Nori stepped in and mostly took over head coaching duties for a few games. I believe this was in 2024 or around then because I think the wolves still had KAT on the team. They had a decent run that year with nori being a stand in type coach in some of the playoff games. They beat the Kevin Durant suns and the defending champion nuggets before losing to the Luka/Kyrie mavericks in the conference finals

Yeah I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Dame’s defense has been solid this year for his standards. I was expecting him to be a major liability and that just hasn’t been true. A big part of that is it’s hard to target Dame with Toumani, Clingan, or even Sidy on the floor.

Deni in DC was a lockdown defender. He was average to below average last year on D because of the workload but this year he is back to being a high level defender. Even Dame has been better than expected. This is a well rounded team

I was just thinking about the unknowns of this new-look team. Say we start seeing more injuries or start needing a lot of crunch-time comeback help–we won’t be able to rely on the same level of Lillard heroics like before. But it’s nice to see that the rest of the core group seems to be a lot stronger now than the last couple seasons.

It is absolutely not a net positive for the team. He is one of the few bench guys that has any modicum of size, and even though he’s been shooting awfully he has been very good at playing within himself and his role on offense while contributing real energy to the defensive side

His 3 isn’t falling, but his driving, passing, and defense have all been good for a deep rotation guy. Part of the reason the Blazers have been playing well is how quick the rotations have been. No one is playing tired or choosing where to show up between offense and defense.

We’re down 3 ball handlers now with Ja, Sharpe, and Vit out. Still have plenty of capable guys, just it’ll add up for the minutes of the starters and closers.

Ja getting hurt is also a net positive. A damn shame we didn’t seriously go after Jaylen Brown.

It’s going to matter eventually. He’s building a house with all those bricks he’s shooting, and against better teams it can easily be the difference between a W and an L.

Watching him closely his defense has been atrocious, despite effort. He tried a full court press for no reason, got blown by before the half court line, and forced Clingan to pick up a foul to cover his man. Dame still gets caught pretty hard on screens too.
