Is Money Ruining Youth Sports? | The Stepback with Blake Griffin
Is this series supposed to be like Last Week Tonight with John Oliver but for issues adjacent to Blake? Not complaining either way
Yeah, this is episode 3. I like it. It’s better than a lot of other sports shows.

Pablo Torres is 60 minutes, Blake Griffin is Tosh.0
And Tosh.0 is more respectable media than CBS. I can’t believe I’m saying that.
Ya they are basically doing the same format of digging into a specific sport related issue. In comparison to John Oliver, it’s much softer on its target, it has some pretty aggressive ads in the middle of it, he has a shorter leash from his corporate over lords
This convinced me to start watching
All I need is the first three words to answer yes
I’ve liked everything I’ve watched of The Stepback but he’s gotta ditch the gambling sponsorship considering one of his direct competitors in this space in Joon Lee (in terms of video essay type stuff rather than comedy) who specifically doesn’t take them
It does seem a bit ironic/hypocritical to take on issues facing sports and then be directly sponsored by a big issue facing sports.
Yeah hard agree. But when you can bet on elections, “all bets are off”.
Why can Nike sponsor high schools, but if I gamble on T-ball games with other parents I’m somehow a degenerate?
The show is getting better for sure
Damn that was good. This man is talented.
Betteridge’s law of headlines doesn’t count for show titles, right?
Does he propose a solution? It’s much more complex than money. Everything is optimized and from an early age. Parents with know how, connections and yes $\(money\)$ will do everything they can do help secure success for their children in sport and in every area of life. Not sure you can control for the competitive of life.
