Stu was incredulous on the Lakers broadcast. Grimes brings it across half court then picks it up near the sideline and basically boxes himself in.

IDK how he hasn’t learned from Luka, who is one of the best players at dealing with traps. You split the double or you pass it to someone mid court. Yet Grimes looked surprised by it every time.

I didn’t watch what happened, but I was surprised by how much the Lakers paid for Grimes as a Sixers fan, and I wasn’t surprised when staff determined he would be an off the bench player. Dude is no better than a 6th man, and I was happy to get rid of him.

Regular Bench isn’t fine either though. The regular bench is bad enough that it forces Luka to get back on the floor earlier than his usual 2nd half of 2nd and 4th quarter rest schedule.

Easily

It’s wild. The third string needs someone who can organize the offense because even though we have two PGs in Bronny and Hardy, both of them can’t be trusted with the ball.

as a laker fan i’ve just come to accept we probably won’t have a deep bench with the way we constantly package our picks and role players for bigger names. even overall with the salary cap situation, seems impossible to have a deep bench if you don’t build your team from the ground up with young, cheap players.

Someone mentioned Ayton… Every year Front Office underestimate just how much worse they can fuck it up lol

Good to see his teammates supporting his MVP run by making him play longer to get more points and rebounds.

Can’t win mvp if our dear lakers are the 6th seed with poor luka averaging 40.

That’s not fair, he also can’t shoot, defend, create separation, dribble, or playmake

LeBron’s parting gift

Of course you also need a really stupid head coach.

Bro the 11th-13th player on a team is not making a difference like that.

Dad’s a billionaire with deep connections in the nba world, and likely owner of an expansion team.

Bronny’s gonna play a role in that ecosystem, looks like the FO are building relationships.

Kinda fucked up and against the spirit of sports, but the game of politics has always been shady.

Luka should not take his 2028-29 player option.

Luka is the no.1 supporter of AR. If he cant win with reaves than its on him

he needs to leave LA and go to Spurs xD

SGA number #2 can be permanently injured and still sit in the 4th quarter.

If Luka is in OKC, OKC already has a 3 peat.

But they’re not healthy?

uh

We are

There’s a bunch of nonsense cope going on that Flagg is the better player to have. Flagg is really good but nobody’s taking Flagg potentially being as good as Luka over Luka himself, especially since Luka is still only 27.

Uuuh

coop can hoop

You can’t fire the owner lol

Luka handpicked all their new players and elected to keep AR as his option 2.

I mean… they already won a game without him soooooo…

That was essentially a G League team

I thinks what’s more concerning is that Luka is gonna play a shit ton of minutes putting him at more risk for injuries than last season.

He is going to get injured playing these minutes.

No rest for the weary and then you’ll wonder why Luka looks tired or doesn’t try on some plays. I love Luka and hope for his sake he finds a better situation.

Austin has been weirdly passive the last few games. I’m guessing JJ told him to focus on facilitating more, because I feel like usually he’ll just go for the bucket more than he has been

AR is averaging 24 points on some crazy efficiency and picking up scoring when needed. We’re just still weak at the wing and have mediocre defense. We have an army of backup guards/forwards with no clear starters to go along with our main 3.

Luka carried a mediocre team to the Finals in the West. He actually can sustain this. He is that good. It is insane he has never gotten serious MVP consideration.

Lebron did this for 20 years. Luka will be fine

Did you not watch the Mavs in 2024? Luka hard carried the team all the way to the finals and he still didn’t get MVP lol

Ofc he can, he already did jfcc

Hey man, I know we used on-off to crown Jokic 3 MVPs and SGA too but the stat sucks now, we not using it anymore sorry. So Luka don’t get it.

spurs flairswoah, we can’t give up ground to luka FC, we got agendas to push

…what? You mean for 6 games? Then yes. He clearly was not the MVP last season

I agree nothing is close to detriment yet but he’s certainly been the best so far. He’s only had 1 inefficient game

If you seen how garbage the team is, then idk what to tell you. Its literally just luka playing well.

They always find something to bitch about when it comes to Luka. Media has kinda like collectibly decided that Wemby is their MVP. It’ll only happen for Luka if he ends 1st seed. He wasn’t even top 2 when he took the Mavs to the finals.

He generated 8 Raptors turnovers this game. This is not the game to trot out this particular trope.

He’s not though, I get why you think that because you have to actually watch the games to see his impact on that end of the floor

For what he brings offensively I’m honestly willing to trade off quality defense. It’s on the front office to sign a bunch of 3 and D guys

I mean who is on the modern era guards/forwards list of 1st option scorers with quality to great defense: Jordan, Kobe, Warriors KD, Miami LeBron, prime Kawhi, that’s it really

+27 in a game they won by 6. In the 13 minutes he sat, they lost by 21. Idk how you conclude that Luka is the problem from that

Are you watching the game? +27 in a 6 point win

They look like the Clippers when he’s off the floor

I would tell everyone who would listen when they complained about his sub-superstar on/off that he was staggering minutes with Jalen Brunson or Kyrie Irving most of his career lol. Now that he plays with nobodies at 1, miraculously he has amazing +/-.

Wait, why does Steph have the highest threshold out of the three when he has the worst supporting cast?

Shai’s supporting cast is probably worse than Luka’s until Chet comes back. Why does he need 60?

📢 Los Angeles Lukers fans! Friday is Luka Doncic night. Come see Luka and his Los Angeles Lukers take on the Miami non Luka’s. Free soft tacos for every point above 50 Luka scores! 📢

Is that on JJ? The way I see it, he’s letting the team play without Luka at times to train them to be able to hold or advance a lead. They need to be able to do that to some extent. Maybe I’m wrong, I’m not watching the Lakers that much, but it’s definitely clear that the Lakers are very bad when Luka isn’t on the court.

I mean Rob got rid of the five starters who won a playoff series against all odds versus Houston: Rui, LeBron, Smart, Kennard, even Ayton. Both Smart and Rui have admitted that they’d been willing to stay in LA.

Then Rob offered a max contract to Reaves who shit the bed vs OKC. Utterly mindboggling.

he left cause they treated him like shit

Reaves looked like he had mono tonight

Idk who “Nodoby” is but he for sure isn’t averaging 40

Yeah the Lakers have also had a really soft schedule. He’ll be in the race but there’s a lot of overreaction in this sub about him so far. That being said, if he keeps it up this year might be his last best chance, with Ant out and the Thunder being gutted, it’ll probably be between him, Joker, and Wemby

Luka is. For the past few years.

Not just the last 6-7 games, but I’m also referring throughout his career especially ²³⁄₂₄. He’s always been on shit or mid teams.

yaxel

I don’t know about that… Last season he spent a decent amount of the reason injured. Had Kyrie and LeBron sharing the load.

fuck no. wemby? gianni’s? tatum?

Tbf this isn’t the bench unit against GSW, this is the third string

Always ask for more first 😜

“Vandovault Delivery Service” will take care of it.

Yes
