LeBron says he intentionally didn’t go all the way to the rim because he didn’t want Jalen Swanson to injure him while attempting a chase-down block: “If I go up and try to dunk this ball and this kid f*cks me up. I’m out two to four weeks”

Players do this all the time. NFL QB’s make that decision when running on when to sacrifice their body (end of game, playoffs on the line) vs going down and preserving themselves
Yes, and all the chase down blocks Lebron had the other players were doing the same because it’s like tackle football.

My mind automatically goes back to the Solomon Hill play, if LeBron just lets the ball go he probably doesn’t get hurt but he basically got punished for making a play on the ball. It is sometimes good to just not be as aggressive, especially in the regular season.
Regular season is about shooting 3s and staying in front of your man. Add aggressive defense and drives to the basket in the playoffs.
I don’t think any championship team would support this approach. They use the regular season to build and reinforce those habits.
Playing hard for 82 games and the postseason is possible for one or two seasons but nobody can do it over and over again. OKC have collapsed this season after playing hard for multiple seasons. Denver looks cooked. Celtics had massive injuries too. The Warriors collapsed in 2019. Every championship team has declined pretty soon after winning the chip this decade. Real season starts after the trade deadline if you are serious about your team’s health as a championship contender. LeBron knows that which is why he reached 8 straight finals in his prime. His teams were rarely had the best record in the East but they always reached the finals.
2000-01 Lakers had a huge drop off during the regular season compared to the previous championship year, and basically went through the season on cruise control before turning it WAY up for playoffs and absolutely dominating going 15-1 and winning another chip.
You guys realize the actual answer is inbetween right? The regular season is clearly not as intense as the playoffs. Teams use it to work on teamwork and technique and everything else. Both things can be true.
I get this, I really do. But I still can’t help missing the 90s NBA bc they fucking went at it, regardless of anything. They were ruthless and fucking dogged, and it made the games something else to watch.
Jordan is going for the “fuck you” dunk every single time, no matter what. Shit was just different. I’m sure Jordan and those guys are paying the price now, and he obv didn’t have the same longevity…but he was undeniably better, and the competition was just so fierce.
Ball really was life, and it’s just not the same.
They took entire plays off all the time, what in the world are you talking about
Solomon Hill walked so Cole Anthony could run.
*solomon hill walked, so his opponents couldn’t
Obligatory Fuck solomon hill. Me and all my homies hate solomon hill!! 😭
Solo is one of those guys that has to play for you for you to like him lol. He was huge as a locker room presence for the Hawks
Fuck Solomon hill 🫡
Can you like, not remind me or any Lakers fan about that? Grade III ankle injury, if I remember, our season got GUTTED, and Bron lost his MVP. This is 2020-21 season btw, right? And then we brought Brody.
I will always (sports) hate Hill because of that. It didn’t just mess up that season; he has NEVER been the same since then (per his own admission).
LeBron was 4th in the mvp race the day before the injury
Dude fucked up our guaranteed back to back ring.
I’m still fuming about this shit
LeBron changed after that injury i stg
I still cannot believe Hill robbed us of some of his physical prowess
I wonder if this also applies to that Cam newton play in the superbowl.
I think a lot goes out the window when a championship is on the line
It’s what made Hali and Durant take the risk of playing on a strained calf
Feel Cam’s situation is more like a receiver risking catching a hospital ball, but not as guaranteed to be fucked up as hospital balls are.
all people remember from that game is cam not diving the ball. no one remembers that year cam kind of got into it with the refs about his celebration. so that year refs basically started allowing head hunting on cam and not throwing a flag or just yellow if it was really bad. the shit they did to him would basically get you suspended weeks for doing to a guy now. should he have dove on the ball sure, did the refs basically cakewalk broncos to a victory? also yes.
Then there was Von Miller
the game is energy and recovery management
People call that fragile but guy is 41 lol
Literal children on this app calling someone their father’s age fragile lol
Of all the criticisms you could lob against Lebron, fragile is among the most ridiculous.
The dude is basically one of the all-time ironmen in NBA history.
The guy has been playing professional basketball longer than average professional basketball rookies have been alive. Average age of an NBA rookie is 20, he’s in his 24th season.
Lebron James is tough.
Probably more like all sports.
