It’s gotta be close to the peak of being a sports fan, young team in their first year taking the leap. Felt the same about the Pistons two years ago.

He hit 35% of his threes taking less than 1 per game his rookie year, he should be taking way more threes. The shot looks real smooth
The issue with Edey taking 3s is that he’s a fucking monster in the paint.
Your center taking 3s is nice to have as a change up. With Edey, his fastball (paint dominance) is so good that a lot of the time the changeup is just worse than another fastball.
Shooting .35 from three is 1.05 expected points per shot. Thing is he shot .63 last year from two which is 1.26 per shot (which is absurd, Steph Curry level shot efficiency, on admittedly much, much less usage), and is also much more likely to be fouled on those shots, which increases their value even more. So really, he needs to almost never take threes and always dive to the paint.
He doesn’t take them unless he’s wide wide open, and the offense when he’s on the floor is designed around him putting a pick down then going by the blocks, grabbing boards for second chance shots and forcing defenders to split their attention at all times to the threat of backdoor and entry passes. His game is all about creating opportunities without touching the ball. It’s a rarity for him to be in the position to take a 3 pointer but he will from time to time to put pressure down on that pick and pop.
No he shouldn’t. He’s an elite oreb, a great lob threat, and a good post player. Shooting 3s takes away that value. Unless he’s wide open and hasn’t missed he shouldn’t shoot.
