Despite the loss Darius Acuff with 38 points.
Kings are winless and Grizzlies are undefeated.
Acuff is a certified bucket. He hit 9 threes in this blowout loss too.
Gonna hear these posts for several years unfortunately
His whole career if he stays on the kings
Nah, in like 4 years at his peak they will trade him for an aging Ja Morant and cash considerations. Later it’ll come out our owner has always thought Morant was the best player in the NBA and thinks we can build around him after giving him a super max extension.
Nik Ja Rocks!
Also tied rookie record for 9 threes made in a game, set by fucking Roddy Beaubois of all people
Oh man Beaubois… He had some great dunks for his size.
That dude scored 40 points(9⁄11 from three) in a rookie duel against Steph Curry and left league in like 2 years
Well that won’t last
Weird because Keegan Murray hit 12 his rookie year…
Was his second year big dawg, takes 20 seconds to fact check, don’t be so condescending
There is gonna be a lot of these unfortunately
Going to be a lot of these as long as the owner is the same unfortunately. The Wolves didn’t get better post KG until Taylor started hiring outside his social circle with Rosas.
Why the low effort stat post for Acuff but Boozer has his full stats posted at the same ass time? lol. Acuff also had 5 rebs and 5 assists. 9⁄14 on 3pts and 12⁄25 overall.
We don’t matter.
You matter.
Move Sabonis. I wanna see Reynaud and Acuff with Nique and precious
You’ll matter in 1-2 years, dw!
We lost by 30 lol, don’t seek attention.
I mean, even if the Grizzlies lost which is almost an impossible feat against our terrible squad, Boozers stats would still be posted. That’s literally all I’m pointing out. Not that hard to comprehend. Don’t seek attention.
Be the change you want to see then
Patience, someone else posted it a bit later (unless that was you lol)
ROTY
Today, he’s shooting better percentages than everyone on the team, let alone celebrated iso guys like Luka and Trae did their rookie year.
Yet the level of criticism on Acuff is nothing compared to these rookies who had higher usage.
https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/luka-and-trae-rookie-stats
He shot 62% on 3s. Whenever Curry does this, no one calls him a chucker
Shooting better percentages than Luka? Luka shot .427 from the field, Acuff is shooting .378. Luka shot .327 from 3. Acuff is shooting .222. In spite of this, Acuff is averaging 7.3 more attempts from the field per game.
39.6% and 32.2% from 3. Not saying that’s good % but we’re only 6 games in and it appears to go up every game
On the surface no but the self creation etc it’s not like he’s some lob catcher corner 3pt merchant he’s been really good. People don’t understand that they see Fg% > and say someone’s better because they’re more limited.
Kangz dont trade him
Is he on a zach lavine trajectory?
Y’all just bouncing between players with these comps. Acuff looks great and is scoring on a level that we haven’t seen by rookies in a while. That said, his team is awful.
I’ve heard anywhere from Marbury to Cam Thomas to AI and now LaVine (their games aren’t even comparable)
Shame on you.
What the hell is this comparison lol
Are you even watching the highlights lol no one needs to watch the full game
I dont think many people are watching the kings games so I genuinely dont know if hes good or not. Any nba player who is allowed to shoot 30 times a game will probably put up some points
So maybe try to be positive about the kid instead of degrading him despite not even watching him play?
You don’t have to say your stupid opinion though? like nobody forced you
He shot 48% FG as a guard. 64% on 3s. The Kings as a team and as an org deserve all the trash talk. Anyone criticizing Acuff is an idiot.
Hence why I said highlights, hell even rhe box score will tell you the story.
This is the 3rd straight game the bench has had a player score under 10 points and either the 2nd or 3rd game in a row where a bench player has failed to make 3FGs.
Acuff started slow the 1st couple of games, but he has been putting on an absolute master class playing close to 35 minutes because there is no guard on the team to relieve him or set up anyone on offense. Sabonis’s passing gets negated because he is scared as shit to shoot the ball. This man is “chucking” when in reality he is the engine and every other part of the machine.
If you can even stomach it, there are plenty of plays where he sets a player up for an easy shot and said player rather have the contested brick.
Zach Lavine averaged 10 points in his rookie season, while Acuff just set the single-game record for threes in Kings history in his sixth game.
Nah Keegan got 12 years go, his record is for rookies
Yeah, people weren’t being specific enough.
How much usage was Zach getting?
not nearly as much but just having the ball in your hands more doesn’t give you 38 points on 69.9 TS%. he’s also a way better passer than lavine
Usage also matters in what the player is able to take on. Lavine wasn’t ready for that no matter how much he got forced at the stage of his career.
Dame
He learning from the best
This is going to be common.
Sabonis didn’t take a shot until late in the 3rd but yeah it’s Acuff’s fault.
And it was a fucking 3PA.
How could you watch that game and think Acuff was the reason for the team losing???
He does more than pull his weight overall. On 3s he was 9⁄14 and the rest of the team was 2⁄24. He’s on a terrible team and you say he’s the red flag?
You make Acuff Amen Thompson on the other side of the court and we still lose this game by 20 points.
So you implied it… Kings are the worst team in the league and its not on Acuff.
Acuff has the worst collection of vets around him and that’s what you’re taking out of this lol.
The rest of the team was 2 of 24 from three. Acuff was 9 of 14.
He had 9 of the Kings 11 threes.
But yeah, totally a bad teammate. It’s all on him. /s
Great stats for sure
Making this assertion 6 games into his career while playing on the worst roster in the NBA lol
What aspects of Thomas do we even see here? Acuff is a dramatically better passer and has much better BB IQ, even as a 19 year old.