I mean, there’s “fragile” where they can fall and die if they trip on a curb, and there’s “fragile” where they can no longer bounce back right back up off the floor after a mid-air collision with a 200-pound athlete hitting them from behind at top speed. LeBron is the second kind of fragile. I would simply never get into that situation to begin with because I could never get a step ahead of an NBA player in the first place or jump high enough to try to dunk it.
Dawg, maybe only like 2-3 dudes in the league would be able to bounce back after something like that, and that may be overselling it. Perhaps 0% of the league would walk away from that unscathed. Bron is largely just as durable as everyone else, he’s just wiser and more experienced.
There’s probably an argument to be made that LeBron is the most durable player of all time given his longevity and continued production and the fact that he’s never had a documented surgery.
Playing smarter, not harder has gotta be a factor at this point in his career
I’m in my early 30’s and earlier this year I played pickup, dove for a loose ball and I remember back and hips weren’t feeling right for almost 2 months. This guy is still getting hacked by titans
As durable as everyone else? Maybe now that he’s 10 years older than everyone else. I feel like historically he’s more durable than just about any player ever, especially when you take age into account
Instead of a dog balancing dishes on its nose during halftime, line up the dads of these internet warriors and see if they can dunk on any of the players.
Fragile, and yet he’s built like a tank, lol.
You just made me realize the crazy age disparity caused by Bron’s career. Like half of the subreddit look at him like a father due to age, and then the other half is like an older brother due to age lol
There’s no disputing the fact that he has physical longevity, but his ego is as fragile as they come.
I’m slightly older than him, if that matters.
Fragile ego is all I see from this dude anymore
Truly mind boggling take, but it’s well within your rights to be laughably wrong.
“I didn’t try as hard as I could because another guy was going to try harder than me and I knew it.” What else is there being said here?
Worry about joking stinking up the joint
Joking is just jokic. You friggen idiot
Wouldn’t not being able to admit this make him have more of a fragile ego? This is literally the opposite by definition
guy is almost 42 and by the end of this year will have played nearly 10k more minutes than any other person in NBA history. That’s the opposite of fragility.
That will almost be more than x3 all star Brandon Roy’s entire career (11,561). As well as former teammate Lonzo Ball (9,692).
He’s had an entire second career on top of the longest career by minutes already. How long will this fuckery continue?
Surely not past 2035.
“Bet”-LeBron
Every day I wake up and am glad to know that there is less fuckery ahead than there is behind at this point
Are you sure? Because it looks like the heat death of the universe will come first.
Is that counting playoff minutes?
Yeah he’s over 7k clear of Kareem on combined minutes and almost 4k ahead on the regular season
And he got here by making smart decisions. Such as not letting nephews fuck him up lol.
I’m 39 and hobble around all day if I sleep wrong, it sneaks up on you fast
I’m 40 and threw a baseball for the first time in years and hurt my shoulder lol. I was like eww better not do that again.
Dude i dropped a shampoo bottle in the shower and made a sharp grabbing movement to try and catch it and tore my biceps muscle.
I’m an ex college athlete who stays in decent shape.
This makes me feel so much better about my pains as a 32 year old ex athlete
nothing is more humbling than trying to swat a fly and tearing ligaments in your shoulder
Just wait till you get to 50. I hurt my elbow sitting in front of the computer for too long.
41, hurt my back while sneezing when I was getting out of the shower
I’m 35 and got into a little Nissan to ride out of the body shop to get a rental. My knees buckled and I felt my acl about tear. Fml man ._.
Background: have torn both acls in both knees before
im 39, tried to get on to a dock without the ladder, tweaked my hip real bad
37, tweaked my knee tossing someone 15 yards away a golf ball. 1 month ago, still feel it.
For real. Stretching is key, but that 8 hours of the body not moving much while you’re asleep, things kind of settle into a position and it’s like warming up a car on a cold morning. It’s stiff when you first get out of bed. Especially if you have any kind of arthritis.
There are so many things that happen to the body as we get older that I don’t remember hearing older folks talk about, but I imagine they did and I just didn’t pay attention then. I sure as fuck am taking notes now so I’m prepared for the next few decades.
