Lebron was a good scorer with a limited bag for years

The streets won’t forget that a good chunk of the NBA media and social media (who likely didn’t watch him that closely at Duke) was calling Cooper unathletic and unlikely to consistently contribute to scoring at a high level until he developed more at the NBA level, but with high defensive upside; at least before last season and his well earned ROTY campaign.

He will be knocking on the door of All-NBA teams sooner rather than later. This is the worst he’s going to be barring injury and/or as he nears retirement in 15+ years. It is sort of insane how good he is, and with a few more reps at 3pt, which Dusty May seems to have given him a green light to try and take to better develop, he is likely to be a very potent three level threat.

I dunno about that. I always comped him to Siakam’s offense with AK47’s defense. Didn’t think he was raw really.

Some dumbasses put Flagg not even in the top 4 in the most recent draft.

It’s absurd to dismiss an entire person due to a single take but, man, that’s such an absolute dog shit take from him that I’m not sure I can take his work seriously anymore.

That take makes SAS blush.

I’m as big an advanced stats guy as anyone but rookie year impact metrics are the biggest bait ever, especially for non-big primary creators

That was just it, an idea. But it was already a done-deal consensus that Flagg is 1st pick. Nobody was expecting anything but that.

Flagg wasn’t playing lik this his rookie year tho

i thought his ceiling was an anthony davis, but its giannis lol.

He can become the goat and the Mavs couldve still gotten a haul

The bitterness will always exist.

Trade will never be worth, but you all get the next best thing - Gen Z LeBron.

Haha the irony is he is not part of the trade 😂 we can have them both

No. Imagine the Mavs trading Dirk for Alonzo mourning after losing to the heat in 2006

Fortune favors the bold or something

Luka just dropped 21 in the first quarter, slow your roll

No, the luka doncic trade, even if mavs went and won 5 straight championships now will always be the worst trade in NBA history.

I mean Warriors fans are stoked about Yaxel because he was the 11th pick and Curry can’t wait for a 19 year old rookie. Totally different.

Age matters when it comes to ultimate ceiling, but once you are past like pick 1-3 you just want the player with the best chance to be good. Like in 2012 AD should have gone ahead of Dame partially due to being way younger, but after that Dame should have been higher considered than he was.

Yaxel as a rookie is older than literally all the Rockets younger core. He’s older than Sengun which sounds crazy to say.

Think it just depends on the situation. Yaxel is the perfect “ready now” prospect for a team looking to compete while their window slowly closes around their aging stars, but at the same time Coop is an obvious perfect fit for a team looking to build from the ground up.

But if the idea is “wow, if he’s doing this at 19, imagine how incredible he’ll be at 25!”, a lot of things have to go right for a fanbase to actually benefit from that. “Look at what Luka Doncic is doing at 19!” Great, but before he turned 26 he was doing it for a different team. “Look at how Ben Simmons and Kristaps Porzingis have shown out as rookies! Imagine how they’ll be in their prime!” The answer was that by the time their primes arrived they were already broken down. And then of course there’s the fact that by the time Flagg is Yaxel’s age he’ll be making a supermax, while the Warriors have Yaxel locked into a rookie deal until he’s almost 30.

I don’t think he will reach Luka’s level of scoring at will, but I could definitely see him being the overall better player when it’s all said and done.

I still have mad love for Luka and I’m holding onto the (probably delusional) hope that he comes back, but Coop just has it. I was on the hype train way before he ended up in Dallas.

Yeah but in his first 5 games he wasn’t putting up all nba numbers yet

Ye but did you see Bronny lock him down during summer league?

I feel like this is 65% visual. Not just being a white guy but the facial hair, t-shirt, build - he looks from a distance like a guy who always gets called scrappy and a tough competitor.

links?

No “since” sometimes like youngest to score 50.

So according to you since Bron is still playing then there are no other generational players since that title goes to him……….

Dumb

Are you someone that thinks that Curry and KD aren’t generational players cause Lebron exists? Also Wemby’s not clear of Coop’s projection yet, calm down

I always took it to mean a specific type of player. Like a generational guard, center, forward, shooter, and so on. Not so much there is only one generational player in the league at one time. Like Flagg is probably in the running to be the defining forward of his generation. Wemby I think is something else entirely given he is so unique. I’m not even sure what to call him.

Just him and Wemby tbh

I tend to look at it like positions. Like a generational guard, forward, center, shooter, and so on. I think Flagg is in the running for being the generational forward of this era. He’s had all the hype going back to high school and has lived up to all of it too, which adds to it.

