The weird thing is they both had a good combine.

Edey showed great agility measurements especially for his size.

I don’t think either one was really that crazy. Edey still went ninth, and outside of Porzingis we haven’t seen a single good starting center above the height of 7’1 since like Yao Ming. It’s not like he’s been incredible when he’s been in the court anyway.

The players mentioned are Edey (won twice, picked 9th overall) and Cam Boozer (picked 3rd overall).

I don’t know if you’re zagging if you’re picking players that basically everyone thought was really good at the time. None of those were reaches.

The Grizzlies definitely found diamonds in the rough with players like Ty Jerome, Cam Spencer, and GG Jackson. Those players on team friendly deals + all their lottery picks on rookie contracts is why Memphis is under the salary cap. They’re about to get fucked when those contracts expire and they gotta pay market rate though.

Grizzlies have drafted good/ developed guys for like 8 years in a row who fill out the roster / have and have gotten like 7 first round picks for the future too. The gap is hardly lotto luck although any future contender team does need it.

The nets haven’t had a top 5 pick since derrick favors when they were in New Jersey. This is their own fault mostly however. The grizzlies have had 3 top 5 picks in the last 10 years but it’s not like the pieces they have now were built from those. They just grabbed every underrated player in the nba

The grizzlies were my 3rd favorite team entering the year because every time I’m like this player is underrated the grizzlies grab them. Scotty Pippen and Jay huff (he’s gone now) were two of my fav gleaguers, Ty Jerome was my fav fa 2 off seasons ago, Cedric coward and Edey were super high on my value for draft. I think boozer should have been the number one pick. I’ve always loved beef stew. Then they have some other guys who were never on my radar pre grizzlies who are pretty good. That being said I thought I was high on them when I expected them to be a playin team