Brother I’m pretty sure you’re joking but you need to be doing some kind of stretching and exercise. Outside of cases where it’s old injuries acting up you shouldn’t be waking up in pain often at 39
Mild exaggeration, yeah, but point stands that body isnt what it was at 20 either - I’m an ex college athlete and in decent shape, but just cant shrug off tweaks or stiffness the same way
43, used the wrong pillow and now I cant feel the right side of my torso

it’s funny to call this man fragile when no doubt he has the most mileage in the league history and I’m making that claim without even searching the internet
Yeah, its not even close, and I’m still slightly caught off guard how big the gap is, we’re closing in on a 10k gap between Bron and Kareem.
I’m his age. If I get out of bed wrong I’m out 2-4 weeks.
So many guys are doing this to lebron, you see them go all out on the block or steal. Crazy how you have to still to put a big athlete on him, at his age.
They also go all out because they grew up watching him, and want a highlight against him. Which I can’t blame them. I would want the same
Almost 25% of the league was born after his debut lmao. Imagine posterizing the guy you had posters of in your crib.
He’s playing against some former teammates sons. Imagine posterizing someone who held you as a baby
That’s crazy just to read
Kenny Smith did a round table show and they asked old guys when they knew it was time to retire.
And Kenny Smith said at the beginning of his career he’d get a steal, take a look back, and everyone would be pulled up and walking. They knew they couldn’t get him.
His last year he’d get a steal, look back, and everyone would be head down pumping hard and he was like “oh they think they can catch me now.”
And then when they could he said that’s it.
It’s also a mostly meaningless regular season game. Like, maybe it will matter in the standings. But most likely, this one basket isn’t that important. The 76ers would much rather have a healthy LeBron than have him take an unnecessary risk for a single basket.
99.9% of LeBron haters can’t jump high enough to touch net and 95% would tear multiple muscles trying.
Isn’t that true of 99.9% of LeBron lovers too and the general population?
Btw I’m not critical of LeBron for this. In an important playoff game, I can see why you’d say he should go for it. But in a regular season game at the beginning of a season, why?
AND ARE THEREFORE BANISHED FROM DISCUSSING SPORTS!
?
Tbh yeah if the last time you jumped was pre covid, keep your negativity to yourself
Take a breath dude. Sports are an entertainment product. It’s actually ok to have fun and discuss.
Banished from discussing sports? Nah?
Made fun of for hating on one of the greatest athletes of all time while being pathetically un- athletic? Absolutely.
Cool bro you let us know the reddit fitness test to pass before we get a license to comment.
Honestly I’m just impressed that he can process that within seconds, that’s kinda intuition you can only have by playing the game for years if not decades.
I mean it’s way more simple. Just he sees the guy hustling on the chase knowing he’s going to get a challenge.
I don’t think it’s crazy processing to understand if you go up you might get hit hard. NFL QB’s make that decision all the time on when to sacrifice their body (end of game, playoffs on the line) vs going down and preserving themselves
I don’t think you’ve heard LeBron breakdown plays and schemes for all 9 players on the court post game
Brady the last few years is a good parallel. instead of any kind of resisting a tackle he’d just fall straight down for them.
As someone LeBron’s age that still sports and has similar injuries, I am hyper vigilant of who is where on the court/field at all times for my body’s sake. It also makes a difference that I’m a woman playing with young reckless men, but there are just a lot of idiots you don’t challenge if you want to walk the next day.
I think every college and pro basketball player knows some of the hardest fouls happen on fast breaks. The opponent usually can’t catch up to you so often the incentive is to foul them hard enough that they don’t score the basket and honestly in many cases to shake them up a bit.
I dont think processing this is that rare some players just have a reckless abandon
I mean maybe this is a hot take but I really don’t think LeBron knew what would’ve happened. If he’s just saying that he’s going to generally be risk averse and avoid plays with potentially a lot of contact then sure don’t risk it here and on a bunch of other regular season plays as well, but he couldn’t have known exactly what Swanson would’ve done here
Are you a dejected Heat fan who moved to Canada? I’m so confused between your flair and username lol
Obviously he started watching the raptors when we traded Precious and never came back.
Bro I’m 34, I sometimes take a second glance if I’m jumping off the back of my truck is a good idea. If it’s cold out, I will just climb down.
This mofo just lies so much
Seems like experience to me
I’m 42 and got injured just throwing the ball with my dog.
I get injuries if I fall weirdly in the mosh pit lmao, I’m in my late twenties
Yeah no kidding I actually really respect this from LeBron and just being matter of fact, and I don’t like the dude. And I guarantee his coach and teammates agree with that business decision.
