Hear me out guys…could he be a rookie all star? it’s early but the guy is so good
The league is too stacked now so no
I mean just going off last year’s western team
Starters were Steph Luka SGA Jokic Wemby, probably locks again this year
Then Deni, Booker, Kd, Lebron, Kawhi, Murray, Edwards, Chet, and replacements were Sengun and Fox
Lebron and Kawhi went to the East. So at least 2 spots opened up.
AE and Chet are out for awhile. Idk about Booker, Murray, Fox and Deni. I’d say Yax can outplay Fox at least.
Then there’s Kyrie, Flagg, Lamelo, Lauri, Reaves, etc.
Depends on team record, if Warriors have a surprisingly good record with Yax keeping this up, he’s a lock for sure just because of the narrative.
Yax has a shot of beating fox murray and book, id say deni will make it and sengun as well, especially if the rockets keep doing well. But if the dubs keep rolling just maybe he can do it 👀
yep edited my comment since i forgot to account for some others like Kyrie, Flagg, Lamelo, Lauri, Reaves, etc.
biggest factor is definitely team record, if it’s good then Yax will make it like 2022 Wiggins lol
Flagg, Melo, Sengun, KD, and Deni are surefire all-stars imo.
You have to mention Ty Jerome, Castle, Harper, Jamal Murray, Dame, McDaniels, Zion, and Keyonte George as possibles. It really depends on who heats up and builds a narrative.
As of this moment, I’d go
Starters: Luka, SGA, Curry, Flagg, Wemby
Reserves: KD, Jokic, Jerome, Deni, Sengun, Fox, LaMelo
Definitely went chasing the 40 piece and it almost cost us 😅
He didnt really force things, one three is a hail Mary when Podz passed him the ball in late clock, another three is a wide open he just missed it
I don’t think it was too much of a force but he got 3 happy. I would’ve been much happier if he took it inside more. I’m still happy with his overall game though!
Yeah, kinda stupid take you have
It looks like he saved Steph’s final chapter. They basically got a max extension level player in the draft. Would you rather have him or Franz Wagner on your team right now? Insane question I did not think I’d be asking 1 month ago.
Michigan man or Michigan man
Why not both
Outside of the chucking at the end to try and get 40 he was on fucking fire man
I will forever love this man.
Same. Since Pistons couldn’t get himI’m glad he went out west so I can still mostly root for him.
I’m both a uofm alum and a warriors fan so I’m having an amazing time :D
Complete demon on offense scoring inside, midrange and outside on insane efficiency and playing within the flow of offense, not looking to force shit, although started jacking up shots at the end to chase 40 but can’t blame him. Absolutely dominant holy shit
I think the Warriors have a better chance of being competitive than most people think depending on health for the old guys in the playoffs.
Steph is playing at a very high level, Draymond is still there and they still get Moody back and most importantly Jimmy, even if he is back at 80%, he makes them much better.
The key though is, Yaxel wasnt supposed to be this impactful this early, as the 3rd best player on a team he should excel and then the 4th and 5th best players being Podz and Draymond is decent enough.
Looking at their losses, there is context to them: they lost to the Lakers badly (beat them later), lost a game they should have won against the Grizzlies (who are 6-0 btw) with a big blown lead and lost a throwaway game against the suns resting key players.
I think they will be good depending on health since their core is old.
Grizz being 6-0 makes that loss look way better in hindsight.
That’s the issue with the Warriors. Their best players miss games leading to them going through the playins and if they get through that they play one of the top teams in the West. We’ll see it Yax changes anything.
i think they’ll finish in the top 6 and avoid the play in. they’re going to be very good when jimmy comes back.
With the Timberwolves missing Ant and the Thunder missing 3 of their starters for an extended period I can see it
Yep
if we can trade KP and and some draft picks for anyone impactful i think we can be interesting. but until then i expect us to be a play-in team at best and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
You forgot De’Anthony Melton who imo is cruising towards 6th MOTY consideration if he keeps up the lock down defense and sinking his shots
And this is with him chucking like 4 bad shots at the end trying hit 40, kid is nuts
Went from 6-8 to 6-11 on 3s 😔 but man what an amazing night
Weren’t terrible shots outside of like 1 tbf, just wasnt falling
This draft class is crazy
Some of them were end of shot clock heaves, not all of them were hunting
Absurd rookie class
A man amongst boys out there
Unc is just out here collecting checks until that pension comes in.
