[Lowlight] Giannis Antetokounmpo kills Jake LaRavia
tbf it did get ruled as a blocking foul and even a goal tend
How the balls is that a goaltend…
They pulled out the predator drone skycam that somehow only gets deployed in Lakers games. It was a goaltend
The AC-130 kill streak cam 😭
they parked it right before Giannis went through the hoop to block a shot.
Lakers fans think the refs are against them ??
It’s just a joke about that AC-130 Cam we saw one time just for a Lakers game man.
It’s a Bron joke
It hits the backboard and then Kessler hits the ball, which is an automatic goaltend. Lakers fans having a Victim Complex is so pathetic
Reading comprehension is hard
You good, man? The Lakers fan agreed with you that it was a goaltend.
That’s really strange cause Kessler made zero contact with Giannis, and like, the ball wasn’t going down either…
Tf are you talking about the ball hit the glass, you can’t block the shot after it hits the board first
Because it hits the backboard first?
I’ve watched this over and over… are my eyes blocked by bias?
Frame by frame… Jake’s feet are SET before Giannis takes off, albeit his momentum is sliding to the right which is why they call the charge….
Why is everyone saying he’s being dangeorus and undercutting….?
Your eyes do indeed deceive you. Here’s a screengrab from the moment Giannis takes off and the frame before contact is made. His left foot moves significantly:

I don’t disagree with this. Poor explanation by me. Dudes set, he’s not “sliding over”. His feet are set, his momentum pulling him to the right and yes his left foot moves to catch up
But the concept that he’s dangerously late and sliding under someone is way off base no? This was a bang bang basketball play and an insanely GOOD effort to hustle over and take a charge.
Except that it’s a blocking foul- having one out of two feet set doesn’t count. If he has “momentum” so his left foot moves to “catch up” that doesn’t sound set in the slightest. Do I think he’s dangerously late? Not really, any time big dudes get up in the air is dangerous to some extent. He tried (and failed) to take a charge, which is admirable, but unfortunately he got himself run over for no benefit. Bang bang play I agree but clear as day on replay it’s a blocking foul and it was correctly called in the end.
Giannis one of the scariest players ever on his rim drives
You know exactly what he’s going to do and how hard it is to deal with physically
also you get the distinct feeling that he doesn’t give a shit how much damage he might do to anyone in his way
To be fair, that includes himself
That’s part of the tactic in getting people to not even think about getting in his way
Yeah, he kinda has the strat of “even if you draw the charge, it is going to hurt enough that you aren’t gonna want to take the next one”
He’s pretty reckless a lot of times too
You’re still crying about Gafford getting a knee to the nuts? He deserved it, also was a blocking foul
Or—and I know this might be hard to imagine—“a lot of times” extends further than a singular play that happened in the last 72 hours.
Giannis has a longer than average list of outright reckless plays in the NBA compared to nearly all superstars in NBA history.
I don’t even know why you would push back on that.
Watch your mouth hombre!
Literal fucking freight train man
There’s a reason people don’t take some charges good lord
Giannis could have accidentally put all of his force on his hand/elbow into Jake’s face here. He is somehow making sure he and Jake are safe here after that dumbass and dangerous play
Respect for getting in the way of a freight train at least
That’s 100% a block and a dangerous play by Laravia. Sliding in late on a guy leaping is always dangerous
100% a blocking foul but it’s not that egregious and a pretty common play. He made it to that side by the time Giannis was at the Laker logo
If he went two seconds later then yeah dirty, but this isn’t that bad
He was at the spot before giannis was even airborne how tf was it a dangerous play by laravia . It was a basketball play simple
He was already there, he started rotating the second Giannis got the ball and was in the spot before he got in the air. It was a great read
I’m so glad guys don’t do this in pickup ball games.
The block/charge should be abolished imo, way too dangerous and always a judgment call by refs that can be upheld by technicality
And it was an offensive foul lmao.
wasnt it overturned?
lol my bad yeah it was on Laravia.
It was not
Btw this was reviewed and changed to a blocking foul and goal tending
I used to play like giannis
I play like an 8 year old giannis
You bricked a lot of free throws?
6 steps w/o dribbling?
Evan turner is that you?
Takes 10sec to shoot your FT?
When you see him plays, does it remind you how you used to play?
hit him with the gunther splash
more like the Rey Mysterio flop
Yeah any non nba player would be fucking dead
I think Steven Adams’s sister can take it.
A sister you say…
Holy shit bro. He completely trucked him
Squish!
He won’t try that again lol
Made the 😬 face when saw it live but luckily he didn’t land too hard on Jake
That’s an and 1
yeah how is this a lowlight? Extra points for smishing Jake LaLabia
Actually Jake almost injured Giannis by undercutting him while he was in the air.
Giannis appeared to hurt his wrist
He looks fine tbh probably just shocked from almost killing a man
Jake was a half second late but did not undr cut him. He planted his feet while Giannis was on the ground. Both planet at the same time, Jake just wasn’t fully there with his body yet
His foot was still sliding over while giannis was in the air 😂 he was in no way planted
Yeah so it’s a blocking foul, but not a dirty play
His feet are clearly still sliding over while Giannis is mid air…
Which makes it a blocking foul yes but a slight foot movement does not make that a dangerous play
You can move your feet after establishing legal guarding position, they don’t have to be completely fixed to a place. However, he got to the spot a bit late so he didn’t establish legal guarding position in time.
Me when I don’t have smarts
this better not be NSFW
its not
Not even close, OP being dramatic
Regardless of how the play was ultimately judged, Jake has impressed with his apparent toughness since he joined the Lakers.
Yeah he was one of the 3 players last season in the entire league that managed to play all 82 regular season games
If this kinda play is giving you jdub flashbacks it’s gonna be a long ass season for ya boy this was a pretty standard play it just happened to involve one of the most physically imposing players in the league
yes, this is going to be a long season for every thunder fan lol. i agree with you but i am scarred from watching that live
Can’t believe he hit him with the flying crossbody
Straight nightmare lmao
Looks like Giannis supported himself with his arm there. Thankfully.
Woke LaRavia up tho he ballin now lol
He almost ended up like stan podolak in space jam
Giannis’ offensive playstyle is basically “try to actually defend me at the risk of your career earnings”. Not to say he has no skills, but it’s not hard to see why a player like Harden hates it
What’s his body count now? 3?
Ngl I freaking love seeing a charge in the NBA. It’s high level impact.
My hot take:Abolish help side charges
Your take: Abolish teams
More like steaming hot pile of shit take
Fr I like watching dudes get hurt
Ah yes, because that has been a constant problem…
They can just not charge in recklessly. Stay under control and you’re good.
Genuinely is though. There’s a reason they have the charge arc. Especially in the NBA Giannis is damn near taking off to dunk as someone is just sliding under him. It’s like rewarding someone for tripping
A hit + a body slam combo - damn
Grabbing your nuts and sliding under a leaping player is not only not playing defense, but it’s a dangerous play that endangers both players.
