The Heat offense has been pretty good prior to tonight, averaging 118 PPG or so. The Heat defense on the other hand has been absolutely dismal.

110 points every game, >115 points in ⁸⁄₉, >125 in ⁴⁄₉ games

I expected them to have offensive struggles but I did not expect this defense

Someone who has been lowkey very bad is Wiggins. He’s been highly negative on both offense & defense and has been easily the worst player on their starting unit.

Klay and THJ are supposed to be our only bad defenders, Davion is a very good PoA defender, Pelle is a good scrappy defender and Wiggins was good last season.

I mean Mitchell is averaging ¹⁶⁄₈, shooting over 40% from three and has been the most consistent defender Miami has had. He’s obviously not as good as Giannis, but especially relative to their role I think he’s been the best overall player for Miami so far.

Giannis is putting up Giannis numbers but his defense has been very disappointing.

He is the only player in their starting five consistently playing very good on both sides of the ball and he’s been a very efficient scorer and low turnover player.

I’m not saying he’s better than Giannis, but I don’t think what I said is crazy.

TBH, Giannis is a good defender now because of his reputation alone. He has been a mediocre defender for 3 years who is capable of great defense in the one or two moments per game when he decided to play defense. i remember that last Indiana series where the Pacers just took turns going at him but no one seemed to care because he was once a great defender

Giannis has not been elite on defense since 2023. This year he’s actually been bad so far. Bam isn’t what he once was defensively either, or at least he hasn’t been this season. Wiggins looks washed on both ends of the court. Davion’s a really good defender. He provides good energy and ball pressure but he’s short and can only guard point guards. He also has his weakness. His main thing is just mostly ball pressure.
