[Scotto] The Utah Jazz have exercised the rookie scale team option on Ace Bailey worth $9.98 million for the 2027-28 season, league sources told HoopsHype.
Shocker 😂
Makes sense
His rebounding and defense improved a ton in the offseason. His middy looks better than ever. He’s averaging 14, and 8, and plays good defense. He’s 6 months older than AJ and Darryn. He’s around their age and he’s playing really good for a 20 year old. If he was in the 2026 draft (he’s and August birthday so he barely made it to be eligible to be in the 2025 draft) he’d be getting a lot of hype
I mean, this option would be picked up even if he was looking like he might be a bust. But I’m happy he’s killing it and proving a lot of his draft day haters wrong. I’ll forever be bummed the wiz fell to 5 that year because I love every single one of the top 4 and think Ace on this squad would have us looking a whole nother level of ready this season.
Ace was #5 – Wizards picked sixth.
Right. Yes, my bad. Forgot we were 2nd worst so we were able to fall to 6, jazz had the worst record and were able to fall to 5. I think it was decided on the last day of the season with a buzzer bucket by Bub Carrington lol.
And to clarify I like all of the top 5 picks ahead I was just one off. I like Tre a lot, but undeniably he’d have to grow a lot to really even get back to top 6 status in a redraft.
He’s been great this year. Jazz had a rough start thus far and I’m not sold on the fit of their main guys but he’s so young and talented.
Caught the Jazz on League Pass last week not expecting much and Bailey’s midrange was way smoother than I remembered from his college tape.
How’s he doing this year?
He’s been spectacular. Unreal defense and efficient on offense
Why are you guys 1-5?
Because we only have a few players playing well and the bench is really struggling. We’ve had some close games but looking like it’s going to be a tough season.
Nurkic injured so no starting center. Jaren injured at the start of game 3. Lauri missing 2 games. Tough competition. Jaxson Hayes and Mo Bamba having to be forced to stop Zach Edey (twice), Clingan, Kessler, and Wemby
Grizzlies twice (apparently they’re good), Spurs (finals team from last season), and Trailblazers (apparently they’re a good team), Lakers (Luka). 3 out of their 5 losses have been close losses
Mo Bamba guarding Edey lord forgive us
I’m glad to have Boozer, want JJJ to have success there, think Kessler is overvalued now that he’s on the Lakers, understand no competent FO would do what I’m about to say either without hindsight bias, etc but God damn a Bailey-Boozer-Kessler front court would be special and I feel kind of robbed as a NBA fan we don’t get to see Bailey grow with those two.
Really good. His defense has improved, and his rebounding too. His height and weight gain this offseason has been a major difference for his defense improvement. He worked out with DWade (Jazz minority owner) in the offseason, and the tips look like they worked because the way he’s getting his midrange shots is much better than last season
He good
His defense looks miles better. His handle is shaky but he could be a legit 3 and d player in the NBA. On the high end he could be a Jaden McDaniels type eventually with his size which is not something I would have predicted before the draft lol
The Jazz’s drafting has been suspect during their 5 years of tanking. Appears they only have 3 serviceable players of the how many players they’ve picked.
remember when he was crying about getting drafted to the jazz way back when?
