Sixers having good defenders unlocked a whole new dimension of bron, hes so much better when he can just patch up holes instead of having to be the entire backbone
Every single starter is bought in. They are all either playing the best defense they have played in years, or the best defense they have ever played.
I mean, he’s done a pretty good job as a backbone
Thing is, even if his shot has been a bit off to start the season, this is the better I’ve seen him in years. Not needing to do everything in offense made him 2016’s Draymond without the nut shots.
This could have been him on the Lakers if he didn’t take up a max slot. Like, I love Bron but him taking up a shit salary on the 76ers allow them to have this starting 5 that they could not have if he was still on his old salary.
The thing about the old salary in his last year is it didn’t matter. Lakers were over the cap. Iirc he could’ve taken a 30 million dollar pay cut and it wouldn’t have made a difference in cap space to sign other players.
Besides, the lakers were only paying 2 max players (bron and Luka). Sixers have dealt with worse contracts and still managed to put decent talent on the roster.
The only reason why it felt so much worse was because you had like 3 straight awful MLE’s that bounced out of the league immediately after their contract, and 2 completely wasted first round picks (one of which you had to pay to let go of).
Hard to want to take a paycut when theres a certain and vocal portion of the fanbase that will never accept you because he’s a threat to their idol
I mean he’s never going to be Magic on Lakers but he was great in his own way.
They meant Kobe, which is true and even sillier
Asking one of the goats to take a paycut for you guys when your fanbase would rather devalue your own championship just to discredit what he did for your team is something only entitled Lakers fans could ever have the nerve to do.
Top comment.
He earned every dollar he made from the Lakers. What’s the Lakers are never gonna put the right pieces around him, so why would he take a pay cut?
No yall suck at loading talent. It was there 2020⁄21 then squandered. He even waited to sign to see what yall did numerous times and ya did nothing.
What you say aint true cause how bout how. If he tool min on this lakers it would be the same as last year.
He waited on the Lakers to do something, he stayed for a Luka year then it was him again in the playoffs doing everything so he joined a team instead of waiting for one to be built around him
So they can put Luka, Reaves, and Kessler around him? It can’t hold a candle to Philly’s squad. That FO has failed for years
I think he would have been willing to do it if the FO made it seem like he was still a main guy. But the messaging from their end was prioritize Luka and even AR first (understandably), and we’ll keep Bron on a minimum if he agrees. So I think part of him was offended and wanted to move on. Just guessing on my part.
There was no messaging about a minimum from the Lakers
Exactly the sort of role he’s been looking to play for the last five years. Finally he’s on a team that makes it possible
Yeah, cant believe how fuckin happy he looks
I’m still in shock that LEBRON JAMES is actually on the sixers.
Fans hype af right now?
Yeah similarly still can’t believe LUKA is on lakers In his prime. At this young age.
Fuck nico
Don’t be fooled that he can’t turn up when the playoff come around
That was the issue when he was on the Lakers. The last few years the team was so trash he had to turn it up so early in the season it affected him later. Now he can just coast
It affected him and he was still our best player in the playoffs at 41. Such a waste of LeBron’s competitive years since 22’
I wish we had current Reaves in 23’ and literally any PG other than D’Lo
Can’t turn up when your best player is AD who is a permanent sideline VIP, and then your second best player is Reaves. Forcing you to turn up right after all star at 40 years old. Team trades AD for Luka just for him to play half a season, and you have to turn shit up after all star at 41 years old.
He has a good team now that he can take days off and rest without the team losing all their games.
THIS
Its also the first time hes taking a low pay to accomodate that role
I agree his is happy but can’t be scoring 10 points a game when he was on max money before at the lakers
How much did he average last year?
… he was 2 assists away from a triple double…
My bad I completely miswrote what I was meant to say lol.I was replying to “it’s the role he’s been looking to play for the last 5 years”. This type of role was always possible if he didn’t take max money. If he had 13 points a night in LA on max money he would have been crucified. I’m a big LeBron stan who wished he joined the Cavs again btw.
he wasn’t putting up 10 points and he was the only one of the big 3 alive in the playoffs lol, he’s like the 4th option most nights right now
That’s a reductive mentality.
Nah bro thats just the way it is. Lebron on a stacked team.
Between Maxey, Brown, Embiid, and VJ there are a lot of shots to compete for. Lebron averaging 15 or so on this team is going to make them very hard to beat.
Do we need to be reminded of his age? A game like this is still well above average and smart for long term
Edit whoops meant to respond to other guy not you
Lebron’s on a stack team because he’s on a vet min
LeSuperteam.