Hurt my knee walking down the stairs today. In fairness, I was carrying a couple water bottles.
I’m 39 and my sciatica flares up when I sit on the couch too long
Nah, that’s a very believable and valid thought process, imo. As he said, if he goes up hard he just becomes that much more vulnerable in the air with an overzealous player bearing down on him just trying to make an impact to stay up on an NBA roster.
I wish more players had this kind of self preservation. I still think of how J Dub shouldn’t have gone up for that dunk with two guys on him.
Almost 42.
Exactly. I don’t blame him. Once you’re over 40, everything is risk analyzed including getting out of bed.
Wild to me that his knees still hasn’t given up.
Discretion is the greater part of valor.
He’s had multiple missed games this past year where it’s just listed as sciatica or arthritis lmao. Literally just DNP - Old as shit
I’m like then why didn’t you go for a reverse layup? Then I realize he’s less LeAthletic at that age.
Nah not fragile just a lie
Think I’ll defer to the guy with enough years in the NBA that his career can legally drink
The guy who has been caught lying hella times. Can’t just admit it was a good block
Literally what would be the point of lying 💀
He lies all the time for no reason. The dude who had Nike delete a video of him getting dunked on
He made up this whole story about getting blocked and yall eat it up lmao
If he’s a porcelain doll out there, why is he still playing?
Nah this is my mindset when I’m playing rec ball, shit ain’t worth it most the time, mfers reckless 😂
There’s always that one guy who has no control of his body and will injure people.
Not just in basketball. Sunday league soccer is deadly af when you have hyper competitive 23 year olds that haven’t played since high school flying around with no regard for human life. Or shins.
A natural Draymond motion
yeah, that’s why i don’t take off to dunk on fast breaks if a defender’s trailing…
yeah I saw you play man you built different
The best kid that plays at my gym (actually plays at a D2 or D3 school) has a crazy high motor. He’s way better than all of us and still plays hard to crush us even harder. One day this 6’5”+ great athlete was playing with us, also a college level player, and he gets a clear breakaway to dunk. He goes up and that other crazy fucker tries a chase down on him, I think he does block it?, but they both end up in a heap on the floor. Luckily neither were injured, but it’s so not worth it to play like that.
100% at 40 years old (personally can atest to that)
i was gonna say lebron is talking out of his ass but he honestly isn’t wrong lmao.

Me too LeBron, me too
more players need to be careful. id rather watch them all season being careful with their bodies then watch them have a season ending injury
I’ve always thought the dives to the ground for a loose ball seem reckless compared the gain. Attempt to gain one possession while potentially being out few weeks from a hard fall
Intentional diving/falling is way less risk for injury than getting contact while in air already.
Yeah I think someone intentionally diving is actually more of a risk for anyone whose legs are around the diver.
It’s worse for whoever got bumped into the dive. Bron claimed that his injury from Solomon Hill dive really messed him up.
I’ve always thought the dives to the ground for a loose ball seem reckless compared the gain
Reminds me of a great story about Manu Ginobili from Zach Lowe’s piece on him
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/17262551/manu-ginobili-built-legacy-love-team-storied-career
Ginobili carried no sense of entitlement; he outworked everyone in practice, especially during scrimmages, when he played as if it were Game 7 of the NBA Finals. Toward the end of an early September 2007 pickup game involving Spurs and visiting free agents, Ginobili dove through three players to retrieve a loose ball and flung it to a teammate. That player scored, and Popovich, watching, stopped the scrimmage even though it wasn’t over.
He gathered everyone and asked them: “What does that play mean to you?” Popovich told them Ginobili wanted to win more than anyone on the floor, and that if the Spurs wished to repeat after their 2007 title, they would all need to play that hard. Popovich walked away, and everyone thought the speech was over. Suddenly, he turned: “And Manu: It’s f—ing September. Never do that again in September.”
Never seen that end in an injury, it’s usually the uncontrolled jumping that gets you. Dives are pretty gentle on the body since they’re controlled
its never really the person diving that gets injured its who they dive into to get the ball its one of the more dangerous acts and similar actions have been banned in other sports due to the injuries and dangers it can cause.
Joel Embiid reinjured his meniscus right before the playoffs doing this when Jonathan Kuminga landed on his knee
You’re just taught that if you train harder, if you like basketball more, if you take it more seriously, if you’re better than the other guy…
You should have no problem diving on that floor.
