3-3 is the most Hawks record possible. they’ll beat a contender then lose to a 10-win team the next night

ThomasTheAngryTrain | SEA

15 | 7 hours ago

I knew they were going to win. After losing to the Heat, they have to keep that .500 stat after all.

Chessh2036 | ATL

49 | 7 hours ago

Really nice to see OO have a bounce-back performance like that. He’s had a rough start to the season.

Aaron Wiggins saved basketball.

Sadly the Cavs had to play the one game under .500 Hawks. As we know they might be the best team in history.

kumquatsr | ATL

48 | 7 hours ago

He won’t get the love cause his stats are very modest in the box score, but Kingston was absolutely instrumental in keeping the offense flowing during his time off the bench. Was finding NAW and Wiggins in their spots and kept the quick pace moving (which is the hawks favored playstyle)

Blumpkin_Party | ATL

Watching CJ McCollum unable to make basic passing reads to have Kingston orchestrate the offense the first week of his NBA career is stark.

The people on the cavs sub are acutally a bunch of bitches,

every miss or mistake 37yr old james makes, gets verbal abuse from that shitty sub

meanwhile donovan “super max” “top 10 player” mitchell throwing up bricks.

watson doing cardio and tyson doing fuck all get nothing.

blame it all on james again.

also will add in, on a b2b james harden still played more minutes than donovan.

acutal bitch made star

Malemansam | SAS

44 | 7 hours ago

yeah team subs are the worst, its just an echo chamber of whining usually. throw a different opinion or defend the usual scapegoated player and you get downvoted to hell and back, hahaha.

i miss when r/nba gamethreads were where everyone hung out, now they’re usually empty since everyone just comments in the teams subs instead, feeling safe. It’s no fun speaking with your own fan base all the time.

ProfessorWest7139 | ATL

25 | 7 hours ago

It is really calming to learn that this is a universal experience, it is draining to sit through sometimes.

Yep, sky was falling until Tuesday night. Then sky was falling again for the first half of last night. Exhausting

FunWolverine5349

5 | 4 hours ago

It’s because this lazy subreddit doesn’t have the game threads up in any decent manner. It’s just easier to go into the team subs for a game you’re watching. They have like 50 mods and nobody knows what they actually do.

Malemansam | SAS

3 | 4 hours ago

I agree with that, They should be pinned and linked up top on the banner heading too. But drama or statline posts drive traffic here only I guess.

this game was pretty good, only has 150 upvotes, the memphis/portland game was great and has under 500 upvotes. the Jbrown harry potter post has over 5000 upvotes. like wtf? That is kiddy shit nothing to do about the game we say we watch.

Remarkable_Breath545 | United States

4 | 7 hours ago

The Lakers subreddits are probably the worst. Bunch of ungrateful and spoiled bitches.

amidon1130 | ATL

4 | 6 hours ago

This sub kinda sucks for talking to other fans because shit talk gets downvoted so heavily and no one can take a joke. Like it’s a game it’s not that serious but people get so offended. Of course on the other side there are a ton fans that take it too far and say something out of pocket too.

Malemansam | SAS

5 | 6 hours ago

yeah a lot of that comes down to how you read a comment though, you don’t always understand the meaning without the inflection of speech that a joke needs. It’s not always obvious but you’re right; mods are a lot more strict now for better or worse idk but that’s why the nbacirclejerk sub was created after all, those posts used to be here.

game threads used to be full of discussion pre-covid, ever since then they’re a wasteland (besides Lakers games) and all the drama posts get the only traffic, they’re usually full of bots antagonising fanbases on purpose. its just a nastier internet we live in now imo.

amidon1130 | ATL

4 | 4 hours ago

True that. The actual nba discussion subs are either totally dead or even worse discourse wise somehow

FunWolverine5349

4 | 4 hours ago

I dunno, I see a lot of stupid, dumb and nasty shit getting thrown around. Stuff that I KNOW none of these people would say in person. That shit isn’t “cute” or “cool” because you’re hiding behind a keyboard. It’s stupid and pathetic, and nobody wants to put up with some annoying little bitch talking shit that can’t even keep up with what’s happening in the game to begin with.

