The only time we’ve seen him at 100% is preseason last year. Then he got cancer, went through chemo, and had some mop up duty in the spring where he didn’t look like he had NBA stamina (understandable). Then he needed offseason back surgery. He’s probably back to Europe in the offseason barring a miracle.

Great passer and absolutely fantastic penetration game. In a class with Castle I thought he was the best guard at getting to the rim by a large amount during his draft cycle.

He’s definitely got potential to be one of those guys that disappears off the face of the Earth and then pops up back again when he’s 25 and is a really solid pro

He’s had a nightmare run of bad luck

He might be getting replaced by Stirtz, the PG that OKC picked up in this draft.

from the little i’ve seen him play, his absolute ceiling looked like Josh Giddey

If we’re being objective no he is not very good, but he has a gnarly backstory story and seems to be a good guy so it’s natural for people to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Last year in the G-league, after his return from cancer, he shot 55/47/87 with 8-3 AST-TO. I still think he’s very promising. Just an awful run of health luck. Fortunately for him, if he can return from his offseason back surgery, he’ll get a LOT of minutes this season. And a real chance to show OKC or his next team what he can do.

I don’t really understand how he was viewed as being worthy of a high pick originally. When I watched him pre-draft he had bad handles due to a really short wingspan with narrow shoulders which is horrible for the NBA. He wasn’t playing against long guys in europe.

He’d never be able to create space on a drive or dribble in traffic, unless he was a lights out shooter which he wasn’t close to. he has a long torso that looked like it flexed really oddly, like his feet would turn sideways to go a new direction then his top half would lag behind his hips. not amazing foot speed too. Without insane athleticism to mitigate those things or incredible savviness you’re shit outta luck usually in this league nowadays.

It was such a weird pick for Presti imo but hey he’s a legend so how can I doubt him, if Topic didn’t have so many injuries he might’ve made me look like a complete fool. Feel terrible for that guys luck and hope the best for him though.

3 different surgeries and only 10 games. No hes a raw talent that turned out to a wasted spot so far. He may eventually be good enough to be a role player but who knows.

Not really, he turns the ball over a lot, decent passer so far but his handle is terrible and jumper is ok

They can still keep him. Probably just didn’t like the price of the option.

He also had to go through a   a  lumbar  microdiscectomy

It’s weirder for them to pick up sorbers option despite him never playing for them lol

Dont forget the back surgery this summer while we all thought he was completely healthy..

Yeah, getting cancer & getting hurt sucks. But he’s made over $10 million to play in a handful of games. He’ll be fine. He can sign with OKC for less, sign with another team, or go play in Europe. He’s set for life.

He had back surgery this year too

And then make a trade with Miami for Nikola Jovic.

They’re actually good friends so it’s entirely possible that could happen

I used to work with a lot of Romanians, every third guy was named Radu.

Personality plus duo

Spurs fans argued Dillingham vs Topic for MONTHS lmao

He’s hardly an NBA player let alone the first pick caliber, you guys are on Presti s dick way too much

he tore his acl, got cancer, and he just got back surgery

If you thought JDub had a bad string of injuries wait till you see what topic had and topic was injured straight from the draft

just never available i’m sure if he got in game shape and could actually ramp up, he would be

We’re likely setting up a trade for topic.

We have literally no idea. Dude has yet to play a single game in the nba, summer league, etc.

He’s in year 2. I think they still wanna see what they have and they can always decline the final year.

They need to dump Ihart so this is their fallback plan.

Hopefully they’ll trade him to us

They’ll probably have 3 FRP in this coming draft (SAS 1-16 protected and DEN 1-5 protected ought to both convey, plus own/LAC swap rights), so there was going to be a roster squeeze one way or another. It’d be extremely surprising for Topic to get re-signed unless he has a massive breakout season somehow.

Yeah whatever that means
