Both broke their fibula’s, but PG broke his tibula, whereas Jdub dislocated his ankle. Gordon Hayward also dislocated his ankle, and kept having ankle injuries after, which really derailed his career.

No type of healing is absolute. Broken bones aren’t always just as strong once healed.

The long healing process means the muscles atrophy and are less able to support the bone. Just like muscular injuries, the bone can feel perfectly fine and not be ready for maximum effort.

It’s a very scary injury because you could have a very different movements for the rest of your life. Fractures with dislocations and tore ligaments SUCKS. Every time your bones and tissues would get tested again and again under full game pressure. For ordinary folks it’s not that important, but for the all star player even 10% of his physique could cost him so much on the court.

He tore multiple ligaments in his ankle. He’s not even gonna be walking on it for a long time nevermind running and jumping. If he’s in the lineup for opening day next year, that would be a minor miracle.

I’m willing to bet there is no world he comes back this season. Breaking your fibula is an extremely exhaustive surgery.
