I NEED Grimes to get serious.

Illini_Guy16 | Slovenia

8 | 5 hours ago

yea, both mamu and sexton have had some good games where you see the vision. Grimes has only had that one against the clippers

messigoat1337 | Germany

9 | 5 hours ago

Was always overrated and i have no idea why so many Luka fans wanted him on the lakers. He was mid on the mavs too.

Fallingcity22 | NYK

11 | 5 hours ago

He was always offensive inconsistent on the Knicks but his defense was great all times, granted I haven’t watched him play since his Knicks tenure

messigoat1337 | Germany

5 | 5 hours ago

His defense seems also very inconsistent

Fallingcity22 | NYK

1 | 5 hours ago

Damn that sucks he was a dog for the Knicks, but my guess is that injury against the Heat impacted him a lot, I’ll always remember him on one leg getting the steal on Jimmy

3brcuse | LAL

0 | 5 hours ago

he’s being misused. he’s only playing Luka/AR/Grimes and the super small AR/Sexton/Grimes lineups. with the latter, he just stands around watching AR and Sexton turn the ball over when it should be his chance to get into rhythm offensively. he should be playing the 2 both ways. but we have to play the 40m guy

Fallingcity22 | NYK

2 | 5 hours ago

So he basically just doesn’t get the ball up at all now ? I still remember that grimes always has had issues with being aggressive on offense

JeanVicquemare | SEA

5 | 5 hours ago

The Mavs were so desperate for anyone that could do anything with the ball other than Luka.

dmavs11 | NBA

1 | 4 hours ago

he absolutely was not mid on the mavs thats some nonsense. The problem is that it feels like he disappoints every other year. He hasn’t put back to back convincing seasons together ever.

Dude gets an wide open three from a pass but always opts to pump fake and drive.

CrazyNice7240 | LAL

Grimes is one of the most frustrating role players I’ve ever watched no lie. He literally turns down wide open 3s to dribble into a packed paint

Automatic-Fox-3837

5 | 5 hours ago

15M/yr for four 4 yrs with a player option lol. I bet they offered the minimum to smart too. The management was on some goofy mood this offseason.

Novel-Wait328

2 | 3 hours ago

you think its an overpay?id say it very fair deal to both sides

i would give 15 to smart too,but only for 1-2 years max

Fifolifo24

1 | 5 hours ago

He was a bench spark plug on Mavs, Kidd hated half the time, slowly played better. He’s now a starter. He’s not to be blamed.

OmfgHaxx | NBA

5 | 5 hours ago

He’s not a starter, he hasn’t been starting

sefkononrvoinvrwe

I feel like there is a repeated pattern of good to decent role players that come to the lakers and then just completely fall on their faces lmao. The last guy was gabe Vincent from the heat.

Literally MVP on/off, team is complete ass without him, most valuable player to their team in the whole league right now

Warm_Requirement7277 | NYK

Lowkey his team being so ass is helping his mvp chances rn

gold-bandit

2 | 4 hours ago

The question is if he can get top 3 seed with his team being this garbage. He’ll prolly have to avg 40 ppg at this rate lol

Marcus-ichiJo | SEA

2 | 5 hours ago

Not really. If anything it’s hurting his when Wemby get the 1st seed with a 10+ wins differential over Luka

GotKarprar | DAL

sure buddy

I2abe

As a Mavs fan you should agree because that‘s what hurt every MVP case of his all the time like 23-24

That final 3 minute stretch was the funniest thing ive ever seen. Lakers sub was asking JJ to put em in and now JJs just showed us why he doesnt. Rob pelinka is a roster building terrorist.

It’s now or never for Luka to win MVP. Such on/off I’ve seen only with Joker.

Luka handpicked his bench to boost his on/off stats

Glum_Ad_8367 | LAL

Playing 4d chess to win the MVP, I see you Luka.

coturnixxx

2 | 5 hours ago

I dont see how Luka sustains this without inevitably getting injured just like last year.

WeCantBothBeMe | Australia

4 | 5 hours ago

Luka had a roster last year that won a playoff series without him and then every single starter from that series was let go and now he has no help when he sits.

ts405

1 | 5 hours ago

that roster was hopeless

WeCantBothBeMe | Australia

2 | 5 hours ago

This one can’t win the minutes Luka sits let alone a playoff series without him. I don’t think they needed to run it back but you don’t let everyone go either unless every position is upgraded. Instead the Lakers went into the season with 3 starters and their two highest paid acquisitions behind their big 3 are benched behind minimum signings. You also don’t max Austin that’s what’s truly hopeless for the Luka era.

ts405

2 | 4 hours ago

they’ve played 7 games together, also ziaire missed the last two. despite what it looks like, this bench now is considerably improved in comparison to previous season.

WeCantBothBeMe | Australia

1 | 4 hours ago

The early going has been concerning but as you say it’s still just 7 games. My concern with Zaire as well as Matisse and Jake is that they’re shooting well above their usual averages from 3 and I wonder how the depth will look when that averages out.

Novel-Wait328

1 | 3 hours ago

last year bench was also really bad, litterally lowest scoring bench in league iirc

CabbageStockExchange | LAL

-1 | 5 hours ago

Lmao no sorry that roster was going nowhere

WeCantBothBeMe | Australia

2 | 5 hours ago

Neither is this one lol it’s worse.

CabbageStockExchange | LAL

Last years roster I feel was won primarily on star power as a lot of games were LeBron, Reaves, or Luka going off. Playoffs you had LeBron be LeBron with some help with Smart and Kennard which was cool.

That being said the bench was not good and the team was exceptionally one dimensional. On paper this years roster is objectively more complete and fits Luka better. Obviously not perfect as Looney/Vando as your backup 5 is pathetic.

Season is still early of course but I don’t see last years roster minus LeBron being better than this years

Kid-shark

2 | 4 hours ago

how does it fit luka better if luka has to be god with the wilson averaging 38/8/8 on 65ts% for them to win games? I agree its a more well built roster from the perspective of what a team is meant to look like w/ no redundancies in skillsets but having marcus smart or lebron or even rui would be massive

ts405

1 | 4 hours ago

don’t forget rui in the pos and his insane fg% + actually pretty good defense.

this team now has a much higher ceiling though, but it will take some time to get comfortable playing together…

SunKing210 | SAS

Wemby has a net rating delta of +39 so far in 6 games. When he’s on he has an average of +20 and when he’s off the floor it’s -19.

The decline of Kornet is a large factor of this so when he’s subbed out the Spurs give up so many easy baskets. So unfortunately, us Spurs fans too have to see a star player’s impact be squandered due to having to be subbed out for rest

Edit: just looked up Luka’s net ratings and his delta is +56! When he’s on the floor his net rating is +17.8 and when he’s off it’s -38, that Lakers team is screwed whenever Luka’s is not playing

Ok_Jello_3630

Only one way to solve it. Put em on the same team.