Chartate101 | DET

18 | 7 hours ago

Say what you want about Harden in the playoffs, and even his overall talent (I certainly am not a fan of his, in fact I kinda hate watching him)

Dude is an all time ironman in modern NBA history. For his age he hustles and tries more than anyone else on a night to night basis. Like, LeBron was a better player at Harden’s age than Harden is now, but even 5 years ago LeBron was not trying in the regular season as much as Harden does now.

FunWolverine5349

2 | 4 hours ago

Hustles is absolutely not the word I would use to describe Harden’s game. He moves the least in the NBA of any starter iirc.

sportsinaround | CHA

22 | 7 hours ago

It’s never Donovan Mitchell’s fault. He could be doing fuck all and it’s not his fault. Standing around ²⁴⁄₇ off-ball? Low defensive effort? Boneheaded plays and constant tunnel vision? It’s someone else’s fault. As long as he gets his buckets. And even when he doesn’t get his buckets, it’s still someone else – he’s tired from all that scoring load.

Domainsetter

1 | 7 hours ago

He’s been bad this season.

Fynity | CLE

6 | 6 hours ago

I don’t engage to much with the cavs sub because the takes there are horrible, but I see plenty of people grilling him for his hero ball antics. That last shot (although Kenny should have called timeout as soon as we got the rebound) should have gone to Merill or Mobley or Harden. He probably had the easiest pass to a completely wide open, set Merill but decided to shoot a corner fade. Absolutely brain dead ball from him and coach.

Niceguydan8

1 | 6 hours ago

The game thread was crickets about Mitchell up until those last 2 shots, despite him playing like shit pretty much all night. He was certainly worse than Harden basically all night but the regulars weren’t saying anything about him.

SquidwardLover48 | CLE

19 | 7 hours ago

Donovan legit has to be one of the lowest iq players in the league man

d_wib | MIN

13 | 7 hours ago

It’s insane how they treat Mitchell compared to Harden. Feels like their offense would be much better if he facilitated to get the bigs involved more often but instead it’s kind of trick or treat based on how he shoots on high volume.

sportsinaround | CHA

13 | 7 hours ago

The thing is Mitchell can’t get his bigs as involved as they should be. His AST/TO has been suspect for most of his career. He tunnels and has poor decision making on a regular basis.

It’s a big part of why they’ve insisted on keeping Harden and paying him – Harden is a significantly better playmaker, pick and roll ballhandler, etc. and without a high-tier playmaker next to Don the team will crumble. Another big part of the problem is Don needs the ball in hands too to be effective yet his off-ball play is so garbage most of the time I watch. So they have this weird dynamic of Harden being the best primary facilitator and Don being the best primary scorer but Don doesn’t work off-ball for shit nor is a particularly good facilitator and is going to dribble it out and shoot it more often than not when he gets the ball instead of keeping it moving for better opportunities.

FunWolverine5349

2 | 4 hours ago

That’s what happens when you go to a team in your prime and just stay there, rather than forcing trades. If Harden was still on the Rockets he would be treated that way too.

It was so fake 🤣. Dude was playing against back ups and basically just able to stat pad. Not one of those games was meaningful. Klutch sports did an amazing job of getting him paid even made sure and sit out of the playoffs so the TWolves didn’t expose him

Coke_ButNotTheDrug | DEN

3 | 6 hours ago

Idk if I’m 100% ready to call it fake, but honestly fuck all the people that called the Nuggets and us fans idiots for being skeptical.

No matter what you think about PWat, Cavs paid him a lot of money for a 1 month outlier compared to the rest of his career. It was always a risk to pay him that much and right now it’s not looking good.

Niceguydan8

2 | 4 hours ago

Cavs paid him a lot of money

One thing I will push back on is that the money he’s making really isn’t that out of line for a decent spacing wing that plays good defense.

Like if he continues to be an Ausar Thompson level of shooter with worse defense then yes, it will be bad. But if he’s a 12-14ppg player that plays good defense then the AAV he’s getting is fine.
