Our commentary team is genuinely embarrassing. Imagine calling this a routine shooting motion.
They’re massive homers. They were making fun of Jokic for calling for a review that he eventually won while Booker was also whining at the ref at the same time.
Seriously, was baffled they were clowning Jokic for what was going to be an obvious overturn.
I was losing my mind with how dumb they sounded. is this normal?
Yes. They are even worse than the Warriors’ commentators.
I’m watching the Suns broadcast, it’s not close.
There have been quite a few mistakes that feels like they don’t really know the players on the court.
That’s a stretch. But yes, terrible moment on their part
The thing with Fitz is that when the Warriors are doing well, he’s more than willing to give the opposing team/players credit for good play (because “Hey, the Dubs are doing great, so I can throw the other team a bone with some praise!”). But when the Warriors are playing terribly, he’s constantly whining & complaining and he’s been like that for over 20 years now and I’ve been sick of it from the very beginning.
there is nothing worse than the warriors duo
What is this, the Warriors broadcast team?
one of them is goodish the other is so bad
They are really are super biased though haha and Fitz whines a lot when the calls don’t go our way
I love the warriors summer league broadcast guys. Just good dudes who love basketball
I mean, it’s a fade away, sometimes your leg just goes up straight into a dudes nuts.
Real talk, is an f2 soft? Yes. But is Brooks exactly the kind of guy you expect to try and kick his opponent in the nuts? Also yes
his leg went way too high for that to be natural
It looked to me like he pushed his leg to kick the jewels
His leg extends in a motion that would indicate it was meant to make contact with a nut possibly both.
Is an F2 soft? I mean, that depends on if you think he did it deliberately. And to me, he very obviously did. And I say that as a Duck fan who is predisposed to like Dillon. I just don’t see how you watch that and think it was a natural shooting motion. And if it wasn’t, it means he was trying to kick the dude in the nuts. Which should very obviously be a F2.
Would it be soft to call a flagrant 2 for a player just casually walking up to another player and kicking him in the balls? I’d say not. The only difference between that and this play is a flimsy and transparent layer of pretense.
This is the first game I’ve watched with the Suns commentators as far as I can remember. One of the two has spent the entire third quarter acting all moody and doing nothing but whine about how the Suns are playing and make catty comments about players on the Nuggets. Have only muted broadcasts a few times before but he earned it pretty quick (the other one seems totally fine, for what its worth).
That’s Eddie Johnson. Or fanbase mostly loves him. I’m not sure why. His bias even annoys me. Like he straight up lies about what his eyes are seeing sometimes. Kevin Ray, the other one, is generally pretty good, I think.
Eddie Johnson drives me mad. He is an ELITE sports radio guy on Sirius, but bottom 5 TV announcer to me. Ridiculously fast to accuse the other team of playing dirty, and every time he calls a game it feels like it’s the first time he’s seen the opponent play. Just making up player tendencies based on their build or age
Eddie Johnson is pretty standard curmudgeon homer commentator. It’s pretty grating after a while but he still gives credit to the other players for the most part but he complains a lot. He’s not the worst in the league but not good either. Kevin Ray is pretty good but he spams the “Boom” way too much
His mood seems to range between bored and mildly irritated to me, that always bothers me more than the homerism.
I would absolutely hate him if he wasn’t for my team. But his bias against the refs is kind of endearing cuz hes genuinely a fan. It feels like im watching the game with my old neighbor or something.
That sounds awful.
The legs literally dangle in a very natural shooting motion and then SUDDENLY jerk straight towards somone’s gonads :eyes:
They were also incredulous when Adelman challenged the Jokic strip foul (which was overturned)
Eddie Johnson is top 100 in fouls received in NBA history, his judgment might be a little clouded
Bruh I am watching this game and your commentary team is straight up annoying. The bias is so crazy.