I lost a lot of battles with that floor. Also caught some people on the other team with what is essentially an elbow thrown at full power. The battle for position while launching horizontally will get you fucked up.
Link? It makes sense in baseball- running through first is faster than diving into first. But in basketball players are trying to get possession of the ball to be able to call a TO etc, so getting there first doesn’t equate to having ultimate possession
Link to what? Being coached to dive after loose balls?
You’ll just have to trust the anecdotal evidence of every single person ever who’s played organized basketball.
Did you not play organized basketball? My coaches made us run if we opted to not dive for a loose ball
It essentially ended LeBron’s MVP era when Solomon Hill dove into his legs in a regular season game. He never looked the same and even referenced feeling that injury multiple times over the years.
this reminds me of OKC Westbrook that really hurt their chance for a deep playoff run
My whole body tightens every time Embiid does that
There’s also tape showing diving for the ball is worse than running and picking it up. It’s faster to keep running upright than to dive.
Nah you gotta go for loose balls. They add up and make a difference throughout the game
This what happened to Ja. Just kept getting taken out of the air so he stopped dunking altogether.
Wanna know one reason Jokic is always healthy? He doesn’t take contact on defense. He’ll try and swipe down at the ball as the offensive player goes up, but if he doesn’t get the swipe, he gives up a free layup. People say that’s bad defense, I say it’s a smart decision to preserve your body instead of putting it in harms way for a 1% chance at a block in a meaningless regular season game.
Jokic’s such a smart player that being a bad rim protector is actually a smart play
This is also what happened to JDub, Kris Dunn going for the chase down block
100%, there is a generic/natural/luck/whatever component to some of these athletes who play well past the norm, but they also put in a ton of focus and work on keeping their bodies in shape. Younger guys take their athleticism and health for granted, and sacrifice longevity or injury. More players should do the LeBron, Derrick Henry, Tom Brady, Jack Nicklaus thing than flame out sooner than needed.
Yeah specifically the head first dives, I always think the other player is going to land directly on the player that’s diving’s shoulder, and knock it out of its socket
i’m very glad young lebron was not “careful” doing all of those crazy dunks.
Lebron sells a lot but it keeps him out on the floor. Risking it all for a highlight isnt worth it. Its really upsetting to see a guy miss time because he was going for a highlight
Cough cough Ja Morant
Which is the reason he stops dunking so recklessly as he did in the past.
Lebron sells a lot
Bron has one of the worst whistles due to how strong he is compared to people his height.
He’s been selling in the regular season for almost a decade now, maybe even longer. He can because he’s that good.
Bron has an entire rosters worth of highlights already, it’s good that he’s prioritising his safety
that’s what it takes to be playing at that age with that many miles lol
LeBron clearly watched Dunn break JDubs leg last week
Probably watched that Rams kicker go for a tackle and be done for the season
Tbh lebron and deebo have been smart dunkers their whole career. When I saw jdubbs dunk, I felt sad for jdubb too but I will admit, it was preventable and a reckless dunk by jdubb… and I say this as a lebron HATER
So you went from a Lebron thread, to a Jdub and Kris Dunn comment talking about Deebo to saying its a reckless Jdub dunk… where does LeBron come into this picture to clarify “as a LeBron hater”?

Proving my point!
I’m the same age as Lebron and he still plays in the NBA therefore we are not old. This is impenetrable logic, and that 19 year old is still a child.
He’s 27 years old! Wtf is this comment section 😂
Late teenage years pushing young adult. A child is the wrong word dawg
Learn sarcasm dawg. I dropped enough hints for you.

Why are people upvoting this lol Jalen Slawson is 27 years old
Probably because it’s a genuinely funny sentence.
variant of the “tatum is only 19” meme
Feels like a stretch
I choose to believe it’s true.
Read it and tell yourself “this guy is joking” and you’ll see why it’s upvoted. How do you think he’s seriously calling a 6’7” 27 year old NBA player a child. Idk how you people get by in the workplace
Huh? He’s saying he was 9 ten years ago. Plenty of 19 year old rookies in the league…Slawson just isn’t one. Maybe try to read it yourself before being a prick
9 year olds are slow as shit
Are you saying a 9 year old Swanson could’ve kept up with 31 yo LeBron?
I doubt it.
