Accidental contact in the context would still be a foul. Obviously no one is trying to hit him in the face but that doesnt mean you can just flail.

If luka didnt complain they would never call fouls on him. The refs are lazy asl and if you dont complain to them, they wont call fouls because it slows the game or whatever bias they are on that day.
I genuinely feel like that’s because he is pretty big for his position, and not just in height. What normally would throw skinnier guard like a ragdoll, with luka wouldn’t really be so visible. Growing up like that he probably found that if you don’t call refs attention you aren’t gonna get calls for the whole game. So you start catching refs attention on every foul instead. I had real friends who grew up too fast and were generally bigger and more massive than other kids. If they didn’t do that, they got abused by “physical defense” pretty often and despite playing under the rim and being physical get almost no calls. Then comes our skinny guard who does the same thing but weighs 20kg less - falls from the foul without even selling it - instant free throws. As a fan I also don’t get the hate for any player in the NBA “crying” for fouls. Blame the game not a player, if it’s the only way to make ref do his job properly you can be sure I’ll be crying like a bitch if I get fouled and you don’t call it.

Yes, this is my post from couple of games ago: At least for me, a fan of Luka, it’s just a gimmick of his, very fun to always look how he tries to talk to refs and he always does this. It’s funny because it looks to me for most of the times it’s useless, but he keeps trying and trying to get his. It’s not playing dirty, it’s not trying to always get ft, it’s not something annoying in basketball. I believe a lot of people here are annoyed because everyone else is saying that. (I understand fans who hate Lakers or hate Luka for maybe couple of performances he had against their team)
It feels like people just looking for something to get annoyed by. Like yes he has really bad moments sometimes but most of the time the thread will just devolve into people taking turns crying about how much they hate him when it has nothing to do with anything in the post or the game being played

I agree with you it’s too much a lot of the time. A LOT of the time, but at the same time you got to understand it a bit at least when you get hit in the face to the point of bleeding and refs don’t see shit. I’d complain in this case too. There are many cases where to complaining is justified, but then he seems to get riled up and just complains for the sake of it, and that’s what gives him a bad rep in that regard. At the same time he starts egregious foul baiting attempts, just to get refs to blow to whistle and it becomes too much.
I’m not trying to excuse the behaviour because even as a Luka fan I hate this about him, maybe he wouldn’t do it so much of the refs didn’t turn a blind eye in some very obvious cases.
