ending high quality play. Dude has unlimited energy.
Yes.
Yes 100% no doubt
At the moment yes. I don’t think his level will be sustainable, so by the end of the season there will be a more even split in scoring between him, Joel and Brown
Yes easily.
Right now, absolutely, and the guys on the roster seem to be rallying behind him as the engine as well.
I said ts in the game thread for the Cavs v sixers game and got downvoted 🤣
Pound for pound JB is probably their best player, but Maxey is more consistent and easy to run the offense through
Yes but that doesn’t make him a top-10 player imo.
I think that team just has 4 dudes between 10 and 25.
clearly, but it’s complicated
Without a doubt. People don’t realize what a 4th quarter killer he is
Maxey is indeed the 76ers best player……… Bron …Embiid and Brown all said he is the engine
lmao you know this shit cooked when giannis is at 8. bro isn’t even top 20 in mvp right now. Heat suck ass
Nothing gets me bricked up more than MVP discourse 10% of the way through the season
if you are not picking a guy to be your ride or die mvp for the season with 70+ games left are you even living life to the fullest
FUCK it’s already 10% over!?! :( :( :(
STOP THE COUNT
Well deserved on Lukas part. Give him the “Week 1 Kia MVP Ladder” trophy he deserves.
My boy Ant looked right up there the few games he played 😢
Have to keep telling myself Ant punting on awards this year is for the greater good. Championship trumps all other awards.
Edit:spelling
To be fair, from what I’ve read he did his absolute best to manage this knee. This isn’t Ant “eating pizza everyday”, going off his YT vlogs, he’s totally locked in on prep and the NBA and the best option was to try manage his knee before surgery’s needed
ya this was his mvp season honestly
I wanted to see Ant and Melo vs Dame and Ja so bad
I think he took the surgery because the Wolves saw something with this roster and want to go all in. He’ll be back and better than ever.
He’s gonna have to settle for FMVP
Top Fye
It’s hard for me to feel his impact on the offense and see him with a below average TS%
The play-making truly is different for him compared to the past
He is second only to Luka in terms of points generated via assists.
Second to luka
Throating it
I mean it’s only because his 3 isn’t falling rn
The free throw rate leap is a good sign. The efficiency will come
I mean people have been saying for like 5 years now that Tatum’s three will come back one day. I remember when he was an elite three point shooter too but the guy is only able to put together one or two months of good shooting at a time before it goes back to looking ugly as shit.
His numbers show he is still an elite shooter besdies pull up 3s off the dribble… Sadly that’s like half his 3s
Top fye what?

Deni made the list! Nice to see a Blazer being talked about who isn’t Dame Lillard.
I think Curry should be #3 personally, or at least above Shai
Counting stats are pretty much the same but Curry has no business being as good as he is and the Warriors are looking like a tough playoff team after struggling to start the season
I know people here go feral when someone dares to even bring up advanced stats but so far Luka, Wemby and Curry are a clear statistical top 3.
But SGA is actually #3 in advanced stats so far this season, not Curry. He’s 3rd in EPM behind Luka and Wemby
He’s actually not. EPM isn’t out yet for the 26⁄27 season. You’re looking at the “expected” tab, not the actual numbers.
better defensive stats and we’re talking about how the warriors look like a tough playoff team while the Thunder still look very capable after losing two all nba guys, and an all defensive guy, all due to Shai.
regardless ty jerome should be #1
Warriors are missing 3 starters too
Those starters are nowhere near as impactful as JDub, Chet, and Cason.
Yes because the entire thunder roster is better than the Warriors, the Warriors are being led by Steph and a rookie
Jimmy definitely is. Either way I think it’s still worth mentioning we have over 50% of our cap in street clothes.
Wait a minute, you’re the Bleach powerscaling guy. Had no idea you were a Lakers fan lmao
Jimmy butler is definitely up there lol
Also Yaxel hard carried a couple of games for them.
SGA at #3 on poor efficiency going like 2-2 since his teammates got injured is diabolical
I remember when Luka averaged 37 ppg on 50/40/80 shooting last March and dropped to 4th
Still obsessing with Shai even with your guy at n. 1
how bad can it get
Team record matters, otherwise you can pad stats at the team’s expense like what Giannis is doing
The Warriors are 6-3, the Thunder are 6-2…..
The Warriors have the highest winning streak in the league alongside the Spurs
Yea the Warriors have a worse record by one loss but Curry is also at an age where no one would blame him for being absolutely washed and he’s still playing as great as Shai is
Yeah I worded that badly, if Shai can keep the Thunder afloat he will be rewarded for it.
I think Curry should be above Maxey though, Maxey is on a literal allstar team.
Are we sure the warriors roster is better than the thunders?
8-1 vs. 6-3 has got to count for something. Calling old Bron and washed Embiid an all-star team is also fascinating.
Tf?? No, Maxey is #1 GOAT of all time! And I’m not just saying this because he’s been carrying my fantasy leagues 😭 😤
How can Curry pad stats when he’s playing 29 minutes per game. He’s just straight buckets.
We’re 6-3
Curery is my favorite player but he’s NOT having an MVP season. I’m surprised he’s this high.
No one looks like a tough anything this early. I’m seeing a team in GS that will struggle to get into the playoffs, not be a danger.
Ty Jerome at 11 is disgusting !
It’s a disgrace.
Prime nephew talking !
Bro should be at least top 3 and not 3 !
There’s only two players better than him, and he’s both of them.
Factos.
No one is questioning why there is an MVP rankings 10 games into the season?
Giannis has no business being that high. He’s a big reason why Miami is underperforming.
Jokic will be top 3 by Thanksgiving. Book it.
Ty Jerome at 11 over guys like Cade and Brunson is nuts. Love that he’s doing so well
And honestly feels like he should be at least top 8, he carried the team
Curry at 7 is crazy. He’s been the 3rd best player this year.
An MVP ladder on November 6 is just ridiculous.
Curry’s still got it
I know my boy will drop soon but it is so fun to see haters hating Sengun 😊
Damn, 3 guys from ex-Yugoslavia in the top 12
ty jerome my kosovar brother
His real name is Taulant Xheromaj.