ITS SLAWSON. JALEN. SLAWSON
Starts with an “S”! Let’s see. Swim? Swammi? Slippy? Slappy? Swenson? Swanson? Samsonite! I was way off! I knew it started with an “S,” though.

Yeah but going back…bill lambeer would have demolished LeGoon regardless if it’s a dunk or not.
Chucks right these kids be soft
He still has getaway speed (not as much as 10 years ago but still enough for something like this.) He was conservative that whole play.

Wild how long I had to scroll to find this. I was confused when the pacers highlight Popped up
“Man I got work in the morning” type layup, I can finally relate to LeBron
Yeah I’m totally okay with this. Those exact plays cause some of the most gruesome injuries. Team is playing at such an absurdly high level with him out there. No use risking his health for game 6
This is like Tyler Lockett of the Seahawks going down before the defenders can tackle him
If someone gives LeBron a career ending injury they’re probably going to be in danger every time they’re in public
Ari Shafir made a joke about Kobe being a rapist and they ended up cancelling a bunch of his stand up gigs for a couple years after because fans would make bomb threats to the venue
He is also just not funny.
I think he was the one that started the “dead rapist” thing like a day or 2 after Kobe died. I think that’s why Kobe stans went crazy, if he just called him a rapist I don’t believe it would have gotten that reaction. calling in bomb threats no matter what he said is insane, especially YEARS later
He also was cleared of rape I thought.
It was a long time ago so maybe I’m misremembering. But wasn’t the girl a cheerleader who had been sleeping with lots of pros to either her pregnant or black mail then for cheating on their wives.
Don’t get me wrong it’s still a massive L for Kobe. But after it was all said and done I thought rape wasn’t the final verdict.
You are correct, you are misremembering. Kobe agreed to settle the civil case and the accuser refused to testify as a result, so the charges were dismissed.
Nah the girl got bribed and withdrew dude was not cleared lmao
cleared is a strong word
Abraham Washington made one joke about the Kobe in Colorado deal and he got the boot immediately.
that doesnt surprise me given the shit kobe stans say on this very sub every single day
Solomon Hills name is a constant in these types of threads for that very reason. Can’t imagine what people would say about a guy who injures LeBron when he’s 42
you thought kaepernick had it rough? you’ll see what black listed really means

Between this post and the one claiming that Slawson apologized for blocking him, this play has provided some crazy LePropaganda
He said that? That’s wild.
I can’t wait for him to go away.
He didn’t but this fan-fiction ass post got 4k upvotes saying that’s what happened https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/s/qMG4YDqU2G

Am I going crazy or has this guy not had 23 prior seasons where you can clearly see him dunking it in this situation almost every single time?
I feel embarrassed for him and I hate him.
Not because he got blocked, but to feel the need to tell this story to make an excuse for it exposes a shockingly fragile ego.
Everybody gets blocked or gets their ankles broken sometimes. It’s just basketball.
That’s just old man basketball. He was definitely driving harder in the playoffs last year than he did all regular season or postseason. Hopefully Embiid pays attention to this mindset.
Still sounds weak to say it out loud in reference to getting blocked, tho
I hope he imparts some of his wisdom on Embiid. No reason to go all out in regular season when the team is stacked enough that they can win on 80% effort. Leave some in the tank for the offseason.
How you calling a 42 year old billionaire competing against elite 0,0001% freak athletes in their prime “soft”? Go wipe the cheetoh dust from your mouth and think about what you just said smh
The audacity of these people will never not surprise me. They are calling the GOAT soft.
I do not think the goat is soft, ty very much
They are calling the GOAT soft.
Who said anything about MJ?
WTFDYJFSAMYLB?
I was able to read the first half without any context, then I got lost
That marine compyasta or whatever it was
I remember he had an awful game against PHX in November of last year and everyone here was saying he was washed/done/finished
I was at the game so didn’t watch broadcast but it was obvious he was just recovering from an extended injury break and was winded/getting back into shape. Also, LeBron in October/November and LeBron in April/May/June are two very different things
not wanting to get injured sounds weak
Yeah the last bit of this comment was not needed, dude is just explaining his thought process (which seems to be working considering his longevity), but I guess it’s weak tho. Crazy
I edited my comment and added detail below, but essentially the problem is saying it specifically in the context of getting blocked
The problems in your head. Clearly his mind and decisions have worked for him
And you sound stupid
No, saying anything other than “good block” sounds weak. If he talked about going up more cautiously in general it’d sound normal, it’s referencing it specifically to the block
He said it was a clean block in the actual vid tho, he wasn’t ducking the fact he got blocked.