Exactly, LeSuperteam
Stacked team just how he always wanted.
all it took was three other all-stars🌲
I remember laughing about the “I’M 36!“meme about this man and he’s still doing this shit at 42
The fuckery will continue
I think this guy finally got enlightened spiritually in terms of basketball
total consciousness… he’s got that going for him
bruh looks transcended ngli mean he’s finally got dudes besides him, he plays like Faker
Pretty cool LeBron finally found a squad where he doesnt have to be #1 or even #2 scorer. His play making and especially his defense this year… just a pleasure to watch. Hope people that love basketball appreciate this while we have it. Ik I do.
Edit: and to be clear I’m talking abt a game where my team lost
Yeah, people took the years before where he was a lacklustre defender as him not being able to defend.
When really he was just getting old and had to give max effort for a full season of offensive coordination.
He’s 42. Just take that into consideration before you say anything. Most NBA players don’t have 13 10 and 8 nights at any age.
Lebron at retirement putting up better numbers than prime Draymond is funny af
LeBron with sciatica, arthritic knees and ankles is still better than most of the league lol. If you dropped him on a bad team and let him do the old Kobe twilight years chucking he’d still get his 25+
Bron right now vs. Pistons Blake is a legitimate question
Draymonds impact is not well measured by box scores
I don’t like Dray and I don’t even think its possible to like him unless you are a Warriors fan, but his impact was unreal for the Warriors, current Lebron’s impact can’t match what he had for his Warriors teams.
if you took most of LeBron’s offensive stat points and dumped them into defense instead, you get Draymond.
Prime Draymond had 32/15/8 on 95% TS in Game 7 of the Finals
LeBron can for sure still do that for a game.
Best believe if it’s a game 7 in the finals LeBron is dropping triple that
That statline was literally from the game that LeBron said made him the GOAT, where he was outplayed by Draymond.
Triple that?
He could have had a triple double but VJ sold
My glorious king isn’t even trying yet . That’s the scary part 😫
prime rondo numbers
is 5th prime lebron just prime draymond?
LeDray
His “dropoff” has been SO graceful.
Nobody is like “dang, he no longer has it.”
Scoring less than half his career average and yet it just feels… right.
Everybody can tell he still has it, he just picks his spots now and doesn’t have to hard carry for the first time maybe ever
I don’t think anyone else in NBA history has the versatility (or the willingness) to perform such a role so seamlessly, even if means tanking their scoring average.
He’ll turn it on during the playoffs- but playing with this team he can LeCoast, facilitate the offense, and focus on defense.
You can tell hes really just havin fun at this point. I never cared to watch him on the Lakers because quite frankly i dont give a shit about the Lakers.
But seeing what the Sixers were doing last year it will be fun to watch some East super team bring some fun competition to the East side.
It sucks- we watched him waste 5 years on LA wasting away while he was still elite. He gave Pelinka and LA every chance to build a roster, and they couldn’t do it. Still won’t do it.
I’m happy he gets to go out on a high note. Think the have a really great chance at a ring this year, and if they win it this year- I think he goes for #6 and a last dance
I mean it really really feels like this whole JBrown and Lebron to the sixers trade feels like it was part of a script. Either he manifested it or the NBA owners.
I get it… The story sounds amazing. A final destination and Ring for Lebron. If thats what the fans want and that’s what the fans will get. But theyll make sure whatever championship 🏆 money this will bring will outdo what the knicks did last year by 5x folds. If this is Lebrons last dance then the NBA Will make billions off it.
And it starts now. All these injuries on other teams are suspicious. OKC.. Pistons.. Wolves hmmm
Its like it gives the Sixers a Boost and gets the fans on board from now. Even the announcers are slurpin the LeBron this and he did that woww weee
Looked deceiving in box score, but he actually did a lot in the first half, controlled the game and got them a big lead that served them well in the 4th.
LeOneForAll
LeDraymondGreen but better
LeBrongevity
LeMambo#5
The fuckery goes on. Lebron’s final evolution is Drayrondo combo.
Privately I’d love to know how relieved LeBron is, this is the kind of role he’s wanted at his age. Which makes sense because he’s 40!!! lol. He’s finally found it and is playing great.
Unc still got it
Perfect role for LeBron he must be so happy
Having watched his entire career borderline obsessively, its weird to see him so clearly not the best player on the court at times.
Up until this season that was rare.
did he do tricks on it
Lebit
This new guy’s pretty good
joined a stacked team.
Lebron stans when he only gets 13 points
“Lebron does a bit of everything tonight”
13 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists, 1 steal and a block counts as a bit of everything buddy, quit hating for no reason
good, good, let the hate flow through you
I think being the forth option dropping damn near a triple double every time they play a game is extremely good, especially with a minimum contract and a team that doesn’t need him dropping 30 every match to win by 5
He’s playing for 8 mil/year. He’s probably got the best value/dollar contract in the NBA.
Probably?
Wemby’s up there for now too. Any top player still on a rookie contract is at least in the discussion.
Is it my turn to make the prime draymond joke or is that horse beaten to a pulp already
