It’s still going to be inflated by rosters that are healthier than others, especially with a small sample size. If a team’s best defender or rebounder is out, these things start to change.

I guess that’s my only point.

Eta: For instance, Duncan Robinson rates highly in this stat on a per 100 basis, and he’s playing well, but he’s not better than Cade, who rates worse than him per 100.

This is mostly a measurement of which teams are winning the most early in the season.

That’s a bit my point.

I’m looking forward to it tbh. I like this Warriors team a lot.

Appreciate it homie.

Net points per 100:

Luka - 12.2 Steph - 10.7 Jerome - 8.6

Especially for the money. I’ve got Palmer in my cellar for a reason.

The real hot take is Margaux > Paulliac.

Not to be pedantic, but I fear for the rest of the league that 22 year old wemby isnt even in his prime yet….

With how optimized professional sports has become, injuries ruin basically every major sport. It really is a shame.

Ants also been relatively injury free during his career. It’s really a bummer to see him go out. Still, he’s a baller and gonna come back just as good as before

Dude missed 1 playoff run and now he’s street clothes?

thanks bro

I might be looking at this wrong but damn he’s in pace to a historic score if he keeps this up no, Jokic and SGA were at like 40 by similar amount of games in their own best seasons

Luka was 4th 24-25 with 207 behind Haliburton with 233, Jokic and SGA were 460 and 416. He was obviously doing well but in that season it was about those two.

You have your years wrong. Karl Malone won in 97 and 99, Jordan retired the first time in 94 and 95.

Karl Malone won because of voter fatigue. MJ had already won his 4th title and was on his way to his 5th when Malone won MVP.

It had nothing to do with him playing baseball, Jordan literally won the MVP the year before Malone did.

Even a final three of Luka, Wemby and Steph would just be so sick to see him amongst two greats of the next generation at 38

Too many talented players in their primes for Curry to have even a popsicle’s chance in hell

If we finish top 4 and he’s top 4 stats wise, I mean it’s gotta be a serious question right?

Like at his age, with that roster…

I know I’m dreaming but a third curry mvp would be beautiful

Malone got his MVP because the voters got bored and turned their brains off. It got rectified in the finals and the next season. And then in the finals again.

I know it’s a meme now, but I remember Jordan being legit pissed off Karl Malone won that MVP.

no lol

I mean, if they somehow made the playoffs at a better seed than a play-in seed, it’s at least worth some consideration since he’d be the only reason they’re there.

And a tech for clapping for good measure

Defense is not half the game.

Luka is single-handedly increasing his own teams scoring far more than he’s increasing his other teams scoring by being a bad defender, even if he is playing decent now. You have to be a truly abysmal defender to just give up points at a higher rate than a good offensive player already creates points. Someone like gobert is less valuable than Luka bc his offense sucks which stifles his own team and his defense doesn’t create enough points and defense hardly stops offense so you can’t really consistently flip the calculus and make Luka not score efficiently enough. The dude hits step back 3s at an insane rate. There’s a literal floor on how inefficient you can make Luka or Steph.

And another issue is how easy it is to find a decent defender vs how hard it is to find a decent playmaker. There’s very few offensive engines like Luka or SGA or jokic. There’s usually like 3 every season. They get the ball nearly every possession and raise their teams efficiency at a very high rate. How many people can play defense at a good enough level to be positive? Advanced stats show Luka is positive and he’s not that good lmao.

Defense is not half the game nor is it a fact. An elite offensive player is going to affect the game and its outcome much more than an elite defensive player.

This has always been the case for basketball.

What my girl says

When the narrative is in your favor everyone notices your great moments and minimizes your low points. When the narrative is against you everyone notices your low points and ignores the positives.

He just has been inefficient scoring the ball even though he’s putting up points. And has even dropped off a little as a playmaker.

Such as?

29 ppg on 22 shots and not much playmaking? I mean, yeah, Lukas’s been good not great on D and that what Wemby’s been on offense. Same ballpark for sure.

Yes, I know, it’s a related tangent I thought of when seeing this and isn’t even really accurate if you check the numbers.

best we can do is Luka at 5th and a bag of chips

Just like all stats you have to interpret it well. Context and blah blah blah.

A lot of Jokic’s on off was boosted by having a dogshit backup but that doesn’t mean he didn’t deserve credit for being insanely good.

I’m not much of a Luka fan but he’s undeniably a top player. Wish he bitched less but as things stand he’s 1 or 2 for mvp right now.