A generation in basketball is about five years, so on average you’re gonna get one every five. But sometimes you can get multiple within a few years, and others you can go over a decade without one i.e. MJ to Kobe

Generational talent is:

You have already been put in the headlines with lofty expectations very early in your basketball career. You exceeded them immediately once you entered the NBA. Examples: Magic, Bird, MJ, LeBron, Shaq, Duncan, Luka, Wemby, Flagg.

You came out of nowhere, changed the entire basketball landscape, and became a legend. Example: Stephen Curry.

he will be missed RIP

And Brian cardinal too

Bradly too and Kidd I guess

Luka averaging 29/9/9 in only his second season is really not talked about enough

Not even injuries. He’s playing like a top 10 player across the whole healthy league

Even without injuries he’s definitely a T15 player

Yet

Nope, but he is getting those spot up 3s now.

You’re a legend

On the Coop hype train since before he could even get a learners permit

everything you said was completely true

As someone who grew up near his hometown, it’s wild that small Maine town produced a basketball star.

Ok

Yeah it’s crazy how this guy is not the face of the league over effing night, whatever this guy is doing this early is straight hof worthy

I get that they have a different charm for being that famous, buts how’s a number 1 draft pick that was so hyped before the draft night suddenly became this underrated player after a year

19

Facts. Why I’m not worried about France ever. Coop gonna bring us the Gold

Not even the best young player, he is top 12 already with not even being 20

God. I’ve seen what you’ve done for others, I want more.

I think for starters, the ownership would need to change.

this is humorShams Charnia

BREAKING: The Dallas Mavericks are trading Cooper Flagg and etc. to the Washington Wizards for Anthony Davis, Deandre Ayton and a first-round pick, sources tell ESPN.

Mavs had a brutal schedule to start the season too, and he left the Pacers game at half time due to a cheap foul injury.

yeah and the game that drives down his average he left at the half with injury

Basically prime Kawhi stats

Don’t forget one of his games he left halfway through so his averages at this point are still skewed down

Has to be an All-Star this season. Just hope he doesn’t join the long list of guys getting severely injured

Kyrie is such a fantastic #2 in general. Complemented Luka and Coop well.

Coop dropped a 50pt game last year without Kyrie. He can definitely carry on his own, but I agree you need that second guy that can also score well if you want to make it far in this league, and Kyrie is exactly that, did it with Bron, Luka and now Coop.

He’s saying that he’d be averaging 30

If flagg gets them a ring they’ll get over Luka, there was no reality where they got to keep Luka and draft flagg.

Give the new owner the chance. They’re still new to this. Wet behind the ears in the NBA world.

Mark Cuban is not without sin either. He traded Steve Nash to a Western rival, the Suns; his failure to build a meaningful championship team around Dirk Nowitsky for so long, despite knowing the Western Conference is a Wild West.

Also on the note. Warriors’ (then) new owner was booed by the fans because they opted for Stephen Curry over Monta Ellis.

joins great award winners like the 2026 ECF champions the Cleveland Cavaliers

Yep definitely deserves it after finishing… checks notes… 3rd in MVP voting.

Around what year did it start becoming a popularity contest and not who deserves it?

Everyone thought that draft was rigged tbf. But they lost Luka in such a flukey way that no one could be mad for long.

I feel for kings fans as a cursed franshise fan lol

Masai has a good track record of building a championship-aspiring team. He is now especially the President of Operations, holding more power over every decision.

Talk about the previous GM, Nico Harrison; to this day, I still can’t figure it out: how could someone be able to fail upward?

Not even comparing Coop to Luka, just focusing on the MVP part you said:

there are still people like this that don’t understand what is happening….

Cooper Flagg will be a top 10 all time player when its all said and done. He is that talented! This kid is incredible and has literally every attribute: Size, Strength, Athleticism, IQ, Work Ethic, gets better at an exponential rate…. including being super clutch making all of the big buckets to beat the undefeated Rockets as a 19 YEAR OLD

Top 10 all-time? Bro still doesn’t have a single MVP.

If Luka doesn’t make it to the finals or win it in the next three years would he be considered a final four gatekeeper?

top 10 all time? 😂

top 10 all time with no mvps no rings and got traded in his prime 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

“Top 10 all time” 🤣

Top 10 all-time? Brah come on

He’s not even the best maverick all time and that dude isn’t top 10

Top 10 all time? A little premature, don’t you think?

Luka will never get a ring being the team’s lead.

You said it not me i agree

Yeah I think we’ve done enough damage. Thanks for Luka!
