My guess is they had to wait for inflammation to come down on Chet and didn’t expect the tear, so the timetable extended. With that we’ll probably qualify for a hardship exemption which means being able to sign a player to a 16th roster spot on rotating 10-days. It sucks for Agbaji, but Presti’s still got to do what’s best for the organization first.

It’s also possible that Presti, seeing 73% of our salary is in long-term injury with 2 of our starters likely not coming back for the season, wants to keep the flexibility of the roster spot in case we decide to start shedding salary (trading Caruso and/or iHart) in the season instead of waiting for the off season because the returns might be better.

Being able to sign Agbaji to a 10-day, keep the roster spot open, and test him out before rostering him is the best option for the team.

I think they will still sign him in the next days

Except that one time he didn’t want to pay Harden.

Gordon Hayward shit all over himself

Lol we gave Hayward every opportunity to not shit his pants and he did so repeatedly and proverbially flipped us off on his way out the door. Fuck em

You literally couldn’t be more wrong with this take.

Gordo actively passed up shots in games he was given a chance to do his thing. He never bought into the system and even his post game invite to bark with the other dogs you could tell he thought was corny and forced.

He was out of the league the very next season. He was washed and couldn’t cop to it til no one else signed him. That guy cooked his own career.

Fuck Gordon Hayward and his wife

Oh brother

He’s possibly the greatest drafter in NBA history, insane player development and roster building under him. He is one of the best ever

Yeah it’s weird man

It’s almost like he has a pretty good track record over a pretty long period of time. I fucking despise the thunder but can’t really hate on Presti as an exec.

That’s just taking data and using it.

He’s not wrong though

best gm of all time easily

Extremely overrated. Far from perfect.

Lmao bro thought he’s going to a contender, then he finds out he’s not getting into the league, then he finds out he’s getting sent to hell

Due to the “continuation clause”, Simmons is being paid his full salary no matter what. The Kings are about $3 million from the tax, and while waiving Simmons will open a roster spot, it will not affect how far we are from the tax. So it’s unlikely we cut Simmons since we’re probably not gonna dip in the tax for 2 randoms.

Agbaji is also just like a genuinely nice dude. I worked at a restaurant that did athlete dining dollars in Lawrence when he was at KU, and he was honestly one of the nicer athletes that came through.

Side note. Grady Dick would come in, eat like a 2500+ calorie meal, and then go for like 24 that night. The same meal would have given a normal person bubble guts for days. He is not human.

Yeah I mean that have to sign someone anyone on a vet min now. It’s a bad look regardless of who his agent is.

These fucking first to ring the buzzer mouthpiece “reporter” “inside” “journalists” should really feel ashamed of the life they live with millions of dollars and no sleep. Dianne Russini has more integrity

I would say it’s gotta be JDub, but I don’t know how many teams are rolling the dice on him right now given his injury problems. I don’t know who else they would shop for a big name, maybe iHart, but they have plenty of pieces they could shop for some bench pieces. There’s definitely a backup big drought around the league, and OKC has like 3 of them. I know some teams that would kill for someone like J. Will right now. Lakers and 76ers come to mind

4-1 now, just wait another month

the injuries all hit at 4 lol

I don’t remember the organization announcing it, just Shams. Could’ve gotten the info from player’s agent and not the Thunder.

Thunder announced it? Where? Can you link it here?

no formal announcement from either party, just “sources”

This is it

Hart Will and Mara is a really good center trio.

Caruso ain’t healthy right now and always misses games.

AC is even out with a sprained ankle lol

I think for the moment it’s Shai, Ajay, IHart, and one of McCain, JWill, or Mara

Even with all the injuries they’re not gonna be lower than a play in seed, and as long as they have everyone back except JDub by the playoffs then theyre still contenders. The only thing I worry about is the load this is gonna put on SGA to carry this team

I mean it definitely helps that the west isn’t all that deep any more, but I agree they’ll make the playoffs they’ve got too many great bench players to propel them

I half agree with you, but they need wings. Not even good wings, but they need warm bodies with some size.

They were gassed against the Mavs the other night. They don’t have enough talent on the bench to keep up anymore. They are gonna end up with more injuries too since everyone is gonna be carrying a lot more weight to try and compete until they get some guys back.

You’ve listed three centres when you need a big wing who can play the 4.

When I say that I think they need a bigger wing. Not like a fully big. Being down Jdub and Chet means they are really short at forward. Agbaji is 6’5”

My expectations for him are that he is a human being with fully functioning limbs that can put on a Thunder jersey

Word on the street is sometime in November I think

Ordinarily yes, that would be a huge boon for the perennially contending thunder but 27 is a weak draft. Maybe they get a cost controlled high end role player or two.

It feels like every team in the league needs big man depth

And why is that?

Because a contract that was not signed yet wasn’t signed after people assuming it was signed?

Great argument! I hope your family loves you

That’s actually called business. There are many of these every season we don’t hear because the player’s agent doesn’t open his mouth before the contracts are signed.

The sonics did win one in ‘79?? Im confused

Call us the Thunder because of the noise when we take the floor in full plate mail.

Yeah the only way to actually get out of the tax would be like trading 3 guys like Kenny, Sorber, Topic. That wont happen and then your next best move is Ihart trading him a year early and I doubt they can find a deal that makes sense