Always the most insecure people calling others weak
I am secure and I love LeBron, I truly don’t know how this made people so pissed off 😂
He said it was a good block. Damn, 76er fans seem ready to turn on Lebron in an instant. 🥹 He’s explaining his thought process.
How is it in this day and age that people still don’t understand clips don’t capture context?
I ain’t turning on Bron lmao this got way bigger reactions than expected
Nah, hes not weak. Youre wat hing as a fan Dudes at work in that moment
weakness is pretending you can’t get hurt. It’s not knowing you could get hurt and decided, this particular situation isn’t important enough to get hurt on.
Live to fight another day. It’s really that simple
LeBron has got to have one of the highest BBIQ of all time.
word. he just like me
Haha
lol yeahh I’m gonna starting using this excuse
The glazing is insane. When I get blocked on a fast break at my next pickup game I’ll make sure to explain to everyone that it was actually a high BBIQ move
Lmao for real
It’s insane to glaze the best player of all time?
When it’s him making an objectively bad play and getting blocked on a fast break, yeah kinda insane. Plenty of great plays to glaze him for
As long as we agree to glaze LeBron.
Honestly valid I avoid contact at times during pickup
my work doesn’t care about my torn alc because jimmy needed to be checked
This sub is so exhausting with LeBron at this point. There could be a post about an objectively bad play and all the top comments will be something like “hey that’s great effort from a 41 year old”
Do you not have to work the next day? I do pick up games all the time but there’s no way I’m risking an injury just to make the highlight play no one’s ever going to see
Wrong, the glazing is not insane. IN FACT, the populace does not glaze the King 👑 enough!!
Lebron fans are insufferable lol. Giving him basketball IQ credit for getting his shit swatted?? Even if it was a smart decision which is pretty debatable… it’s not a basketball decision, you didn’t get the bucket bro
Smartest decision would be to hold back and set up on offence, at least go for a pump fake. Naw he’s genius for getting rejected though
Seriously, it is so annoying. Man is soft, pure, and simple. Remember when Kobe called him out for passing the ball instead of going one on one with him in the All-Star game?
Do you disagree that LeBron has a high BBIQ?
Shawn Kemp has a high BBQ
Kelvin Benjamin, too
Sure but I don’t get how it’s a relevant comment to this particular play
I think LeBron has more benefit of the doubt that he’s thinking about all these things as opposed to you is the point
Yeah, it’s quite obvious that you don’t get it.
But you’re not Lebron James, nor are you up for GOAT contention. So…
Nah see the difference is you’re ass at basketball and play at the rec level. When arguably the best basketball mind in history says it there’s credibility behind it.
Would be fun to assemble highest BBIQ starting five all time.
Oh man.
PG - Jason Kidd / Chris Paul
SG - MJ
SF - LeBron
PF - Tim Duncan / Larry Bird
C - Bill Russell / Nikola Jokic
Honorable mentions to Magic Johnson, Steve Nash, John Stockton, Draymond Green
this Rajon Rondo erasure
Yeah, he was on my list in my mind too, but I thought I already listed too many PGs.
Generally agree but Jokic > Russell by a Denver mile.
dirk is up there
Yeah Draymond despite losing his cool and doing insanely dumb things actually has the highest BBIQ besides that I have ever seen. He is first team if it wasn’t for dumb techs and suspensions coming from losing his cool.
Aside from all the dumb stuff, this guy is so smart!!
It’s gotta be Luka at 2
Ugh you don’t need high BBIQ to make that decision. It’s just your natural instinct to not get hurt.
Wish he was smarter in real life
bc he was scared to get hurt?
I mean, it’s common knowledge that LeBron has a high BBIQ, which you would know if you’ve watched him play at any point over the past 20+ years.
It’s just interesting to get into his mind and go thru the thought process that he had to do in about 2 seconds of game time.
If all you get out of that is that he was “scared to get hurt”, then I don’t know what to tell you.
i don’t think he has any higher IQ then other players. media just pushes that
Kids just want to say shit like that cause they think it’s clever or a zinger
He’s 41 but still a massively positive player. Having the awareness not to get injured and change his shot benefits his team in the long run
