Sigh. The Mavs passed up Brayden Burries and Yaxel Lindenborg for Morez Johnson Jr at pick #9. Morez will probably become a very solid defensive forward, but I just don’t see the high ceiling that Brayden and Yaxel have. Plus, both of those players would have been a better fit around Cooper Flagg, on a team loaded with power forwards.
Morez is #9 similar fashion like CMB. Masai picked both? Logical. His package is what DAL needs. Scoring will be find
I would rather have Nate Ament or Mara instead as well. Didn’t understand jumping up for Morez when no other board had him at that tier. He has a high floor but his ceiling is also probably capped a bit more than some of the others. Maybe the previous regimes not leaving them with many draft picks made the Mavs front management scared to take a risk with one of the few picks they have remaining this decade.
Yeah, but this year they actually had a second pick in the first round. That’s why it made no sense. You draft a riskier high ceiling player, with All Star potential, with a top 10 pick. You draft a safer high floor, lower ceiling player with the second pick.
