At this point, age really seems like just a number for Steph. The off-ball movement and shooting are still unreal.

Type of shit that happens when Curry finally gets some sort of help (a 24 year old rookie)

Downtown_Drummer_827

51 | 13 hours ago

It’s more than that. Yaxel is great, and pods seems to have improved.

Bassey, niang, Williams, Ike were all not on the team last year, and they have all showed to be contributors.

GUI also has taken a jump before curry got back last year.

The warriors team is deep. The bench might be worse than OKC SA etc, but against a worse team like the suns damn near the entire roster is playable

geezeeduzit [OP] | GSW

I love what Williams brings to this team. Quickness, solid handle, ability to create. We needed that badly

Curry this season:

Yaxel ON: 48 points per 100 possessions on 67% TS

Yaxel OFF: 53 points per 100 possessions on 67% TS

AKushWarrior | GSW

2 | 10 hours ago

It’s more about the offensive burden and amount of ball handling steph has to do, yaxel can be the primary initiator pretty frequently and give steph some possessions off (not to mention make sure the non-steph minutes aren’t a complete disaster). big reason steph has only played 28mpg

Cougarxr767

Under 29 minutes a game and still second in the league in scoring is wild. Sounds like the deeper roster is a big part of it, he doesn’t have to carry every possession anymore.

AutomaticGuest143

3 | 10 hours ago

This. The supporting cast has improved from the last year. Podz and Gui have progressed their game, Melton, gp2 and horfors look healthy (so far) and the newbies can execute. Here’s to hoping they can sustain it

Cougarxr767

1 | 8 hours ago

Yeah the depth looks way better this year. If Horford and Melton stay healthy that bench can actually hold leads.

nereoteg

5 | 13 hours ago

Did he play 8 games already? I thought he sat out a game or 2

Relevant_Pause_49

7 | 13 hours ago

Honestly give him a good center and prime Jimmy Butler and he would win the league. But he cant get prime Jimmy Butler and I highly doubt,he can get a good center so…

Shooting never goes away no matter how old you are. I’ve seen guys in their 40’s and 50’s that can still hit it from anywhere on the court. They just have no stamina

435rouhnj234_209u

11 | 13 hours ago

Steph has more stamina than half the teenagers in the league at 38 though. Dude fucks with cardio.

guacamoleandtomato

27 | 13 hours ago

Totally wrong look at Klay. Injuries can derail shooting easily, specially if it’s leg injuries

StyMaar | GSW

26 | 12 hours ago

Totally wrong look at Klay.

Klay is close to the best possible example in favor of what GP said: Klay had his career low 3p% last year at 38.3% which is barely below his 21-22 championship season, and this year he’s shooting at 41.1% so far over 7 games with a higher 3pts volume than his career average (despite limited minutes).

His shooting clearly isn’t the problem, his problems are that he can’t run, can’t play more than 20 minutes, can’t defend and can’t score anything else than a 3. Klay is a shadow of his former self, but his shooting isn’t and it’s in fact the only thing that makes him playable at that point.

mmmmmyee | GSW

1 | 9 hours ago

Klay also always starts seasons pretty cold too. Takes him some games to ramp up his percentages

silvaman32 | GSW

16 | 13 hours ago

Hes still shooting around 40%. While hes obviously slowed down i think with klay losing his confidence really affected him more than anything

Ghazi_Bey | MIA

not_so_bueno | HOU

2 | 13 hours ago

Doesn’t that fall under stamina?

CurryMVPGOAT30

1 | 13 hours ago

He doesn’t shoot the same after his injuries. The jumper has been completely changed. I watched a clip of his 25pt game the other day and he doesn’t really look recognisable. I don’t know what is is, whether it’s a bit slower or he doesn’t go up the same but yeah.

Also they were like all spot up shots and not him turning around coming off screens but still yeah just was a bit jarring.

gerardguey | CHI

2 | 13 hours ago

Yeah theres a big difference between shooting in an open gym and being chased up and down the court before taking a heavily contested 3 lol, that part definitely gets harder with age

Stamina actually peaks mid 30s. Burst is what you’re thinking of. Why you see a lot of marathon runners transition to ultras later in their career. The years of building an aerobic base is good for you.

Curry’s never been a vertical athelete so i think his elite conditioning is whats allowing him to continue unlocking his shooting and range despite his age. If he played more around the basket i think there’s no way his production would keep up

Not a slight to my GOAT, but NBA scoring is also as easy as it’s ever been with the space and “well everything’s a foul if you think about it” reffing. Big scoring numbers are kinda meh. Just impressed he can still run around the same way and stretch defenses.

Yaxel scores easier in the nba than he did in NCAA.

geezeeduzit [OP] | GSW

10 | 13 hours ago

Fine, but still ranked 2nd in the league in scoring - so take the actual number out of the equation, just look at the ranking

TheDrFunk

3 | 10 hours ago

Steph rarely gets the benefit of “everything’s a foul” and Yaxel’s easier scoring is at least partially due to playing with Steph.

Relevant_Pause_49

6 | 13 hours ago

How about you just appreciate his greatness and not just come up with excuses? Why isn’t Klay shooting the same,Dame is shooting worse than Steph,Mitchell is averaging least than Steph. Players in their prime are averaging less than Steph,a 38 year old man. Steph hasnt had a game with less than 23 points yet

Through 8 games, 38yo Steph Curry is averaging 30ppg in 28.8 min
