After what happened with Jalen Duren, I think teams with max players will be incentivised to make their own players ineligible. For example, OKC are so good that they could get top 2, play SGA and Chet 64 games and hope Castle or Harper get into the 3rd team by default.

I said train. Not practice. They overdo it. Repetitive motion and overuse of the same muscle groups are going to lead to more injury. They are pushing themselves to and beyond the absolute limits.

Ya it’s more of a question on how much wear and tear they have growing up now before they hit the league. Kids are training younger and harder than ever with all the hopes and dreams of hitting that nba money.

I know hoop dreams has always been a thing but it just feels now more than ever the training regime is a lot more demanding on kids.

Obviously pace of the league is other issue but I’m curious which is most impactful for these injuries.

Overtraining is not the issue. Training is a controlled environment where they can dictate the exact movements of players. Games are an uncontrolled environment which can vary enormously in the types of movements and the intensity of those movements.

For example, in training they have GPS, load data, everything so they can say “Hey only 3 cuts going left” knowing that the 4th is where the injury risk is significantly elevated. In a game you might have to make 1 cut left, or 15, you just don’t know.

Trainers are definitely guilty of pushing it to the limit, because they’re playing out the riskiest scenario, trying to drive the race car to the limit without breaking it knowing they need to be going that fast to win a title. Foot off the gas and their players probably won’t perform, and their team will lose.

Reduced games is the only way we can maintain the current playstyle and quality.

It’s def not overtraining. First off, players barely have team training, why do you think so many nba workout videos are from a player with an idiotic celebrity trainer makin them do bullshit.