Bro doesn’t know the foot swing counterbalance shooting technique smh
So happy to not have to deal with his shit anymore. That’s some Draymond level fuckery
Truly, bottom of the league bad announcer crew. But it’s kinda perfect for a city like Phoenix
Brooks (and Draymond, honestly) has a history of doing exactly this too: when shots are well contested he ‘makes the defender pay’. He usually brings his arms down across the defender’s shoulders/neck. He’s been penalized for this a half a dozen times I can remember.
And it’s was against a fellow countrymen. Canadian on Canadian crime is diabolical.
If they have to just go full nuclear and call every leg kick out like that a flagrant 1 (or 2 if you kick them in the nuts lol) I think that would be fine with me honestly. I’m sick of these leg kicks on jump shots to make contact
Can we hire a necromancer to bring Al back?
Lakers and Thunder fans would absolutely defend this if it were Luka or SGA
subservient suns fan karma farming in the nba sub trashing his own team. what kind of man does this. no man, no man at all
The fact that the shot was so short leads me to believe he was 100% focused on landing the nut shot.
He didn’t even have time to land on his feet he kicked so fast out lol
I’ll never get over Draymond absolutely blasting Steven Adams in the crotch in the playoffs and it wasn’t even a flagrant 1
I’ll never understand how Draymond somehow ended up with Steph’s superstar whistle
“The dark side of the force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural “
The refs simply don’t want to be next.
Because if Steph had his actual whistle the game would’ve been broken.
lol I agree shit i think down the line he did it again to Adam just to make sure it wasn’t a flagrant 😂
Legit Gave him that special discount double nut check
Adam’s took it like a champ, he was giggling in disbelief after the game if I recall.
Probably couldn’t believe we beat the shit out of the Warriors like that lol
Surprised it was a flagrant two, but Brooks is such a clown
This is very much a reputation flagrant two. Other players would get the benefit of the doubt.
Except Draymond? Who had a reputation but got away with it under the guise of “natural shooting motion”
i dont think he had a reputation at that point. He was just getting it started
The biggest clowns are the suns announcers defending this
Honestly, I think it’s just because he was known as a dick puncher for a while. So the Draymond kick on the fadeaway into Murray’s boys was just probably more of a reputation flagrant than an actual flagrant foul.
the first two shoves by brooks look a bit like attempts at dick punches too
Yeah, watching the play I was thinking “I know he’s trying to punch his penis, but he got a flagrant two without even connecting….? Oh. Got him.”
I feel like they’ve been quicker to call F2’s this year. Seen a few that should have been F1’s instead. And all of them were kicking out a player on a team I wasn’t rooting for
We’ve come a long way since 2016
1 flagrant for each nut
That’s obviously intentional. Brooks kicked his leg so far outward that he couldn’t even land on his feet. You can’t kick a guy in the balls and expect to stay in the game.
I just don’t understand the desire to kick a guy in the balls while shooting the ball. Even being dirty and trying to injure your opponent - as abhorrent as it is - it makes sense that a person might want to do that because you actually hate them or you want them out of the game so you’re more likely to win - but what do you get out of kicking someone in the nuts?
Him and Murray were shit talking each other all game before this
Hell, even before that he looked to be doing intentional reverse karate chops at him
Natural draymond shooting motion.
He was so focused on kicking him in the nuts he didn’t even locate the hoop lol
I’m all for homerism in the home team broadcasting, but c’mon, there ain’t shit natural about that.
By natural they mean its his natural shot. He does this every shot even if hes wide open.he shouldn’t, but he does.
He kicks his foot up in the air every time?
Only if there’s a cheap shot to be made
He really does. Its stupid.
“It’s unfortunate, you know? You hate to see a guy with an iron kneecap implant go up against a guy wearing a giant magnet under his balls. No way to prevent this. Hope the refs just say play on.”
Im fine with that, don’t kick people in the balls
Or you know, don’t kick people anywhere
I’m sorry, I thought this was America!
Canada on Canada crime
First thing I thought of lol.
We Canadians are a polite people. How’d Brooks end up one of us?
Is he adopted?
Bro did the forbidden Draymond technique
I came here hoping to defend Brooks on what have been some questionable flagrants handed out this year…and then I saw he was on offense, and knew it was going to be the right call.
