You’re absolutely correct. So many times I see him putting in the effort but is not able to change the shot or gets bumped in the paint for an easy 2. Defence without physicality doesn’t mean much with how the NBA players are built.
Reed Sheppard is a little bit like that too, he is not a terrible defender, and he tries hard but sometimes when you are a small guard, guys can just score on you regardless of what you do
People who say that have never played basketball. There is so much physical and mental ability required to be a great defender. Yes, there are players who are perfectly capable but just don’t try enough. But plenty of players who try are simply not good defenders.
