You’re totally right. I fell out of my NBA fandom for a good portion of the 2010s so tbh I never really watched a lot of prime PG. I’m also just surprised he still moves so well at 36.
He was one of the most athletic guys in the nba before his leg injury.
I guess in that regard it’s amazing he moves so well still but sometimes athletic guys even when they lose a step are still athletic

This is what’s surprising me, he looks better athletically than he did a few years ago.
His skill wasn’t the issue really, it was his age his durability and his contract. If he can stay healthy all year he will be good.
He’s got such quick recognition and reflexes. Feel like he’s moving even better than during the last playoff series against us, and he was a tough defender then.

He is actually way down in terms of his possession impact from even 2 years ago, but he has had a bunch of seasons in the elite percentiles in steals. He also looks (thank god) really energetic and healthy like he did when we were throwing the 3-1 lead to the Sixers last year. He’s been awesome

It’s smart. Franz is great but he can’t shoot over and pritch is strong with a low center of gravity.
Yea it definitely seemed to work. PP also gave Josh Giddey absolute hell the other night. Joe has clearly challenged Pritchard to step up his intensity defensively and it’s really cool to see. If he can actually be impactful on that end as well (as impactful as a 6’1” guard can be in a league full of giants), it really raises the floor of his lineups IMO.
I know Paolo has his issues but if the Magic really have to pick between the two, I can’t go with the 6’10 Franz who too often plays like he’s 6’4
He is initiating from the wing as the defacto PG since that’s the game plan. So really its the game plan for him to play like he is 6’4 because the Magic don’t have a PG on the roster.

Well to be fair to Sacramento, Queta was pretty rough when the Celtics first picked him up. He was Uber athletic, but had zero instincts. Throughout the G-League and garbage time minutes he started to put it together, but he definitely wasn’t a finished product. I remember when I watched him when he first became a Celtic I thought he had stretches where he looked like Embiid and then stretches where he looked unplayable.
With that all being said the Kings cut him for a washed Javale McGee that had nothing left to contribute at the NBA level. So that is the bigger issue than just not believing in Queta.

Yeah there were points where he looked incredibly selfish and unsuited for the NBA.
Like in a screen action, you could tell if he was expecting to score or if he was just running decoy because his pace and body language would change entirely. Like a RB unwilling to sell the fake handoff play.
Now he’s one of the better and more prolific screeners in the NBA.