Playing the clipper must be the same as playing university ball
I USED TO PRAY FOR TIMES LIKE THIS
He’s talking and backing it up I’m surprised
nah but but luka is the next mj and will for sure drop 80 points bro you shouldn’t say mean things to him 😢🤣
What is crazy is that everyone talked shit about his age but if he continues playing roughly like how he has played over his first 7 games, how many 24 and younger players would you take over him? Outside of those clear cut #1 draft picks (wemby, Flagg, etc) not many.
Which is pretty damn wild to think about.
Yea, another reason the age thing is dumb is that simply he is good NOW. Being old for a rookie is a problem in two general ways:
They aren’t nba good yet, and the thought of they’re old so they won’t keep developing significantly
In an optimistic scenario, they’re old so they won’t have as many good years in the nba for the team
Well… 1, he is good (great actually, with a small sample), and 2, what a great problem to have. Oh no you only get 12 years instead of 15?
And the only reason why he took till he was 23 to get drafted was because he didn’t play aau, only had 11 games on tape for his high school career which lead to him not getting scouted for college. He basically start playing serious basketball during his last year of high school, and had to take a longer route to the nba just cause he started his bball development late
This is how we ended up with Toumani.
ROY.
Front runner for ROTY
Stats would look even better if he wasnt chucking threes at the end for the 40 but lesgooo
unc still got it
Genuinely didn’t think that someone with one foot in the grave could still produce like this
I just saw someone fall to their knees at a In-N-Out

My Way Too Early Reaction: fuck ROY, there are open spots on the all star team with the injured players in the West. Keep it up, Rook!
Same same
37 points on damn good efficiency. Yaxel is going to be a problem.
Going to be?
To be fair, I knew he was going to be a problem since I watched all his games at Michigan, just not this quickly.
Not bad for a 43 year old
got inspired by Gabby Williams last night after she showed him the WNBA Finals Trophy lol
All of last week I saw nothing but highlights of this dude so I decided to watch the laker game against the warriors. The dude played like complete ass and I told myself it was just hype. LMFAO guess I was wrong
his other games have been ok or good, tonight was really good. that laker game was garbage though, moment got to his head.
I thought it was very encouraging how the Warriors were very clearly rallying around him and trying to take it to Luka in his stead though
And rookies are bound to get humbled. The fact he played that bad against the Lakers and then came out and played like this with no Steph and Dray. Shows mental toughness. I think he’s gonna be very very good.
he still has some issues mentally like getting too worked up on that game. but hey, everyone has their 1st.
but yaxel has been our solid 2nd option that usually produces 20+ points. he’s good
Yeah he’s still a rook. He got in his own head and put to much pressure on himself for that game.
I think we can only conclude that him playing like ass against the lakers was your fault.
He got early foul trouble guarding Luka and that got into his head apparently. I still think he did a decent job though because he knew when to step back and rely on his team.
Yaxel is averaging 22.2⁄7.3⁄3.7 on 65% TS in only 32 mpg this season with very solid defense.
For reference, last season:
Scottie Barnes - 18.1⁄7.5⁄5.9 on 58% TS
Brandon Ingram - 21.5⁄5.6⁄3.7 on 57% TS
Chet Homgren - 17.1⁄9.3⁄1.3 on 56% TS
Pascal Siakam - 24.0/6.6⁄3.8 on 56% TS
Norman Powell - 21.7⁄3.5⁄2.5 on 61% TS
All of those guys were all-stars last season. Take from that information what you will.
I would not say solid defense yet he will get there
you are using the word solid defense very loosely
Superstar
When Draymond said they found a new face of the org, I couldn’t believe him at first. Now I understand.
I know he’s a 24 year old rookie but he’s played less games of organized basketball than Cam Boozer who is 5 years younger
He’s played only 163 while Boozer has played over 200
the last pick in my fantasy team doing the heavy lifting 💪
Unc still got it
My ROY
Yaxel MVP race
Man I was lowkey hoping we’d do the AD trade and have Yax be a wizard. This kid’s a stud
I think this guy is good at basketball
Take it to the Yax!
