Victor Wembanyama tonight vs the Jazz
36 PTS | 14 REB | 5 AST | 2 STL | 2 BLK
14⁄25 FG
4⁄10 3PT
4⁄4 FT
0 TURNOVERS
+14

0 turnovers is insane, especially with a statline like this.
Cooper Flagg š«±š½āš«²š¾ Wemby
Leading their team in scoring with zero turnovers tonight.
The new Kobe and Duncan
Can’t wait for that Dirk and Duncan style Mavs spurs playoff game. Rockets are definitely our most hated Texas rival at the moment, but that’s mostly because a large percentage of their fans are just assholes. The Mavs are a fun one to go against.

0 turnovers tonight is crazy work
Last game too
He’s playing super patient and under control
They clearly had some sort of discussion behind closed doors after halftime in Dallas because their lob attempts and general “get victor the ball in the paint” effort has gone way up these last few games.
Yes OKC and Houston are better teams, but they just were barely even looking to get him going in the paint in those games. They’ve been forcing it a lot more lately and it obviously works.
It also kinda helps that they were playing the Kings and Jazz, who are not the best when it comes to defense and center depth.
To deal with Wemby, you need to throw him some big, strong dudes who’s primary focus is bear hugging the shit out of him offball.
Kings and Jazz don’t really have that.
Still needs to do it against a real teamā¦.
He looks like he is in cruise control.
Jazz aināt the most talented team but dawg, they are GOOD offensively. Their 4 losses thus far came from Grizzlies (2x), Lakers, and Spurs.
They just make young mistakes near the end. And they need to improve their defense.
also missing like 3⁄5 of their starting lineup and still came out and fought all night
They have surprisingly good depth
I think the spurs just overestimated wemby’s offensive playmaking. Just let the man eat in the post first before you try getting cute with the 5 out offense
He mumbles aloud every single comment to himself
Didn’t love a lot of the late 3s but he absolutely dominated.
Heās gassed from the segababa. He was barely crossing half court late in the game. Still getting into game shape
Yea for sure, we did need all of it to get the win though. He’s gotta find ways to be more efficient with his energy still. But it’s all good, he had a great game regardless.
He was walking in OT, completely drained. Gutsy performance though
He was gassing in the NBA finals. Just don’t think it’s fair/realistic to ever expect a guy his size who has the motor he does on both ends to play high 30s and not gas out.
Going to game 7 against the reigning champs does that
He was gassing out by game 3 of that series.
Some people expect him to just become a guy who can play 40 minutes and stay at a consistent energy level. It just isn’t physically possible at this size and mobility level. He’s already an insanely hard worker if there was some magic “make me have better cardio” solution he would’ve done it by now.
Itās a segababa at 6000 ft elevation. Fucking Knicks flair lol
Bro chill he was complimenting Wembyš
I’m not allowed to watch and comment on NBA games on the NBA subreddit because I’m a Knicks fan?
This wasn’t even an insult if anything it was complimentary stop being so defensive. Shaq couldn’t play with a high motor for 38 minutes it diminish what he was able to do.
Sybau soft
It isn’t realistic to ask one player to anchor your defense and also anchor your offense every single night including in back to backs with OT.
The Spurs are actively trying to develop Harper as the scoring guard, Castle as a 3 shooter and ANYONE as an offensive rebounder so Vic can play some stretch 5 to get some easier minutes.
obviously not how you’d want it, given he made 1(?) in the second half, but he went 40%
the real problem today was the bench, just 19 points
Tobias come baaaaaaaack…
He was super tired from the b2b, the altitude, and Luke getting 12min of cardio in.
That set 3pt from the top of the key towards the end of the game was so cash. The deep, deep pullups with a ton of space are great, too (like the one in game 7 of the WCF). The stepbacks and closely guarded ones are basically a write-off for a turnover
Wemby looked extremely composed tonight. I count maybe one or two bad shots that he took. Everything was in the flow of the offense. Made great decisions. Passed the ball well. Great defense. All-in-all, a great game.
There were a couple dumb drives where he gets to giraffing about. Never seen a big drive quite like this though, so maybe thats something thatll come with time and strength.
He had multiple drives that resulted in fouls or passing to a wide open teammate
Hes already back at last years PPG lmao
his death might have been exaggerated
Nah, he’s washed. In fact he’s always been bad, he’s just been fooling everyone this entire time.
/s
Yeah, good game from him. We can sell high now because of this output. Trade his ass. /s
What is AD doing these days? Might be a fair trade
He is just tall, frail, has no skills whatsoever, dribble on his feets that he can’t move well. A walmart version of Bol Bol if you will.
Without his atrocious opener game, he should be at 28.3 ppg now.
And the team that did that to him basically disappeared overnight

