I think it’d be very surprising for 30-year-old Wemby to look like his peak. To be fair, longevity is increasing, so I think he’d be able to sustain prime level for longer. But it would not shock me one bit if his peak was at 25 or 26.

i can’t recall a case where it ever went like this from a player who already had their huge leap and established themselves. when they are super young it seems like they will keep rising to the moon but even the superstars tend to level off and make gradual progress. it simply defies the laws of physics they’ll keep making huge leaps.

lebron and kobe may be examples people would give of guys who kept getting better but it was incremental. they’d didn’t go from 25ppg to 40-50ppg they went to 28 or 30.

I think it’s reasonable to say he’s already peaked. He’ll just continue playing at this level for several years. He’s in his athletic prime, his reaction time and athleticism to challenge every shot multiple times every possession will go down slowly with age, and thats the best part of his game.

thats why i prefer seeing a roster where a couple have 20+ points games than seeing 1 guy get a 40+.It means he was needed so much which might mean minutes up which mean higher chance of injury AND that the team is too reliant in someone doing the scoring (which can be easier to gameplan against come playoffs)