He just can’t help himself, but to do dumb shit.
Dillon Brooks went as Draymond Green for Halloween and really committed to the bit
The Draymond
Wtf is “The Draymond”, that could be anything: nut shot, suplex, headlock, falcon punch, armbar, the list is huge.
Don’t forget the eye gouge
He saves those only for the superstars.
Good. Consistency aside, I’m fine with them strongly discouraging this fuckery early in the same. Rat shit
Jimmy Butler did this to Aaron Gordon in the finals, and Gordon was given the foul lol
Holy shit
I hate Dillon Brooks. This is clearly a foul. Maybe a flagrant. Not a flagrant 2.
How is intentionally kicking someone in the nuts not ejection worthy?
Yeah part of the point of flagrants is deterring the move. Brooks is maybe just trying to draw some type of lower body contact here, but he blasted Murray’s nuts because he added a judo kick to his shot.
I’m fine with them giving him a good reason to not do it again. Brooks doesn’t care about getting a flagrant 1.
Draymond got away with it for years
Just cause my team is doing it doesn’t mean I’m okay with that shit
So?
Got away with it for two games and got suspended the third. That’s such an hyperbole ;p;/
Those are the ones you rememberKicked grant williams in the nuts… Allen crab in the face, the list goes on
Whats that got to do with Dillon Brooks
You can say for certain it was intentional? I just think this type of thing happens on so many plays where the shooter kicks their leg out. Call a flagrant, sure, but I think throwing someone out of the game for this is excessive.
Watch it again. As his shooting motion is complete, he kicks out.
It blows my mine that people watch these hyper coordinated athletes do crazy shit all season then turn around and think they don’t have full control of their bodies when they do shit like this. Of course it was intentional.
When it’s someone responsible for more kicks to the balls than the Jackass franchise…there’s a pretty good chance he meant to.
Intention is irrelevant, impact is what’s important. I don’t know if booker did this intentionally but it’s clearly a dangerous play so given the benefit of review it’s definitely a flagrant
Intention is extremely relevant
*Brooks
Slowmo it looks not that bad, but real time it looked eggregious.
It’s definitely a 2
i didn’t see it when I first watched the slow mo. I laughed the 2nd time though 😂. its like if the NBA and WWE did a crossover
If it was a natural shooting motion it shouldn’t be a foul at all. I agree a foul makes sense, but this was nowhere near as bad as some of the contact to the head we see not called or not upgraded, let alone two a F2
In what world is intentionally kicking someone in the groin not unnecessary and excessive lmao
Ya their opinion would change the moment their nuts got slammed by a brooks size foot w force.
the NBA’s textbook definition for flagrants are such shit. Every foul is unnecessary. All unnecessary contact is excessive. They’re really just going on vibes.
I think, compared to other calls over the last few years, this didn’t rise to a flagrant 2.
Got him right in the nuggets.
Oh, he got two alright! Okay, bye
bravo
Dillon “hit em in the nuts” Brooks
Damn canuck on canuck crime. Thats not very polite
I’ve seen less intentional kicks in soccer games.
This is what Dillon does to his friends lol
Imagine if he didn’t like you
wasnt even trying to make the shot he was focused on the nuts lol
Natural shooting motion
Classiest shooting motion, learned it in bar fights obviously, hence why it’s so natural.
Why do we assume a bad call when it’s a kick to the balls ?
Who ever finds this problematic, was never kicked in the balls.
He was trying to hit him there with his hands on the post up back down, and then kicks him there on the jump shot. Man was blatantly more focused on nut hunting than actually trying to score.
its a bad call because any other player that does this (draymond), its only a flagrant 1 at worst. giannis literally dunks going knee first. if it happens to hit the defender’s groin, he gets the and-1 because they impeded his path with their nuts
Yes, intentionality matters and it’s obvious Brooks intentionally did that.
Dillon “Luka Dong Kick” Brooks
Can we call a flagrant 2 on the court though?
