The NBA is a joke when it comes to rivalries. The other sports have teams that hate each other regardless of who plays for each team. In the NBA it’s entirely based on that and therefore only lasts for a limited amount of time.

I was sad we lost in 04 but like everyone liked the 04 pistons teams. One of the coolest teams of all time personally.
The rivalry was a sort of indirect one since the Warriors had taken the Lakers spot as mainstream west coast team in the late 2010s. Then it became a friendly extension of the LeBron vs Steph rivalry.
