Luka Doncic in the 1st quarter vs the Raptors: 16 points, 4 steals, 1 blk, 2 charges drawn
16/4/3, Seems like he took the slander from the warriors game personally and is doing a bit of everything so far.
4 steals is crazy
He’s always been good at steals but this game he has been next level
anybody slandering him for that Warriors game is insane, we already have more bench pts in 1 quarter than that whole game
Kept seeing posts like “he’s too heliocentric” etc like the undisputed top 2 players of all time were not heliocentric
e: spelling
Apparently the fact that the rest of the players don’t know how to shoot the ball is Luka’s problem too. Anything he does it’s always negative and also not a winning player.
I think some of the criticism is warranted. However, the overreaction is just insane.
Which is hilarious considering the Lakers losing by 25+ when he was off the court was essentially the entire reason the lakers lost the game
Makes no sense to conclude that Luka was the reason they lost
The only thing peiple dont like is his constant bitching and whining to the refs. Otherwise hes incredible to watch when hes just ballin out
He’s actually getting fouled that much tho
Eh he foul baits a shit tonne as well
Hard to say that this season though. They are still in the points of emphasis for the league which is calling all the foul baiting and he’s averaging like 36 a game. Meanwhile other notorious foul baiters like Shai are up on offensive fouls by 60% and down on points from last year. Extremely small sample size to be fair, but assuming the refs aren’t giving him specifically special treatment, it does imply he actually does get fouled most of the time he gets shots.
bUt hE doEsN’t dEfEnD - mostly dubs fans from last game who last watched basketball in 2019
Once the narrative sticks, its almost impossible to remove
That one charge was nearly worse than the Lamelo travel
Not even comparable. The LaMelo travel wasn’t reviewed by the refs. The charge was and they determined it was legal defense.
Yeah that’s why it’s such an egrigious call, because even a literal boulder could’ve seen that was not a charging foul. It blows my mind that they would review that and claim not enough evidence. His right foot was literally in the air
Yeah I was pretty confused by that call too. Thought it would have been overturned for sure.
Which doesn’t even make sense because he destroyed the warriors in first quarter
It was when he went to bench that the Lakers shit the bed
Don’t put this evil on me. Not again.
I’m more impressed about his defense. I’m genuinely surprised.
SLIM LUKA
Just using the clips from last game where he’s getting cooked by curry you can tell he’s making an actual effort on defense. Doesn’t mean he’s good at it but Luka isnt that bad.
I’m more impressed on the defensive end so far. 4 steals
Basically 6 if charges would count as steals. In theory they are steals as well
If that block went to a Lakers player, that means he’s responsible for 7 forced turnovers…in the first fucking quarter.
He picked him up himself. Was a strip, weirdly recorded as a block and not a steal
One of those shouldve been a foul against him pretty clearly though lol
I really don’t understand the Luka slander from that game. He was literally the only Laker who showed up.
Wdym, he wasn’t able to stop Steph Curry, that’s clearly a sign he’s garbage
Smh that makes every single player in nba history a bum. Except for my goat delly
He almost died guarding Steph
That’s what it takes while keeping up with that demon
Luka is 5 inches taller and Curry is 39. Luka should be able to avoid getting hunted.
Curry is curry man
People seem to think Steph making him fall was a big deal. Firstly it’s Steph. But Luka was actually putting in pretty good effort on D that game.
Because he couldn’t shut down one of the greatest offensive players of all time and fell once I guess…
He was +9 when he was on and he got frozen out of the game by Austin when he was hot. People just hate basketball in this sub
Yeh the guy who was +9 in a 20 point loss was the one getting slandered. Made zero sense
People here just watch highlights and box score
Even that doesn’t make sense, his box score looked great. People literally just see one highlight per game and build off that
Ding ding ding. I swear this sub is getting steadily worse in this regard
star players pretty much always get slandered for losses, plus he got dropped by steph which didn’t help
Point god himself and Gobert got put on a mixtape and they play pretty good defense, it’s not necessarily a knock on Doncic as much as it’s a notch on Curry’s belt
It is because he got his ankles broken, lol, that’s it.
If he’s not a laker today I think the narrative will be different
He’s also been elite this year. His shooting is unreal.
The Laker hate outweighs the Luka hate. Always
A superstar player especially a guard makes your average players better. LeBron did this, zeke, magic, penny. Allen Iverson, Carmelo were “me first” players who would sacrifice a victory for personal accolades. Jordan was also like this until pippens second year when he started to trust his players.
Luka is more like melo and Ai today. It’s up to him to decide what he wants to do.
I’m no expert but that sounds like pretty decent stats
he has been a good defender this year.
he got dropped by curry
luka got switched on curry and some of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA get crossed up. its like getting dunked on it happens.

You know the highlight was crazy when half the comments in a thread about the next game are talking about ut
Genuinely has been a great defender so far this year
Not sure about the second charge but he’s been nuts this first quarter.
I’m sure that it wasn’t a charge haha
MVP
He’s been the best player in the league so far despite the clowning
Glad that “amount of clowning” isn’t a criteria for best player in the league in my book
Luka is the best 1 quarter player I have ever seen in my life. Hes great the whole game every game but he is literally fucking nuts in the 1st quarter
Can’t tell you how many times he had like 20 in the first when he was on the Mavs and I thought I might see an 80 piece lol.
I would be super interested to see how many 20 point first quarters this guy has had, I bet it’s top 3 most in the nba ever if not number 1. He had like a month and a half span last year where he scored 20 points in the first almost every fucking game lmao
Found a post in the Lakers sub that said since 96-97 when they started tracking it, Luka leads with fourteen 20 pt 1st quarters. Hilariously, Harden is 2nd with 13.
Fake thunder fan, Luka not even top 5. Its the goat of the future aka the aliens turn to win mvp.
Calling it, this is the season where they finally give him that trophy
I truly don’t believe it will ever happen. Not because he doesn’t deserve it, but because he seems universally disliked by the media.
There’s been like one year where he was 2nd in the running. When he deserves it, he will probably get it.
He’s definitely the MVP as of now, but I feel like the Lakers won’t win enough games. Been creeping up on me that Tatum or Wemby might take it.
His haters will try and convince you that its pointless if hes not doing this in every single quarter
I don’t even know if I’m more impressed by the offence or defence
I’m starting to think this Luka guy is pretty good
He’s too good, hence he can’t win with his playstyle
El Nino Maravilla
He gets 50 minimum. I know that boy heated rn
The typical strong scoring quarter but the four freaking steals and two charges drawn in a 1st qtr had my eyes pop out for a second there.
Chance at the steals record !
HES THE KING OF THE FIRST QUARTER
Had me on “Wilt Watch” against Golden State the other day. He won’t fool me again.
Honestly this dude might be the greatest first quarter player of all time.
The second charge pissed me off but he’s been fuckin insane, that bank shot man
Yeah Luka was clearly moving lol. Strange call, especially after review.
You don’t have to not be moving, you have to beat the offensive player to the spot
you can move if you’re in legal guarding position
