Variation99a

34 | 7 hours ago

It’s mainly 5 guys so far kinda like last year to start. It’s Boozer, Wilson, Lendeborg, Acuff, and AJ. And then there’s a huge gap to the rest so far, although those guys could get way better. I need to see the efficiency go up for a lot of these younger guards before saying for sure, which I’m sure the they will with time.

Last year, we had Cooper, Knueppel, Harper, Edgecombe, and Coward all come out balling by game 20 or earlier, and that ended up being the final 5 for All Rookie First Team so it’s fairly predictive.

Funny how many of his draft profiles mentioned that he’s really good at winning.

Variation99a

15 | 7 hours ago

If his brother didn’t mess up, he could have been the greatest winner pre-NBA since Kareem/Walton (not including international players like Luka). Otherwise he had won every single high school or college accolade up to that point until his brother threw away the ball. I also know he only played a single year in college but just normalizing that since every top prospect today plays 1 year.

Whenever there are borderline consensus top picks, there will be small vocal factions of people who claim that they do not see the upside. There were people saying it about Dybantsa, Boozer, Dylan Harper, Kon, Ace, Edey, etc.

There were absolutely pundits who were saying that he wasn’t athletic enough or that he would reach his ceiling immediately because he was already a big body without room to grow. Then he had a few ugly games to close out his college career, and there were people who were staunchly anti-Boozer as a top pick.

They aren’t building a defense around him, but unironically he’s been decent on that end so far. We’ll see if the effort stays and he keeps his legs under him, but all in all… he’s pretty freaking great.

Exactly. For the narrative of a mid defender he was on the best defensive team last year that doesn’t happen if he’s a liability and grizz so far (edey massive ofc) great defense
