Lakers are obviously not real contenders lol they have literally no on-ball defense at all

Luka is a good floor raiser so I can see them making playoffs but not more than that

h2oskid3 | POR

46 | 5 hours ago

As soon as Luke steps off the floor the offense just kind of falls apart, not to mention the defense.

sktyrhrtout [OP]

18 | 5 hours ago

It seems like they also rarely work Walker into the offense. There was a 7-8 straight possession stretch where he didn’t touch the ball unless it was a rebound.

Ok-Association-3415 | LAL

2 | 5 hours ago

You got a big like Kessler and struggling outside, dump it in and let him do some work down there. Does he have a post game of sort? I feel like bigs of yesteryears would feast in today’s game. Shaq would score 100 pts!

sktyrhrtout [OP]

3 | 5 hours ago

He would but he’d also have to guard a stretch 4 so… But you’re absolutely right about the post game. Kessler has enough to mix something in to create some space. It was just crazy they didn’t even work a pass to him or anything for that long.

maplesyruppierogi | DAL

1 | 4 hours ago

I feel like they might be scared of overworking him on offense and risking injury. No other explanation why hes not used more

Kvsav57

6 | 5 hours ago

I’m not a huge Lakers fan but suggesting that it’s even in question that they make the playoffs is silly. They could make it as far as the WCF maybe but probably a second round exit.

laker fans arent really rooting against lebron like or anything. he went to an already great team for the minimum, if he did for the lakers, he could get tough wins over anyone as well.

maybe at the lakers reddit but every move we made, many of us are like wtf are we doing this team is stupid as fuck. going from legm to lukgm just means luka gets massive stats and they just “in it”.

Can’t believe I’m going to give them the benefit of the doubt but I know from experience with my own team that when you have a very big sized fanbase some of them are bound to say dumb shit. Can’t blame that on the entirety of them

He and the Sixers are a top 3 defense. He still looks good on defense when he’s not surrounded by turnstiles.

sharoon12

14 | 5 hours ago

I hate the term floor raiser… It over simplifies a players impact.

A teams floor is more about depth of talent.

Luka gives the ability to have a high powered offense, that’s more then simply raising the floor.

They’re just a bad defense… Which a big part of that was their desire to get rid of LeBron…

Barracuda374 | MIA

7 | 5 hours ago

He’s not saying that Luka is “just” a floor raiser

sharoon12

-6 | 5 hours ago

No he just used the word, which over simplifies the game of basketball… Which you feel the need to defend.

BlackMilk23 | BOS

1 | 4 hours ago

A teams floor is defined as how bad that team CAN be.

A team with a healthy Luka basically won’t be bad. Thats incredible and not an insult at all. A single digit number of players are impactful enough to raise a team’s floor.

Wow excellent expert analysis!!! You must be on Charles Barkley levels on analyzing. It’s one game bro….

Ok-Association-3415 | LAL

If the bench continues to stink it up, it’s a lottery team. Need someone to be a 3 pt threat besides AR and Luka. Sexton should be benched if he’s going to act like the first option and jack up shots. Next 5 games will tell if things are going to improve.

Another game where Kessler was iced out. The lakers NEED to give Kessler the ball more. Thats probably their golden ticket this season.

Unless Reaves is gone I dont see any other way. Is Luka and Reaves scared of Kessler getting hurt? Or do they not trust him yet?

The Lakers when they play well look like a well rounded team. And the 1st quarter supported this.

This loss was more on JJ than Personnel IMO

sktyrhrtout [OP]

4 | 5 hours ago

Yeah, I counted a stretch of 7-8 possessions where he didn’t touch the ball unless it was a rebound. Not working him into the offense is crazy.

Croppersburner | LAL

4 | 5 hours ago

Bros the ONLY 7 footer on the court and they made him play like draymond instead of shaq

sktyrhrtout [OP]

0 | 5 hours ago

Reddick has to see it. They should figure that part out I think. Their defense and bench depth will probably keep them from 2nd round or deeper in the playoffs but they should at least be able to get something going together to build off next year.

Augchm | PHI

8 | 5 hours ago

Luka can’t find Kessler because he gets doubled early. Even if he passes to him he is too far away from the basket to do anything. Reaves needs to be better.

Croppersburner | LAL

4 | 5 hours ago

Then Reaves, Thybulle, or Grimes needs to come and help. Luka cant pass put of a double all game but even when it was single coverage they weren’t hitting kessler

derpenor

2 | 5 hours ago

JJ just refused to take timeouts on multiple warrior runs in the 2nd quarter. Just gifted them all the momentum they needed while lakers bench got shit on

Croppersburner | LAL

-1 | 5 hours ago

Im not so much against the time out thing. Im more so confused as to how the gameplay failed so miserably.

They were getting kessler involved, moving the ball, and playing team basketball. Something coaching wise happened.

They really should have more plays for him to score when he’s against this team, especially after what we saw in the 1st game.

So far the Grimes and Sexton signings have been a complete disaster, Thybulle and Williams have been much better but are probably gone next summer since they’re on one year vet mins.

Lakers losing productive players because they misallocate resources is a theme the past few years, remember losing Malik Monk due to something similar.
