Acuff Jr. is the fourth rookie in Kings franchise history with multiple 20-point halves, joining Jason Williams, DeMarcus Cousins (4), and Tyreke Evans (6). He has also tied Evans for most points scored by a Kings rookie in a single game.
The official nba account leaves comments?
Sir, this is a Wendy’s
Yikes. Tough attendance for Pels
Looking worse than a WNBA game
Can you blame us? The product on the court is awful.
Y’all deserve so much better fr
I feel like this would be one of the games people would wanna show up for since it should’ve been looked at as a sure fire win
Weekday game against the Kings? Nah.
You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are gray
You’ll never know dear, how much I love you
Please don’t take my sunshine away
Important to note that he took 26 shots, which is absurd for a rookie, but at least tonight he made half of them. And 14 assists is really nice
He’s averaging nearly 24 FGA per game in the first 5 games with 38/22/83 shooting splits lmao. The Kings are letting this man chuck all game long. Either the way their season is going I guess why not? Lol
Yeah he’s confident what’s wrong with that
Hes literally gotten more efficient every game. His change of pace is insane i swear sometimes he just slows down a tiny bit and the defenders look like morons
Absolutely nothing! It’s just crazy to see a rookie have the greenest of lights like that. Wish him the best.
FIRST OF MANY
Goddamn
Will be averaging 25 & 10 before he’s 21
He reminds me more of Dame than Kyrie. Between the shooting range, the athleticism / dunks, and the playmaking.
Didnt know this guy before the NBA, is he always that fast and fluid with the ball? Like at times he makes defenders look flat footed, like he is in a different rotation, might just be bad defense from the pels actually.
It’s amazing, he does that little decel move and all he needs is a half step advantage to make a play.
He scored 33 against Portlands elite perimeter defense. Granted, with less FG%
I believe he recorded the fastest three quarter court sprint at this year’s combine. It’s not even the speed that is impressive, it’s the way he changes speed to get defenders off balance and spun around. He’s essentially been getting to any spot he wants on the floor.
Hes a monster
some of the rookie class looking decent so far. giving the opportunities
I used to think the comparison was an insult but this kid genuinely might be Kyrie 2.0
Let’s calm down now lol. He can hoop tho
If this kid played for the lakers nobody would be saying calm down. The whole sub would be discussing “at what age is acuff going to pass James harden all time?”
Highly disagree my man.
You sure? Cuz I was here when we were talking about dalton knecht as the next redick. I was here for “Austin reaves is lowkey as good as Brunson”. I was here for rui hachimura is a poor man’s Kawhi. I was here for bronny James is atleast as good as Pat Bev.
And I was also here when all those guys didn’t live up to those expectations, and became scapegoats.
He’s shooting 37% from the field and 22% from three, my man lmao
He gotta be blind in one eye or something
Damn, hes better than 37 year old James Harden.
This guy is a chucker and he has no reason not to be.
Especially considering his coach literally said Acuff is doing what is asked of him lol
Granted we haven’t many good ones but he’s easily the greatest kings rookie I’ve ever seen.
Don’t worry, he’ll get snubbed for ROTY and people will continue to perpetuate how he’s actually bad on Reddit simply cause wearing a Kings uniform
No offense but he’s gonna have to average like 30 a game to win ROY on potentially the worst team in the league. There are too many good rookies this year.
There are but if you compare their averages and what they’ve done so far, it’s Acuff OBJECTIVELY speaking. If he was on any other team it wouldn’t be a question. Hes not even been mentioned among other names or voted in polls. It’s not cause there’s too many better than him and what he’s doing every game, it’s cause of branding and what team they’re on.
It’s not objectively Acuff at all lol, and I say that as an Arkansas fan. Yaxel is right there too, can’t discredit his historic start to the season as well
Look at my previous comment to someone else, I shared Yaxel’s averages too. And no rookie has had as impressive a game offensively and defensively combined as Acuff with tonight’s.
All due respect but I think Yaxel has the award right now. Things could change, it’s insanely early.
Yaxel is averaging 22/9/4 a steal on the season with 3.6 TOs.
Acuff is averaging 24/3/7 a steal on 3.4 TOs. And the game Acuff just put up tonight is more impressive than any game Yaxel has had so far.
Again, just being objective, the fact folks are still saying “Boozer or Yaxel or Peterson” and not even mentioning Acuff is the problem and my point.
There’s a guy who just reached a triple double in his 5th game, made a game winner already and led his team to 5-0 after they went 25-57 last year.
It will not be a snub when he doesn’t win ROTY for shooting 25 times a game for the worst team in the league
Sorry, thought it was the ROTY award, not “Most Valuable Teammate” award. Rookies tend to find themselves on bad teams. It’s bad enough record comes into play too much for All Star/All NBA, it shouldn’t for objective season awards.
Btw when Kings were holding the 5th seed all season & Fox & Sabonis were balling out, Sabonis having a season not seen since Wilt, Kings were the only West team from Position 1 through 11th, who didn’t get any All Stars while other teams, like the 9th Lakers at the time, got 2. So don’t tell me about the team’s record.
When Acuff gets snubbed, if he has the best numbers of his class, it’ll be like so many that came before him, because he’s a Sacramento King.
Dude, Cameron Boozer is playing better than Darius Acuff. No one who actually understands basketball cares that Acuff can average 24 PPG on 35% shooting because that is awful.
Like Max getting snubbed for first team all rookie last season.
Watched the first half. He looked very smooth in this one. He still has a tendency to overdribble into help defence and some of his passes are slightly off target or off tempo, but he’ll smooth that out with experience, no doubt. His jumper looks silky smooth, even if it is a bit unreliable, and his ability to get past the first line of defence is already elite. He even finished a drive with a vicious dunk over Murphy in this one, which I wasn’t expecting from a kid his size.
Too bad he’s probably always going to be a defensive liability. It’s not that he’s unable to play defence. He just looks like he’s not interested in it. He often just ball watches, is late to closeouts and has trouble navigating simple screens. If not for that, the guy would have superstar written all over him. Hell, he’s so good offensively, that he still might become one despite the bad defence.
Nice - I’m sure they won this game.
Nice- I’m sure you have a real team to root for
I mean tbf neither do you
You’re too ashamed to even put your team as a flair lmfao Im good I got a great rookie to watch on the team I root for
If only the Kings were as defensive as you, they might win a game!
Sorry! I’m a pelicans fan (my team also sucks)
He was also facing the only guard in the NBA who is worse at defense than he is.
Shot chucker. Unless he improves his defense he’s a rich mans cam Thomas
That’s just a lazy comparison. He’s already a better playmaker than Cam Thomas ever was.
Did thomas EVER have 10 assists in a game?
Someone only watched the highlights and didn’t read in the title he had 14 assists!
Lol Acuff haters went from not watching the game and only looking at boxscore, and now they arent even reading the entire boxscore.
you just be hatin
Lazy comment. Go back to bed.