Turns out the guy whoead his team to the finals last year was not actually bad all along and only good at defense. I, for one, am shocked.
That’s what I tried to say to people being like oh shit he might not win the MVP after game 1. It’s like people fail to do basic math. A couple bad games in a season where you play 65-75 is totally irrelevant. Wemby last year took 1080 shots and made 553 of them which was 51.2%, If he played another game and was 0/10 he’d be 50.7% from the field. That’s not gonna swing anyone’s vote
Lmao I remember mfs saying heās been figured out
kornet wallahi the worst center in the league
He’s killing the team whenever he steps on the court. Zach Collins all over again
Collins is a better scorer and passer, at least
Nah Collins was a bum. All he did was brick wide open threes and drop passes (same as Kornet tbh)
Zach collins is if Luke kornet was Luke kornet but if he busted random ass threes and bum ass post hooks randomly
Heās like Luke Kornet if he was permanently pissed off
tf happened to him I swear he was serviceable last year?
His decline started mid season last year. Honestly looks like his body is just breaking down.
It’s actually pretty sad to see. He can really only play drop coverage and any team with guards who have a decent shot will absolutely feast on him like we saw tonight. Reed cannot get enough going fast enough. Plus January-ish for Quaintance, who I’m so excited to see fit on this team. I really think he is the perfect player to pair with Wemby.
youre going to hell bro, should see looney play
Jakob exists
Loving how patient his game has looked. Nothing forced, mixing inside and outside shots as needed
Insane statline and didn’t even shoot hot from 3 nor rack up blocks
4⁄10 from three is solid but the scary part is 14⁄25 from the floor with zero turnovers. that’s just absurd efficiency for any player, let alone a big.
3 steals btw.
Bro is a monster
He did that so easily it didn’t look like a 36 14 and 5 type of night. He was just chilling in the flow of the offense
Somebody had to do something. Just felt so quiet from everyone
I thought this guy was finished?
What do you mean by “finished”? He was clearly never good and never gonna be good at offense.
Monster game from the Alien
His demise was greatly exaggerated š
Jaxson Hayes and Mo Bamba were both completely useless tonight lol. Itās a credit to George and Bailey that this game was even close
Bailey looked amazing man. He plays so mature which is funny cuz every smooth brained redditor was saying he wouldnāt make it in the league cuz of his maturity
He’s rounding into that MVP form!
So one of my personal agenda is that Spurs should do twin towers, if Wemby develops his playmaking from top of the key to allow for better spacing. Then the 3 guard line up won’t be too much of an issue as we will have good coverage on D.
Wemby has shown signs today, but maybe it’s just me making a wild wish.
Good game and heās only going to get better this year. MVP incoming
As i have said, my Wemby peaked on 3rd year too early and we need to trade him. We can sell high now. š
Texas is back on top
Thatās a bit mire like it.
checks the plus minus of kornet ah yep of course he was -8
the box score undersells how bad he was
Idk what happened he genuinely cannot jump for rebounds anymore
this man can’t make layups, defend, or rebound. it’s insane that mitch hasn’t tried giving reed some mins
I don’t know if reed is ready for extended minutes yet but he is currently at 21 REB per 75 in just 2 games, maybe they cant split the bench minutes with him and Kornet?
He was good last season until a late season injury and then he fell off the cliff. I was hopeful he’d recover in the offseason, but he still looks bad.
This was the perfect game to give Reed minutes. A back to back in Utah with the high altitude is a good game to give a vet the night off
Dude regressed so much itās insane he was pretty serviceable last year
He was a huge reason we started winning games
It’s the same shit we said about Biyombo the year before last year too. Centers that are 30+ years old just break down from all the physical hits, just sad to see
I wish we used Reed on the 4th instead of Kornet! Oh boy! I love Kornet but he definitely regressed. We need Tarris Reed to replace half of Kornet’s minutes.
Kornet discourse is so funny, has the highest expectations of any backup big I’ve ever seen bc of how prominent the Wemby fanbase is
-8 is not something that is ever being reported on for any other player. It’s not notable
i mean he was pretty unplayable in the playoffs. whenever wemby went to the bench their leads vanished. what’s been happening this season is just an extension of that. spurs fans don’t even have crazy expectations for him they prob just want him to go back to last season’s version of himself when the spurs won like 8 games in a row without wemby or something like that
The Spurs were, what, 12-6 without Wemby last season?
Expecting your team to always be on a 55 win pace without your BITW level player is, in fact, a crazy expectation.
That’s what’s weird about seeing Wemby fan discourse. They have such high expectations for what his surrounding cast should be doing. You just said it yourself. It’s absurd.
i’m not talking about just in the games wemby wasn’t playing but also in the games where he was just coming off the bench. he was much more serviceable than he is now
Youāre responding about last regular season when most people have been talking about his regress since the playoffs until now.
Good job?
The expectations were set by how he played last year. There’s no obvious reason for the drop-off so of course people are gonna pick at it
I think it is more that being the backup for Vic is a very demanding role combined with him losing a step as he has gotten older has lead to him looking real bad in his minutes.
I think he will look better when Quaintance and Harris are healthy and we can play him with some real power forwards.
However his minutes have looked real bad and he might just be cooked at this point.
Spurs fans always pick a role player to scapegoat every year, but then again Luke has kinda sacked while we have a better rookie center in Tarris Reed
