For the second game in a row, Luka’s opponent comes to the mic and calls him an all time player. Maybe the players have picked up on the disconnect between how the media discusses Luka and what Luka does on the court.

Luka scored 40 points tonight for the 5th time in 6 games. He now has more points in the first 8 games of an NBA season than any player since Wilt Chamberlain in 1962.

The funny part is if Luka were to win MVP he would still be underrated.

Lmao1903

Lol I like how even the NBA players got tired of all the disrespect and now they are like “we gotta say something about this what the hell”. The narrative around this guy over the years wasn’t just “he is not the MVP” or “he is not the best player”, those are not undisputable takes with guys like Wemby going crazy, unreal player on both ends or Jokic putting up big numbers on crazy efficiencies for 6+ years now.

But it was literally like “actually this guy can never win a title and he is actually worse than Jaylen Brown”. We’ll get back to that once his 3 falls off and he regresses to 34/7/8 or something

yalecrazy

To add, they were even saying Cade was better than him. No disrespect to Cade, but him and Luka aren’t the same level

Media likes to focus on his negatives more than his positives.

Last year was crazy how many media guys tried to paint a narrative to prevent him getting all nba first team.

First-Huckleberry872

Thats my point. Regressing to 34 is bad somehow, like we have to lost the plot at this point.

And they say he’s so bad on defense when he’s very clearly improved his defense this year.

The talk to start this season regarding Luka has been crazy & has felt hella manufactured. It came out of nowhere & none of it feels natural. Not until “fans” started to buy into it & eat it up & repeat it everywhere.

Lmao1903

17 | 5 hours ago

I mean we are watching one of the best offensive peaks the game has ever seen, so I feel like if you love basketball, you gotta appreciate stuff like this, similarly Wemby as well. The manufactured thing, I mean I don’t think Luka is going around asking these players and coaches to glaze him, I don’t see how that could be manufactured.

Of course the Lakers media side is going to support their player like how any team would do, post some stats and clips, but outside of that I don’t see it.

I gotta say Luka had the best playoff run I’ve seen outside of LeBron or dirk and dude got killed in the media bc the Celtics won. Tatum played like total ass the entire playoffs and Luka got killed bc he couldn’t carry Derrick jones, gafford and pj Washington to a title

curlymane_e

While being hurt for nearly the entire playoff run:

I could not remotely understand the narrative that was being spewed at that time.

If he keeps this pace, its Luka vs Wemby this year for MVP.

Wemby went off tonight HOLY SHIT

I mean how often does he smoke? Daily? Or just on the weekends when he drinks or what not?

I know ppl that way. Been bummin drunk weekend ciggies for 20-30 years.

There’s a huge difference between how those affect you.

Apimeister

This guy is a troll/idiot. Luka doesn’t smoke. If he took a few puffs from that pipe 5 years ago, that doesn’t make him a smoker.

Like, wtf! Where did this narrative even come from—that Luka isn’t that great or some shit like that? Are y’all crazy or what? The dude has been the best player since his debut and is one of the greatest of all time. What even is this narrative, lmao? The dude single-handedly carried a shitty Dallas team to the playoffs, and his stats in the playoffs are fucking mind-blowing. He’s literally the only player MJ gave respect to at the 75th Anniversary (If this counts something for someone) lol.

ESPN couldn’t handle another white dude winning MVP, they had it for 3 years with the Joker.

Just watch how Perk, Steven A. Smith, Monica Mcnutt, and Chiney Ogwumike them clowns keep dissing Luka. They’re relentless and won’t change tune till the bitter end.

Even many people on this sub don’t seem willing to accept, that Luka could just be hitting his prime at 27 years old.

Theres lots of talk about “unsustainable” but I think Luka has went up another level. Luka’s the same age as Jordan when he won his 1st chip in 1991.

I have heard so many national media people say Luka is now the front runner for MVP. It’s literally the most common take on MVP on the main national NBA podcasts. And 8 games in…I’m not going to argue that’s wrong…he’s been amazing so far. WT actual F are you talking about with media disconnect?! This Luka Laker fan martyr complex….🤷….you’re gonna make Celtic Tatum disrespect paranoia look pretty level headed if you keep it up.

surik4t

we are not gonna act like luka hasnt been disrespected for like 3+ years now, especially the last 2

TopPolicy8454

It’s a quote from an NBA player, not sure what you’re getting all worked up over. Take a chill pill kid

DueKoala746

-2 | 4 hours ago

Everyone acting like Luka’s recent performances proves he was better than SGA and Jokic in the past two seasons and retrospectively saying he was disrespected. Being top 3 is disrespected. Can’t argue with these people.

Lakers and fans are really pushing the Luka MVP narrative.

Zach LaVine: “Luka’s one of the most talented players of all time. I don’t think people actually give him enough credit for how good he really is. He’s one of the best scorers of all time.”
