choke me daddy dray

Showmanship and theatrics became more and more the norm of the showtime business. Ever since the NBA smelled the blood in the 90s, the explosion of Jordan, the globalization effect, etc.. they are shifting towards even more theatrics to keep the machine going.

Saying that, NBA players used to play every game, but I believe that was a thing not only because of the marketing machine (or the lack of), that was a thing simply because the game was not as fast paced and the players where not as juiced and heavy. I honestly think players nowadays attempt load management and they are getting injured at a higher frequency because this combination of speed + weight obviously leads to more injuries. You don’t need to be a medical specialist to reach such a basic conclusion. NBA athletes always took the juice and they always ran both ends, but not at the crazy high usage we have nowadays, the pacing is just too fast and everyone looks jacked as shit

With how players are moving in the court, back to backs are seriously hard for the body. Football (soccer) plays 1-2 games a week and the players are always required to be in their facility the day after a game to rehab. You don’t get that in the nba because teams are flying out immediately.

They rested Messi because there was no reason to play him and risk injury since they already qualified. NBA teams do the same thing at the end of the season, teams with set seedings don’t play their starters at all.

Messi’s 39. The World Cup is a 4 week tournament in a sport that usually plays max 2 games a week.

Apples to oranges. NBA stars never rested before. NHLPlays a similar number of games, most players are playing most games but again, 18 players a game in hockey vs a star playing majority of an NBA game of course.

They should just stop scheduling back to backs or decrease the number of games in a season. I think it’s unfair that we have to watch a worse product on the court and fans suffer who go to games.

The whole point of ANY OF THIS is to entertain fans. Fans aren’t entertained by Stars sitting out the regular season like they’re special snowflakes that don’t have to put in as much effort as the rest of us. They should be putting on a good show during the regular season to fans get what they pay a lot of money for.

It’s stupid to expect athletes to play every game? It’s their JOB. And they get paid millions to do it. You’re not thinking of the average fan taking their family to a game, paying hundreds to thousands of dollars so that their kid can see their favorite player play. And they’re not playing. Not because they’re hurt. But to manage their load. It’s ridiculous.

Because Jordan played a grindy and slow game. Nowadays, everybody wants to run contactless marathons like Curry, every game, while abusing the juice. Speed + weight is obviously a bad combination

In all his interviews, Jj’s interviews they said he didnt play/touch basketball entire summer (he worked at his body and recovery this time) and say he is rusty etc.

Have to slow things down. The pacing of the NBA is just crazy, the previous Luka game, Lakers and Blazers scored 70 points each in the first half, lol this is ludicrous

The lack of fundamentals and physicality opened up things way too much, these dudes are running a marathon every fucking game. If the rules don’t get enforced to slow down the pace and keep things grindy, these players are going to hurt themselves and attempt “load management” more and more

Thats fucking nuts for a game high tempo as basketball.

Like a normal ass job, the horror.

Shook

Yeah he played hurt and paid for it in the regular season… he was hurt overseas. It was very, very obvious. He literally said it, as did his team.

Also he was injured that entire playoffs lmao, you acting like it was just with the Celtics showed you only watched the finals and drew a conclusion from that

There is no evidence based investigation medically for that

The NBA office sends a guy to feel Luka’s back

Your back can hurt and feel tight to an excruciating degree even if there’s nothing physiologically wrong

I’ve woken up with back tightness after going to sleep ostensibly healthy. No NBA level game or practice necessary. I go to work though cause I ain’t no hoe!! (and i don’t get paid if I’m injured) but actually I would not work if I could get not work and get paid NBA money.

Luka sat out half the third and most of the 4th quarter last night.

Thank you. You wanna talk load management? Look at pitchers. There are literally pitchers who play one inning only.

I don’t think I said anything that suggests otherwise. Not implying anything either other than, whenever he gets hurt, I just hope it’s nothing serious.

lol ok? Doesn’t take away the fact that he’s always limping or grabbing his shoulder or hand or wrist or whatever the fuck. He’s always showing pain expressions.

Melo first option hoops😂

He better or else

Idk through 4 games Ziaire Williams is shooting 40% from 3. I don’t expect that to be sustainable for him.

If his shooting falls off they don’t have much offense in the starting lineup. But yeah back up C is a major need for them.

Ziaire, Thybulle, and Kessler has their D looking pretty good imo but the bench definitely lacks defense

I agree they do have fixable holes the issue is assets. Are they going to be able to find a positive at the back up center, a starting level 4 who can rebound, defend and not be a negative on offense. With the limited assets and the complete lack of continuity it’s not likely this is the year we contend. You think teams are going to be willing to trade us a back up 5 knowing how desperate we are for it? We’re desperate for a scarce resource, no gm is doing any favors. If that was the case we wouldn’t be stuck with looney rn. We need assets to make the trades and with how limited we are they have to be long term solutions

I agree with you there, you definitely want to be healthy especially with the way the season is looking. They just spent the preseason load managing him and the other guys, they have no continuity/chemistry. Why not manage his minutes opposed to fully taking games off early in the season? Still let the team get game reps, but instead of him and Austin playing 36 & 39 minutes they play closer to 30. The Utah game Luka played 38. The first clipper game him and Reaves played ³⁷⁄₃₈. Paired with his league leading usage, I don’t think this 1 game off counters the workload and minutes he has on a nightly basis.

Literally if there weren’t fans, the sport wouldn’t exist. Fans are more important than the players.

wtf are you talking about as important as I think I am lol? They did this last year, he actually gets hurt in the middle of the season, then he’s on the brink of missing 65. He has to hard push to make the minimum games then he pulls hamstring. After a summer off why load manage on game 5 oppose to saving these nights off for game 35, 64,71, etc. They already load managed the preseason.
