The infamous “is it time to be concerned about Steph” post was like 3 years ago

Edit: even funnier, I think it was 5 years ago actually. The year he won the scoring title and then the championship came the following year

Not even just the first 3. Check every game thread at half time and everyone’s calling him washed and he scores 30 in the second half lmao

Same shit with LeBron. They want to “call it” so they can be smug about it. So dumb.

They were calling him old and washed like 5 years ago when he had a slow start to the season, which is even more crazy. Then he went on to win another chip.

It’s been a yearly thing since 5 ish years ago.

I’m just glad Kahn is a saint and that they balked on the trades that were going to send that pick to Phoenix in ‘09 and possibly Steph to Milwaukee for Bogut in ‘13 instead of Monta.

That was a real internal debate that happened.

The point OP is trying to make is that in previous times, someone at his age should already be noticeably declining

For anyone interested - google Millennials longevity. Some really interesting scientific and social findings, and it’s not bogus at all that we (Millennials) are the first gen with distinctive slowed down aging factor both in prolonged youth and longer life.

It’s just unfortunate that he runs a lot. The problem is he always has that game where he’s playing against players like a Lu Dort or Dillon Brooks where they just bang the shit out of his knee or dive on his ankle. If it weren’t for those types of plays Steph would have been healthy af the last few years where he’s played limited games thru the season.

Slow down there, Turbo.

It’s way too soon to tell! The sample size is only 18 entire years

Woah there, easy tiger!

I was thinking he was an okay basketball player but you may be right that he’s a good one.

Time will tell

I think this lesson is being shown across the league right now to some degree. Heck, the Blazers are experiencing it to some degree: Ja, Dame, and Deni have all carried teams before and while their scoring is down this year, all three are looking more rounded and even have surprisingly good defense for who each of them is. It’s very clear that relying on a single player can give them some INCREDIBLE stats but, especially with age related slow down, being able to take the pressure off them to compete just produces better results in many, many areas of their game even if their stats aren’t as exciting. And they just…look more comfortable?

he shouldn’t be at 38, though, it’s unreal

Tbf he does this even when he does have to carry. That ²⁰⁄₂₁ team wasn’t that great, Curry had a phenomenal season

On 68% TS too lol, ridiculous

My top 6, in no particular order:

Jordan (played next to Indiana).

LeBron (from a state next to Indiana).

Larry Bird (from Indiana).

Oscar Robertson (from Indiana).

Reggie Miller (played in Indiana).

Steph Curry (born in a state next to Indiana, then modeled much of his game after Reggie).

Ignore my flair and my parentheticals. I promise I’m not biased.

Top 5? I’d get ostracized for my placement of Curry

who are you leaving out to make room for him?

Steph really has mastered basketball. He’s so good at every aspect of the game that his age and declining athleticism just don’t matter much yet. He’s easily got another 5 years of basketball in him if he wants to play that long. I’d take 20 minutes a game of a 43 year old Steph all day every day.

Agreed. Also, had there been another player under 6’7” who had maintained this kind of play at 38 or older? It’s up there with what lebron id doing at 42 imo

About right

MJ Lebron Kareem Magic Steph

I disrespect everyone else’s opinion , Steph Curry the Goat !

I never like ranking the generational players against each other. Curry is definitely one of those guys and we are lucky to watch him for so long.

I can’t rank players I haven’t seen. I was born early 90s so even Jordan is tough for me to say by using my own metric. It’s LBJ, Curry and a sizeable gap to whoever’s next. Again, using my view as having seen their entire careers.

honestly i dont think that’s even a hot take anymore lol. his longevity, shooting, off-ball movement and impact on winning are just ridiculous. he’s changed how the entire league plays, top 5 is absolutely fair imo

Who’s your top 5 then? MJ, Bron, Kareem, Bill Russell, Magic, I don’t quite see Steph replacing any of them

Zoomer top 5

Top 5 player of all time. Not sure I’d go that far.

Top 5 offensive player of all time. Yes.

I don’t think you can put him top 5 but I’d say he’s the best pure shooter of all time.

Lmaoooo what a joke. Not even top 10 buddy

Top 3 cmon now

Unc still up there with Luka, Wemby and Shai

Yea we gotta stop doin that in 1Q.. that’s not going to be sustainable.

They really just needed someone to keep the scoreboard ticking when things aren’t going right, and Yaxel is perfect for that. Takes a ton of pressure off Steph needing to score 40 to keep games close. Excellent pick by them

Steph’s scoring is so underrated, I’d easily have him as a top 3 scorer of all time due to his efficiency.

I think the difference between Steph’s career and Chris Paul’s career shows the limitations of “traditional” PG skills compared with just being an insane shooter and offensive engine. Would extend that to Nash and would tend to think that Steph and Nash should go 1-2 in an all-time PG draft if your life depends on winning the game. Obviously someone like Magic or Big O has a more important legacy than Nash. That isn’t the same thing as actually being the best player.

Is magic johnson

We gotta evaluate and create a word for players like past their prime but still absolutely elite. Steph isn’t washed at all. We’re so lucky to be witnessing him

Other players have to change their game as they get older.

38 year old Steph plays almost exactly like 30 y/o Steph. It’s legitimately crazy.

Steph is 100% an anime protagonist.

Small underdog who isn’t expected to be great. Plays with joy. Has a legitimate superpower that nobody can replicate. Power of friendship. Turns enemies into allies. Defeats the king of basketball. Becomes one off he greatest of all time.

He also created millions of clones in the 3pt revolution

Yeah and his brother, Klay Uchiha is running around with different crews trying to pave his own way, but you know Curry Uzumaki would welcome him back with open arms any second

Fairs

Definitely a more complete player now, even if the scoring isn’t as ridiculous

yea the fo is really shitting the bed for like 5 years now, im surprised curry didnt go full ultimatum mode

They could have done that easily. Both KD and LeBron refused to join Steph in the last 2 years

Would get vetoed immediately
