Loud “Let’s go Celtics!” chants can be heard in Kia Center in Orlando, as Derrick White makes the free throws late in the 4th quarter
Brewers fans take over the Rays stadium, Steelers fans take over the Bucs stadium, Celtics fans take over the Magic arena. Such is the life of a Florida sports fan. Eventually you just don’t care
Eventually you just don’t care
That’s the thing, they never really did.
I’ll never forget Suggs shushing and waving his own crowd goodbye a few years ago. Like I get that Boston has a big fan base and a ton of transplants in Florida but my god is it lame to do that in your home arena
Central Florida is basically a bunch of transplanted New Englanders and New Yorkers.. the ones that can afford to transition their lives down there are the ones that can afford to go to games
South Florida too…..
Florida tends to be much cheaper.
in what regard?
Everything, particularly housing in general.
The ones that can afford transition? It’s a major improvement financially for anyone going from NY to FLA. Funny way of wording that.
They meant the ones they can afford to go back and forth
For a regular season game? The time is not worth it. But there are tones of New Yorkers that live in Florida. Especially going into the Winter months.
This is nothing new.
Tickets prices are to expensive for the average median income in Orlando. Especially for these high profile Games.
Fans of high profile teams who live in Orlando, only attend the game when their team plays at the Kia center.
I live like fifteen minutes away. I don’t fully understand why nosebleed tickets are so expensive. I’d happily go to a medium amount of random weeknight games but they’re always like $25-30 get in the door price. When I lived in ATL I could get tickets in the single digits. Same when I was driving distance from Charlotte.
Like, I do get it (the arena is a tiny bit on the smaller side so that consteains supply of tickets and then there’s always some folks in from out of town who are willing to do it as part of their vacation so that boosts demand) but it’s still kinda crazy to me.
Ticket prices are more expensive in Boston. Much more expensive. It’s more so the fact that Florida just has shit sports fans that don’t really care to support their teams.
Yeah people always have excuses about traffic and game timing, but Florida fans are just lame.
Heat games are empty until the second quarter. Tampa can’t get people out for baseball even when they’re great, Phillies fans take over their stadium.
The people there just aren’t locked in. Maybe when it comes to college football they are.
New Englanders can catch a cheap flight down there for the game and tickets and it’s less than just seeing the Celtics in Boston. But with fuel prices what they are they may not be the case anymore.
Boston also has a higher median household income than Orlando, so comparing ticket prices alone without accounting for purchasing power doesn’t tell the whole story.
Orlando also has a large transplant population. Fans of teams like Boston, LA, and New York who live here only get one or two opportunities a year to see their team, making them more willing to pay a premium.
That doesn’t mean Magic fans or other Florida sport fans don’t support their team.
You’re comparing two different markets with different incomes, demographics, and incentives to attend games.
At least with the Rays, they have had issues with empty seats going back decades.
It’s hard to tell since the game already happened, but Google’s cache says prices for the Magic/Celtics game were starting at $40. That isn’t being priced out at all.
Hearing this in literally every team’s arena when we’re on the road is one of my favorite parts about being a fan of this franchise
I hope you’re from New England at least because Celtics fans from outside New England are disgusting. I mean at least one of your parents needs to be from there and a fan of the Celtics.
yes my bad for being born on the other side of the planet
I was specifically talking about Americans
You weren’t very specific
Toyota Center will sound like this tomorrow night too btw
😭 what’s the point then?
Why am I getting so many downvotes? Craziness
Damn shi sound like a homegame
Early snowbird season
Not surprising. Rays / Marlins games are basically home games for northern teams like Red Sox, Yankees, Brewers. FL has a huge snowbird and transplant population.
I’m very excited to cheer for the Magic in Boston in the 16th
F off, celtics fans
Kia center is the heats arena
Kaseya Center is the Celtics 2nd home
As long as the opponents best player is injured, Celtics have many second homes
Won 10 straight games in Miami. Put up 53 in the first quarter before your fans even got there last time around.
Cool!
I said a fact, you said a fact, glad we’re just sharing true information
Nah, just a few arenas where they’re guaranteed to be louder than the home fans every single time they’re there. Usually the Heat, Magic, and Nuggets. Sometimes the Wizards too.
Healthy, I got Magic over the Celtics still
This same fully healthy Magic team vying for a playoff spot at the end of the year got beat by Joe Dirt and the Maine Celtics
When were they fully healthy at the end of last year? Anthony Black and Franz were working back on minutes restrictions at 70% strength even into the first round, where Franz re-aggravated and Black looked awful
That’s the excuse for losing to first option Baylor Scheierman huh
Not an excuse, they looked awful in that game. Was shocked they blew out Charlotte in the play-in after that game. But Magic and fully healthy is an oxymoron
I swear the majority of top 1% commentators watch the least basketball on this sub
We have the best bench in the league, Tatum is playing at a mvp level, and PG is playing like another variant of Pacers PG
I agree the Magic are not better than the celtics but “Old PG is playing like himself but older” is pretty funny
Yall are playing weak comp so far tbf. I don’t think your bench is very good and I think you will get exposed vs harder comp. I still got healthy Raps, Sixers and Knicks ahead of Boston
“i don’t understand basketball” uses fewer letters, save yourself some time
We played the Knicks
The healthy Magic are about as good as the team we just played. Paolo just screws up their entire flow.
Ah yes, the perennially almost there Magic, who are one injury and one good head coach away from contending.
Meanwhile no one on that team knows how to run an offence and their center’s girlfriend is a better basketball player (relative to peers) than him.
Okay, brother.
