I’ve only heard LaMelo when he’s cheerful after a win/during an interview, or sad after a loss. I would love to know what he was saying to Gobert.
I’m not gonna speculate because who knows, but LaMelo was pretty bad this game and last game too. His shot selection needs work and he hasn’t been in a good flow, but that’s probably part of why he’s frustrated here. He’s quickly learning that a pass to Rudy has a good chance of being a turnover because the dude has the worst hands and bobbles everything that comes his way.

If you go rewatch that moment, Ant was completely justified for complaining at Rudy. Rudy completely stopped playing as the Cavs were fighting to try and keep the ball in bounds and Rudy is like 3 feet away just standing there with his back turned, doing fuck all.
Edit: here’s the play Rudy tips the ball and just assumes there’s going to be a whistle or something and he completely stops playing instead of trying to go for the ball. Both Lamelo and Ant started bitching at him afterwards, I can see why, 1 pt game in OT with like 20 sec left

I swear to god all Rudy needs to do is use his fucking fingers on offense. For a dude 7 foot tall + with a hand a foot fucking long probably he legit doesn’t know how to use his hands, it’s like he plays with oven mitts on. It’s the craziest shit to me that he’s been able to make so much money with literal sticks for fingers because he doesn’t use them.
I also think this is why he’s great at defense and blocks, he just puts it out there and it probably feels like when we wear a foam finger, but with all five fingers. I can’t imagine how fun it’d be to play with those kinda hands on defense.
It’s completely beyond comprehension how he just hasn’t developed any offensive capabilities at all in his decade in the NBA. People have been expecting him to take that leap for years and it just hasn’t happened and now he’s on the tail end of his career.
Obviously, it’s really hard because the NBA is the top competition in the world and you don’t just “develop offense” like it’s easy. But at the same time, if someone was to put in work on something for a whole decade, you’d think that they would at least not be complete dogshit at it right? They’re angry cause Rudy is a liability on offense. Rudy shot 0-for-13 in the last 2 games. Lamelo struggles when driving because if he throws a lob he gonna turnover it. He also makes it harder for other players to drive into the paint.
Our second-year center had a better offensive game than Rudy in the last 2 games. Maybe he’s in a slump but I never see him shoot this bad. They don’t even fear him as a lob threat man. I hope he figures it out but I’m having a hard time seeing a connection between Rudy and Lamelo.

I went to a game last year and got there early to watch warm ups. One of the players out there was Rudy and good god it cannot be overstated just how nonexistent his offensive basketball skills are. He looked like a 7-foot-tall middle schooler out there just missing easy warmup layups, bricking short post hooks, and struggling to do any sort of dribble move at all. We all see the offensive woes in game but it was genuinely shocking to see how terrible he is even just on his own warming up with a trainer, and I don’t understand how it’s possible

Dude can’t shoot, can’t lay, can’t hit free throws, can’t hit threes, can’t dunk anymore, he just can’t put a ball in a hoop anymore, he can’t even jump.
You dont need to do any of that to be a good Center. Luke Kornet helped the Celtics win a championship by being tall and standing under the hoop when Porzingis got hurt. Gobert can do that, but with actual dexterity in his arms for better shot blocking ability.
