There’s something Stewing in Memphis
For three 2nds btw
But what about the rest of his minutes?
I dunno if you’re joking but he only played 16 minutes he’s our backup Center
I’m doing who’s on first
Three 2nds sounds like three seconds
great player until his knee goes out for 30 games
That’s business as usual here!
We’re used to that shit honestly, he’ll fit right in
Like a glove
The stupidest comment one can make is try to injury scare a Grizzlies fan. That’s all we’ve ever known.
we just had the most injured team in nba history like 3 years in a row
That we sent them. It was really like foing down 6 spots in the draft
had some really nice touch around the basket and a lot of wide open looks
This who LeBron fears
Beeeeef stew!
Its Bear Stew now.
Detroit Fans, do you miss this guy?
Yeah. I thought he was going to be a Detroit lifer. But my brain understands why the front office decided to move forward with Paul Reed as the 2nd center.
in some ways yes but paul reed is better and cheaper
Micah Potter should never be allowed on a court again
A performance worthy of Patrick Stewart. RIP.
THE BEEFSTEW
My fuckin dawg
I find it hard to believe Paul Reed is better than this guy
I love Stew but Paul Reed is better. Reed is a much more versatile, craftier offensive player with some passing ability. Stew is a better screener but if you put the ball in his hands he’s looking to give it up as quickly as possible and reset the play, whereas Reed can make decisions and keep the offense moving. They’re both weirdly solid perimeter shooters from a statistical perspective while simultaneously demanding zero defensive attention from outside on account of their slow shot releases. On defense they both have outstanding positional awareness. Reed has faster hands and is more disruptive on the perimeter while Stew is a much better rim protector and stouter against interior physicality.
But the biggest factor is health. Reed hasn’t had any major issues, while Stew’s knees are sadly cooked. They swell up every time he plays and restrict his minutes to less than 20. He has to miss time to manage them and yet they still can’t endure the grindstone of the regular season and hurt his playoff availability.
The rebounding stood out to me when Boston played Detroit as well.
For years rebounding has been in the dog house in favour of other areas of the game (eg. transition defence and spacing the floor offensively), but it’s really coming back into style now as teams start to focus more on winning the possession battle.
Duren and Paul are both in the 18-20% range for TRB, Stewart is in the 10-12% range.
It just means these guys are hoovering up everything they can and giving up very few extra possessions to the other team.
Paul Reed is better and healthier
He’s not but for some reason Pistons fans are irrationally obsessed with Paul Reed. He’s good but he be doin too much when he gets the ball in his hands sometimes. I’d take beef stew if I had my pick.
Pistons fans are irrationally obsessed with Paul Reed
Reed is currently average 14/7/2/1/1 on 74.4% TS and he had monstrous advanced stats last year including being 45th in EPM and 48th in DPM.
He’s really good.
I’m a huge beef stew fan. Been watching him since his time at Washington.
I will say that Paul Reed outplayed him in the playoffs. I can’t remember if I was watching the pistons play the Cavs or the magic but Reed just seemed to cause more havoc and create more opportunities when he was on the floor.
Stewart clearly has some anger issues but I think he has a well rounded game, plays with full effort at all times and seems on the surface to be a great locker room dude, I know Cade and Duren both were tight with him. I know Memphis is 5-0 but if they were to sell at the deadline I think he’d be great on like the Raptors or the Sixers as a backup big
Stewart got injured in the Magic series and then played horribly after that. And injuries are likely to be an ongoing issue for him in his career since he plays in barefoot shoes.
We miss his presence but you really couldn’t count on him being healthy.
What injury did he sustain? Wdym barefoot shoes? Like he plays bare foot in shoes or is that a type of shoe lol? Does he have feet problems?
Reed’s name is literally Basketball, of course he is better
future raptor legend
We were robbed of Beef Stew vs Timelord
I was watching this game and I was like, no it’s not that Detroit guy.
